A Diamond in the Rough on the River

  • 4 of 5

By far the best view anywhere in Tampa. This one bedroom river home is amazing. It is older and a bit run down, but the view makes up for everything. My husband and I fished off the pier and caught several catfish in a matter of an hour. Trick to the trade - drag your hook on the bottom of the river with cheese, meat or anything edible. These catfish are sure to bite.

Lauren was an amazing hostess. Any problems we had she was quick to resolve. Much appreciated her help to trouble shoot the TV. Beyond that everything else was spectacular!

Very fun place to stay

  • 5 of 5

The river views are excellent and had a great time fishing every day. Everything worked wifi, flatscreen tv, fishing equipment, and a soft bed. Also close to UT where our daughter just started.

Will definitely return.

We had a great time, enjoyed the view, seen dolphins, sting rays, the kids caught sharks right of the deck. Enjoyed just relaxing on the deck watching the boat traffic.

We were overall happy with our stay

Peaceful Paradise

  • 5 of 5

This little cabin was everything it claims to be. It was perfect for my husband and I to get away from everything. No hotel lobbies and expensive hotel restaurants to deal with. We sat on the porch every single day and watched the boats go by. We were lucky enough to have a manatee swim right in front of us while sitting on the dock and got to watch dolphins play on a couple of different occasions. The little boat house on the water was clean, well stocked and easy to find. Loved that it had a security gate -- the neighborhood was not as bad as many people made it out to be. Seems like they are fixing up that part of the water by rebuilding or refurbishing some condos nearby. Took the water taxi from the little restaurant two blocks down. That was fun -- got off at the convention center and then took the trolly to Ybor City which was a blast. Had no problem getting an UBER to bring us back from Ybor City. We ate at Ricks on the River several times. Food was great. We basically stayed at the cabin, sat on the deck, watched the water and relaxed. I would highly recommend this to anyone that is tired of hotels. VRBO is the way to go. I did a VRBO rental in Vegas and was not disappointed, nor was I disappointed in this VRBO. Kitchen was well stocked although we did not cook anything while we were there. Stopped at a little gas station up the road, purchased some snacks, soda, donuts for breakfast, etc and then went to Ricks for lunch or dinner. We did take a 45 minute drive to St. Pete Beach and spent a half day at St. John's pass. Ate dinner at Crabby Bills the same evening in St. Pete and then came back to the boat house and relaxed the night away. Super easy. Super clean. Super fun. Super relaxing. Loved it.

Gem on the river

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely wonderful hidden gem. This was one of the most relaxing VRBOs I have stayed at. Beautiful views from the deck, great natural light inside from all of the windows, comfy bed, and more. It is older so don't expect the inside to blow you away, but it is still super cute and has everything you need. I would own this as my vacation home and come every month if I could.
