Perfect week!

  • 5 of 5

We were very happy with our stay! The views are stunning. The house is very comfortable and had everything we needed. The entire rental process couldn't have been any easier, from payment to getting in the front door. The owners were always available with any question. The owners manual on the table is all you need to work everything. We will be staying here again, or at least till we buy our own house in Cape Coral. You wont be disappointed in this rental!

Nice but

  • 2 of 5

It is a very nice neighborhood and the canals are beautiful but when we got there all of the beds were sopping wet I guess from the maid service putting the sheets on wet. The pool area is dirty and the furniture is old. One of the showers drained so slowly it was really unusable until I stuck my hand down there and cleaned out a gloppy mass of ectoplasm and hair out of the strainer, then it worked fine.

Good house, good value, GREAT location

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a great stay. We were somewhat nervous after a negative review was posted so I'll address that first. There were no bugs in the house - and we looked! We kept the kitchen clean, leaving no fruit or other bug-attracting foods out (which is also recommended in the instructions binder), and we had no issues. All the equipment worked except one toilet (out of 3) - which we were notified in advance and agreed that it wouldn't be a problem. The patio outside was in fine condition. There were a few cracks and some discoloration - the normal wear and tear of a residential property. But nothing was unsafe or unsightly. And I personally prefer the electric usage billing over a flat rate for pool heat. It makes the user accountable (so they aren't running the pool at hot tub temps) and is most likely cheaper than the flat rate I've paid at other properties. The owner was also quick to reply to my questions and provided so much more than the typical house rental including coffee pods, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, salt & pepper and condiments, windex, pool towels, pool toys, fishing poles, kayaks, bikes, and more things I'm forgetting.

House: Half the kitchen wall has been removed since the pictures were taken, making the area feel more open. There is dining for 4 inside but the table is big enough to fit 8. The patio has a larger table with seating for 8 and more seats around the patio. In addition to the normal kitchen appliances, an electric grill, keurig, and wine fridge are provided. We had to reset the router on the first two nights but otherwise the cable and internet were reliable. There are instructions for the pool. We heated the hot tub to 98 and the pool to 87. The master bedroom has high end sheets and a quality mattress. The kids' rooms were decent.

The canals are BEAUTIFUL. You can see the sunrise over the river to the right and the sunset over the canal to the left. Boats cruise by all day. There was always a cooling breeze. We kayaked and fished and saw dolphins and sting rays! I replaced the reels on two of the provided poles so we had 4 poles to fish. We used #2 hooks with fake shrimp and caught catfish and mullet fish pretty much every day. Nothing was exceptionally large but the kids had a blast.

The neighborhood is great. People walk, jog, and bike. Traffic is light and there is a bike lane on main road. And the corner lot is quiet and very private. We would absolutely stay here again

We stayed at the home for two weeks. The home is not brand new so if that is your desire, look elsewhere, but the important things were all good. The beds were comfortable, the shower pressure was good, the lanai and pool area were beautiful and we spent the majority of our time there. There was a brand new, nice large refrigerator and a new wine fridge. We were there with four adults and liked the privacy of the separated master and other bedrooms. We truly enjoyed watching all the huge boats heading out to the "big water". The area was ideal for walking. The owner provided us a web site to track our electricity usage. We knew we were going over our allowance, but it was worth every penny as we swam every day except the first day when we were warming up the pool. All in all, we were quite happy with the accommodations.

Dirty House with Great View

  • 1 of 5

First off the house was a mess. There were hair clumps in the drains, the jets in the bathtub shot out some weird brown substance with the consistency of sawdust, the toilet seats were gross, the counters had sticky spots, and the floor throughout the house was just dusty. The toilet mentioned in a previous review was pooling small puddles of water on the floor next to it. The pool had floaters, the concrete around the pool had also been 'repaired' poorly and there were pieces of what looked like duct tape on the step which had spalled and crumbled. Finally gave in to the kids and heated up the pool during the last two days. Anyways so far as the house goes, I could understand a little bit of cleaning busywork when you get there but this was ridiculous, especially after a sizable 'cleaning fee.' Received no response about the condition of the house, but did receive a somewhat confusing non-response about heating the pool when the question was about the hot water tank for showers.

After the conclusion of our week stay, we received a 'bill' for $14 for additional electric (we ran the pool for two days). What the owner had neglected to mention was that, in addition to this charge, we were charged for 'credit card transaction' fees which apparently, according to forums on this very site are normally and nominally the responsibility of the homeowner (and a tax write off). Just a warning because for us this sum of charges for us came to almost $75. So don't expect your entire deposit back on top of any issues. This is even more frustrating for me because I like to leave a house better than I found it, and at some past properties in the area the house was so clean that this was not really possible.

During email exchange where I was wondering why I was being shortchanged $75 for no reason, the owner brazenly made sure to request a review, as (and I'm paraphrasing here) 'we changed management and lost our reviews.' Hmm. I doubt they were all five star reviews at any rate. Had booked the house month and months ago so I wish I had checked for reviews in the meantime. I might have changed my mind had I seen the previous one.

The lot description was mostly accurate. The neighborhood is tranquil, and the area is great. The owner was unhelpful at least, if not down right deceptive. I would not recommend this property to anyone. There's plenty of other homes to stay at in the area.

Owner's Response: The house is taken cared by cleaning professional companies The pool is taken cared by pool professional companies. They all have a good reputations. we are going to re-clean if the renter complain in the future. With regards to the fees. All fees are listed under the "Rates" section of our VRBO page. We also provide explanation of charges and even provide proof of charges for complete transparency. Our renters receive the online login information for our electricity company and is able to monitor their daily electrical spending. Our home includes many features, such as cable television, land telephone, bicycles, kayaks, and boating dock all at no extra charge. In late January, a deeper cleaning was performed on the home. The refrigerator and grill were replaced with newer models. A new wine fridge was added to the property. Plumbing was also upgraded. The lanai was power washed as well. The rental pricing of the home is very competitive given it's amazing location at intersecting canals and easy gulf access. Most of our renters understand that given the age of the home, there are minor wears and tears to the home. We have taken the the overall condition and location of the home in consideration when we set the pricing.
