About the property

1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Full Kitchen (Sleeps 2)

We are an 'Eco-Friendly", solar-powered, waterfront home-apartment overlooking the Caribbean Sea with a beautiful dock and swimming ladder. It is located down a scenic, sandy, jungle path. This is an authentic, Caribbean style "home," that is not located within a shared Townhouse/Condominium-type complex. It is away from it all in the exclusive South Point residential neighborhood. This is an actual "home" that we happily offer as a true Vacation Rental By Owner for others to enjoy.

This gated and fenced in property is located on the island's only scenic, seaside jungle road far enough away from the airstrip yet close enough to the village shopping, grocery stores & restaurants for all your needs. The location is far enough away from the lively village for plenty of peace and quiet throughout the days and nights to relax.

Enjoy everything Belize has to offer right from the Seaside Suite. All your adventures to the mainland are just a short water taxi ride away. Or, choose from our many locally guided tours that will also bring you to the mainland to explore by Sea or Shore. They are absolutely fantastic and will pick you up by boat and drop you off right at our private dock for your convenience. Live like a local and enjoy everything Caye Caulker has to offer. The Seaside Suite offers all the adventures that you could ever want. It is ideal for those seeking a complete Belizean experience with all of your options available for adventure, exploration and relaxation alike, all from the convenience of your own tropical island home away from home.

Located at the South Point of Caye Caulker and away from it all, this property offers a peaceful tropical island getaway. The seaside path to Casita Bella Vida is very scenic and fun for bikes, golf cart rentals and golf cart taxi rides. The Suite is approx. 1 mile to the Village. Golf-cart taxis will pick you up and return you back home if you prefer to be driven. Or, you can rent a golf cart if you'd like. Two (2) bikes are included with your stay and are available on the property for you to enjoy.

Here in Central America there are bugs, geckos, iguanas etc. Please be prepared for the bugs, and the sun. Nothing ruins a vacation like bug bites and sunburn. We are "off grid" and therefore we do not have A/C, but we do have fans and an almost constant Sea breeze that makes your apartment quite comfortable. Guests are supplied with a 5 gallon water bottle for drinking.

Our property manager will arrange for a golf cart taxi ($fee not included) to meet you and transport you to the house where he will greet you and check you in.

Loved the tranquility

  • 5 of 5

I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for peace and quiet, wonderful view, and great hosts! James (owner) and Ron helped us tremendously, great guys! Ron went beyond expectations and even helped us recover a lost bag in Belize City and brought it to us at the airport, just in time to catch our flight home...thank you so much Ron!!

Caye Caulker Stay

  • 5 of 5

James and Rainy are amazing hosts. Everything was perfect here. We chose to be further away from all of the bars because we wanted peace and quiet. And this got us out on the bikes every day which was really fun. Highly recommend this place.

Quiet, relaxing and Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

This place was amazing for us. The cottage was cozy and offered much of what we needed, the Veranda and dock perfect for quiet reflection, soaking up the sun or reading a book. We had full use of bikes and a quick 20min ride took us to the city center daily for supplies. We only ate out once , ( Hibisca owned by the neighbors and truly an amazing meal) the rest of the time enjoyed preparing our own meals with fresh local ingredients in the well equipped kitchen. Probably not a place for everyone since it is much like dry camping. Rain water is collected in large catchments( so showers are quick), electricity is solar, stove and fridge run on propane and the septic system can not handle paper. So if you are looking for a place to rest and unwind, this is it. James and Rainie are amazing hosts and are quick to help or offer advice when asked.

Thank you a bunch,

Chris and Lei-Anne

Comfortable and relaxing with beautiful sunsets

  • 4 of 5

The apartment was attractive, clean, and comfortable. We were impressed that we were living off the grid: solar panels provide electricity and water is from rainwater collected in giant tanks. Hot water is only available in the shower (and is tricky to regulate) so we heated water on the stove to wash dishes.

There is a new dock in front of the house from which we had outstanding views of the sunsets. We used the available inflatable rafts to swim from the dock in the warm water. There were resident pelicans who entertained us. We had access to a rooftop porch with wonderful views. We appreciated the availability of bicycles for getting around the island.

We were very glad that we chose to stay at the quiet ,natural end of the island.

The owners, James and Rainy were in residence and were very friendly and helpful and responsive to minor problems we encountered. We also benefited from the services of Ron, the property manager.

If you are looking for a place for quiet and relaxation, this is it!

