About John Gale
We are retired military (Army/West Point) living in Colorado Springs. We moved to Colorado in 2010 to be close to our 6 grandchildren. We grew up in the Pennsylvania Poconos and have always loved the mountains.
John Gale purchased this House in 2014
Why John Gale chose Sunny Slope
We had been coming to Breckenridge as a family to ski for many years and decided it was time to buy. We chose this location for the proximity to downtown Breckenridge (5-minute drive), yet far enough from town to enjoy the peace and quiet of this beautiful setting. We are on Highway 9 (Main road through town) but far enough back to avoid road noise . We are minutes from the ski lifts, great hiking, snow shoeing, cross country skiing and biking. Breckenridge is one of the most scenic mountain areas in the US with unlimited outdoor activities: snow skiing, snowboarding, tubing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, whitewater rafting, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, ice skating and more.
What makes this House unique
In addition to the "great room" with gas fireplace and large screen TV, there is a loft with air hockey, foosball and a large game table. The "TV room" provide another space for privacy. There is a TV in every bedroom and of course free high-speed internet and WiFi. Outside there is a large deck with hot tub, gas fire pit, and log chairs. Finally, you enjoy the ability to pull into the heated garage to unload on arrival or after a long day of activity.

Everything was great! We will go back and stay again next year!
Wonderful vacation get-away!
This home covers all the bases. Great location - less than 5 minutes to Breckenridge. Though secluded from the highway, the home has direct access to Route 9, which was immediately cleared after snowfall, so getting in and out was easy. The setting is beautiful on two acres backed up to a National Forest. The neighbors on either side are comfortably far enough away, so we never noticed them. The home is clean and beautifully decorated with everything we needed for our week stay. The bedrooms are roomy and the kitchen is well equipped. Everything works! - which has not always been the case with other rentals. The owner stays in touch via email (but not bothersome) to assure you have everything you need. We didn't have any problems we needed resolved, but my sense was that he would have immediately taken care of anything that arose. The hot tub was clean and ready to use! We had five adults, three older teens and two children. Keystone and A-Basin were about 30 to 40 minutes away respectfully. About the same for Copper Mountain. We will definitely look for this home first for our next Breckenridge ski vacation.
Beautiful, comfortable, secluded home!
This home had everything we could have hoped for. The beautiful, well maintained home was large enough for our group of 8 adults. It was far enough from town to feel secluded, yet close enough to get to whatever we wanted to do. The hot tub was an added bonus. We would definitely stay here again!
Wonderful Stay -You will love this house!
We spent 6 days in this beautiful home. It is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. Comfy beds, soft linens, fully equipped kitchen. We spent most of our days sledding in the backyard slope as most of the yard was covered in 4-5-ft of snow. It was magical! We plan to be back next year.
Our wonderful mountain home base
There are lots of choices of places to stay in and around Breckenridge, and I am. Fairly particular person. However, my search for the best mountain stay is so much simpler since we found this beautiful Bear Crossing cabin. John and his family thought of everything to make our stay most wonderful. This year, we spent a long weekend with family and enjoyed snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and the International Snow Sculpture festival. This home was the perfect home base. The kitchen was well stocked with all the essentials and some things you wouldn’t expect, including a blender and crock pot, and the little things like stained and some dry goods. Our son loved the air hockey and fooseball table, and everyone loved the hot tub. The cabin looks like a gingerbread house covered in snow, and is so warm and inviting inside and out.
Everything is super well maintained, and makes you feel at home. Dinner reservations for large groups can be trying in Breckenridge during busy times, so the large kitchen and dining room table accommodate a large family well. Johns tips and instructions are also right on point. The cabin can be hard to fine when arriving after dark, but his directions made it effortless. Thanks so much allowing us to stay at your beautiful mountain home, John! This will continue to be our go-to home away from home for future mountain adventures.
