About the property

4 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom home

Our mountain home is conveniently located on Route 9 less than 4 miles (about 5 min) south of Breckenridge. A paved driveway, which is plowed for your convenience in the winter, leads to a heated 2-car garage. Located on two acres of beautiful aspens and evergreens, it backs up to the Arapaho National Forest.

Inside is a modern 3,000 square foot newly furnished home with four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms to comfortably sleep ten. Additionally there is a small TV/reading room with a futon to accommodate another one or two.

The loft has a large high-top table with 6 chairs for games. A full size air hockey table and a foosball table are also located in the loft.

The main living area has a large gas fireplace with a TV above and a wall of windows. The dining table has seating for 10.

The modern kitchen has granite counters with seating for 2 at the bar, a gas stove top and stainless steel appliances. A plentiful supply of pots, pans, dishes, cups and glasses provides the option to cook or order in.

The master bedroom has a king size bed. The master bath has jetted tub and a steam shower. There is also direct access to the deck and the new 8-person Arctic Spa hot tub. Other guests can access the deck and hot tub from the kitchen.

Upstairs there is an additional king size bedroom with a bath shared with the “bunk room”. The bunkroom has a queen size bed and bunked twin beds.

The fourth bedroom has a queen size bed and en suite bath with large shower.

All bedrooms have flat screened LED TV’s.

The bedroom setup is best suited to a maximum of 8 adults and 4 children.

Finally you will find the radiant in-floor heat will not only keep your feet warm but will maintain a very consistent indoor temperature.

About John Gale

We are retired military (Army/West Point) living in Colorado Springs. We moved to Colorado in 2010 to be close to our 6 grandchildren. We grew up in the Pennsylvania Poconos and have always loved the mountains.

John Gale purchased this house in 2014

Why John Gale chose Sunny Slope

We had been coming to Breckenridge as a family to ski for many years and decided it was time to buy. We chose this location for the proximity to downtown Breckenridge (5-minute drive), yet far enough from town to enjoy the peace and quiet of this beautiful setting. We are on Highway 9 (Main road through town) but far enough back to avoid road noise . We are minutes from the ski lifts, great hiking, snow shoeing, cross country skiing and biking. Breckenridge is one of the most scenic mountain areas in the US with unlimited outdoor activities: snow skiing, snowboarding, tubing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, whitewater rafting, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, ice skating and more.

What makes this house unique

In addition to the "great room" with gas fireplace and large screen TV, there is a loft with air hockey, foosball and a large game table. The "TV room" provide another space for privacy. There is a TV in every bedroom and of course free high-speed internet and WiFi. Outside there is a large deck with hot tub, gas fire pit, and log chairs. Finally, you enjoy the ability to pull into the heated garage to unload on arrival or after a long day of activity.

Beautiful home! Perfect place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay here! The home was clean, beautiful, easy to get to and perfect for our long weekend in Breckenridge! We loved how close it was to town while being far enough away from the hustle and bustle to enjoy the peace and quiet. We can’t wait to go back!

Fantastic Mountain Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Wow! 5 stars do not do this property justice! A wonderful place to stay. Spotless, beautifully furnished and decorated. Much more spacious than we thought and the pictures show.

Our grandchildren really enjoyed the hot tub and the air hockey! The kitchen was well equipped for all our needs. Plenty of pots, pans, dishes and utensils. We had more than enough towels for 11 people, 3 bathrooms and the hot tub.

This property had everything! The hosts were a pleasure to work with. They were responsive, informative and easy to communicate with from start to finish. We could not have asked more from our kind and gracious hosts. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin with us.

Highly recommended!

Home away from Home

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoy this home in the woods with nature all around! There are moose, chipmunks, hummingbirds and fox around the property. The hot tip is perfectly placed to enjoy the crisp air and gorgeous Rocky Mountain starscape. The house is not personalized so it makes the home very comfortable. Decor is very inviting. We will stay here again!

Perfect property for a family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We were amazed at how perfect this home was for our family vacation. The house and property are even better in person than in pictures!! There was plenty of room for everyone. We had 11 people, including 2 toddlers, and there was plenty of space for everyone! We were surprised with how much was supplied and provided for us from shampoo and body wash to hand soap and paper towels. We’ve stayed at other properties where nothing was supplied, so we were pleasantly surprised by this. Everything we needed was there! The downstairs master bedroom and bathroom are an absolute dream! The rooms are all very large with large closets and plenty of storage. The kids loved the upstairs game room and the hot tub. The fire pit was perfect for making s’mores in the evenings. We also loved the large dining room table, which is great for a large group. The location was perfect and was just a quick drive into the heart of Breckenridge. We will definitely stay here again the next time we visit. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay perfect!

Our wonderful mountain home base

  • 5 of 5

There are lots of choices of places to stay in and around Breckenridge, and I am. Fairly particular person. However, my search for the best mountain stay is so much simpler since we found this beautiful Bear Crossing cabin. John and his family thought of everything to make our stay most wonderful. This year, we spent a long weekend with family and enjoyed snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and the International Snow Sculpture festival. This home was the perfect home base. The kitchen was well stocked with all the essentials and some things you wouldn’t expect, including a blender and crock pot, and the little things like stained and some dry goods. Our son loved the air hockey and fooseball table, and everyone loved the hot tub. The cabin looks like a gingerbread house covered in snow, and is so warm and inviting inside and out.

Everything is super well maintained, and makes you feel at home. Dinner reservations for large groups can be trying in Breckenridge during busy times, so the large kitchen and dining room table accommodate a large family well. Johns tips and instructions are also right on point. The cabin can be hard to fine when arriving after dark, but his directions made it effortless. Thanks so much allowing us to stay at your beautiful mountain home, John! This will continue to be our go-to home away from home for future mountain adventures.