Owner's Response: Thank you! We really enjoyed meeting you both and we were happy that you were here to see the Olive Throated Parakeets pass through the property too! We just upgraded our kitchen sink with hot water per your suggestion and we adjusted the thermostat on our new on-demand hot water heater. We are glad you chose to stay with us and hope you come back to relax again soon!

Quiet, secluded, but HOT!

  • 3 of 5

We were picked up by a golf cart and taken to the house on the south end of the island. The road to get there had the WORST STENCH and we panicked wondering how we could stay for a week with that smell. (Brown water and garbage everywhere in the mangroves) Luckily once we got to the house the smell wasn't there...except in the bathroom. The house is fenced in which was really nice. The pics are deceiving on here bcz we got the bottom room in the house when the pics show the top view of the house which is gorgeous and spacious, wat nicer than the bottom (we peaked in the windows as no one was staying there and wished we cld have gotten that space instead). Overall it was nice but there is no A/C and it was so hot and humid in May when we went. We were constantly dripping with sweat! Bed was ok. The bathroom smelled really bad. There was a cockroach running around. It was a comfortable place to stay..the bikes arent in the greatest shape and one of the seats was broken and the other got a flat tire. The views from the top deck are amazing and we really appreciated the seclusion and quiet. We spent most days riding to the north side and cruising through town. Snorkeling off the pier at the house we couldnt see much as the water wasnt clear and I got a nasty rash after swimming there for about 10mins. We did some fly fishing and caught 1 barracuda in 7 days fishing off the pier. Much better fishing up by the split. If you are looking for a simple no frills place, this is it! Its cozy and you can cook food in the little kitchen, lay in the hammocks, and make friends with the iguanas and crabs :)

Owner's Response: Caye Caulker, Belize is an island in the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Central America. It has a sub-tropical climate (HOT) with varying Eco-systems. We apologize that our guest noticed an unpleasant odor caused by the sea-grass that washes up to the shore from time to time. The island has regular clean-ups to dispose of it as well as the plastics that wash into the Mangroves from the Sea. We are glad that we do not have any at our "comfortable and cozy" house and that they did not experience any there. We sincerely apologize that this guest did not book the suite that she desired. VRBO listing: 474819 (The Upper Suite). Her reservation request was for VRBO listing: 644954 (The Lower Suite). We are so glad that she was still able to enjoy the top decks and appreciated the "amazing" views, seclusion and the peace & quiet of our private fenced-in property. We have four (4) bikes on the property and always have a spare one for any maintenance issues that may occur. We've placed new air fresheners in the bathroom and replaced the insect traps. The island has two (2) excellent pharmacists and doctors available for any medical matters. We always recommend guided snorkeling tours to the Barrier Reef for the ultimate undersea adventures. Our dock is an excellent swimming spot with a sandy bottom. We are sorry it may have been windy when this guest was there and that the sand may have been stirred-up. Many of our expert angler friends are always more than happy to offer our guests fly fishing tips, as the South point is their favorite fishing spot on the island. We strive for 5 star reviews from all of our guests and to achieve this, we (our house manager & us) are always ready to accommodate any of our guests needs during their stay. We respect social media, but respond much better in the moment and in person when there is an opportunity for us to make our guests stay more enjoyable. We do our best to promote responsible, sustainable tourism at all times.

2 room apartment on the water with 2 bicycles.

  • 5 of 5

We totally enjoyed our time, bring wonderfully hostessed in a most beautiful place. The quiet guest rooms are 1 1/2 miles from town, made easily accessible with bicycles. Only the tropical breezes in the palms and the sound of the waves and a multitude ofstars at night.

About James

We are a happily married couple enjoying our 50's.

We love to travel, and enjoy many sports from the snowy mountains to the sandy seashores.

James purchased this apartment in 2013

Why James chose Belize District

It has always been a dream for my wife and I to own a home in the Caribbean. We were fortunate enough to have our dream come true. With such a truly beautiful home we felt it would be nice to make it available and share it with others.

What makes this apartment unique

It is a truly peaceful and quiet location with the most scenic road leading up to the Seaside suite. We are away from the busy Village yet close enough for all your entertainment, shopping and restaurant needs.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed our stay here at the Seaside Suite and on Caye Caulker. Had a fantastic snorkeling experience with Richard's Adventures - highly recommend him - a super fun & knowledgeable guy with a real reverence for the reef. We also loved biking into the Village from the Suite and taking advantage of the kayak & SUP's.

Thanks again James & Rainy!
