Overview

About the property

110 Yr Old 3 Bedroom, 2 Bath, Recently Renovated Row Home.

3 blocks to H St. or Union Market and 5 blocks to Red Line Metro. We are close to all that Capitol Hill and the H Street Corridor have to offer.

Our home is over 100 years old, but we have lovingly restored it without gutting the charm out of it. You'll find all the modern amenities in a classic wrapper. Combining marble, glass, granite, stainless, original hearts of pine wood flooring to create warm and beautiful spaces. Stay in a piece of history in a city steeped in history.

Guests will have the run of the main home on floors 1 and 2 (there is a separate apartment on the garden level that is used by me and my family on occasion). The home has 3 bedrooms upstairs (2 queen beds and one full bed) and one queen sofa Sleeper on the first floor. It also has two full baths. Finally, it has two 46' big screen TVs with Blue Ray/DVD players and Cable, broadband wireless internet, fully equipped kitchen, and outdoor deck and patio with gas grill.

We are close to everything in Capitol Hill monument and museum-wise ...either by the Red Line Metro (subway), by bus, or by car. (You don't really need a car, thanks to the various public transportation options, including the Capitol Bike Share system). There is a bus line on Florida Ave. 1/2 block away and on K St. two blocks south. H St. is full of cool bars and restaurants and is only 4 blocks away but far enough to avoid the noise and the crowds. Also, Union Market (2 blocks away) is a great place to hang out, get coffee, fantastic Gelato, fresh bread, fish, meat, vegetables, and fabulous gourmet cheese. The wine selection and prices at the Italian specialty store Litteri 1 1/2 blocks away is fantastic!

The Red Line Metro (DC's subway) is only 5 blocks west, Bus lines at Florida Ave. (1/2 block away), K St. 2 blocks south, or H St. 4 blocks south. Convenient to Balt/Wash Parkway, Rt. 295, and Rt. 395.

We can interact as much as our guests would like to interact with us. We have a second home about an hour away and a guest apartment below the home that we sometimes stay in. If we are there we can interact personally if the guests would like to. Otherwise we are quite responsive to text/email/phone for questions and/or advice. English is our native tongue, but between us we speak French, German and a bit of Spanish. We love showing off our city and the many sights, sounds, and aromas you can find in it. Let us help you plan a day according to your likes, interests, and the amount of time you have available.

We'd like people to treat our home as if it were their own...be comfortable, but respectful. Absolutely NO Smoking is allowed in on our home please and NO pets of any kind. You may smoke on the back patio if you need to. Our severely autistic child is deathly allergic to cigarette smoke and dog dander/hair. Please, Please, Please, do NOT smoke anything in our home. Security deposit funds will be used to professionally clean our home if you smoke in it. Thank you in advance for respecting this rule :)

Check-in is at 4pm and Check-out is at 11am.

Why Greg Masucci chose Near Northeast

Our home is over 100 years old, but we have lovingly restored it without gutting the charm out of it. You'll find all the modern amenities in a classic wrapper. Combining marble, glass, granite, stainless, original hearts of pine wood flooring to create warm and beautiful spaces. Stay in a piece of history in a city steeped in history.

As for the neighborhood, the H Street area was once up-and-coming, but has definitely arrived at this point. New restaurants open up every day, and the development in this area is hard to stay on top of. Next up: two movie theaters and a Whole Foods. However, you won't find Starbucks, Gap, or any chain restaurants or bars. H Street (and the nearby Union Market) have still retained a kind of 'hipster charm'.

The house itself is a real house--not a hotel room. You will be able to kick back after a long day of site seeing and either settle down for the night with a book or TV, or warm up for a night out on H Street or elsewhere in the District.

Perfect accommodations for a visit to DC!

  • 5 of 5

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We were able to walk to a variety of restaurants and grocery stores and were just a short LYFT ride to all the attractions that DC has to offer. Greg was a great host, providing us with a lot of great information on local sites and how to get around the city. We enjoyed being able to make meals at the house and sit out on the back patio to relax!

Nice house, good launch point, busy neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

Just finished a week here and overall it was really good choice. The home is quite large - we had 6 people no problem. The beds/TV's are good with a good sized kitchen/dining room. It's an old home with its charms and quirks - but in good shape, with nice decorations, and well stocked.

The neighborhood is busy with a fair amount of street noise, but also really close to many things. We walked to NOPA for dinner one night, $10-12 uber fare to the mall, and 10-15 min walk to metro. Wholefoods is close and I really liked the sushi place down at the end of the block.

Thanks!

Clean house, ideal location, perfect trip!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for 5 days in this location and loved it. Within walking distance to a Whole Foods, Starbucks, CVS, and various restaurants. House setup was perfect for our family and the kitchen was very well stocked. Everything was clean and the owner had great communication with us before and during the trip. There must be a hospital or fire station nearby, because there were a lot of sirens throughout the night, so you may want to bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. I had no trouble sleeping, but I l have a sound machine that I travel with, so I never heard them once, but my daughter heard them nightly. We will definitely stay here again when we visit again!

Vacation with kids

  • 5 of 5

Was looking for a place in DC where each kid could have their own room, and this home had it. Best parts were the dedicated parking spot and full kitchen which made traveling with young kids easier.
