About Deb Grant

The 'small city, big town' aspect of Portland is what drew us to Portland 25 years ago. I'm a Montana girl who loves the vibrancy of an urban atmosphere and the culture of both the countryside and the town. My husband Chuck and I have partnered on many projects through the years. He currently lives on site, and I live a mile away. We continue to enjoy working together and have put a lot of love into the Portland Belmont House. We now enjoy sharing it with others.

Deb Grant purchased this apartment in 2011

Why Deb Grant chose Portland

We bought this property because of its location, bones and vibes! 128 years of stories to tell. A diamond in the rough with unique character and hidden elegance made it a place worth putting our heart and soul into renovating. Solar panels, stagger studded walls, and ample insulation look to the future while the main floor 8' pocket doors, original fir floors, and intricately carved wood work reveal the past. All new electric and plumbing, and sound absorption channels between floors, help remove the unnecessary aggravations of the past to better enjoy the beauty of the space. Reminder: it is a one house duplex, and the sounds of people above can be heard. Some guests hardly notice. For a guest who is bothered by hearing movement above, the soothing sounds of the small noise machine will help.

What makes this apartment unique

The Belmont House provides a quiet, comfortable home stay within a vibrant, fascinating part of Portland. We are 3 blocks from the famous Sunflower Intersection at SE 33rd and Yamhill, a uniquely Portland part of Portland. The house charms people. The great yard, patio, barbecue, (and fire pit too!) make a person feel out in the countryside, yet, only a block and a half away are the shops, world class, affordable restaurants, gourmet grocery stores, food carts galore. Public transportation is a stone's throw away. Drive down the street and you are in downtown Portland in 4 minutes. Everything you need right out your door.

An amazing place to stay!!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I absolutely LOVED staying there. The place is very well decorated and cute with a beautiful yard in the back. Its in an amazing part of Portland, just blocks from Hawthorne and beautiful parks for my son. I do have to mention that the bed and the pillows probably made it the best night sleep I've had in a long time, really comfy!! Deb was extremely welcoming and kind. Thank you for making our stay in Portland go so smoothly Deb we will definitely visiting you again ;)

Nice apartment with god location

  • 4 of 5

We only stayed for 3 nights. There is a nice sitting area just outside the appertment. The facilities are fine, but when we were there the outdoor temperature were very high 34 degrees c. So it would have been nice if there had been air conditioning.

Great place to stay. Very clean and enjoyable:).

  • 5 of 5

Great place. Clean. Provided things like hair dryer, beach towel, cooking supplies, fans, etc. Pleasant owner :). Enjoyed the location! Lots of great restaurants a few minutes away (walking distance). A few cute shops along Belmont. We biked (used Bikeshare) downtown multiple times and it took about 15-20 minutes. Had a great stay in Portland:).

Perfect little all-in-one

  • 5 of 5

This nice, cool in the summer basement studio was perfect for our stay. Big enough for mom and two kids, with all the amenities in a little studio apartment type room. Spacious room and bathroom with kitchenette, too. TV, plus eating table and chair. My kids really liked the shared yard of the house and made friends with guests on another floor.

Nice, roomy, well appointed accommodation

  • 4 of 5

Loved our stay :) Lots or restaurants within a few blocks, #15 bus stops nearby, Portland is an easy city to get around in.

The only reason I gave it 4 stars over 5 stars, is that it is a basement apartment, and the apartment above has a noisy floor, you can hear people walking, or the person in there wears wooden clogs!

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed your stay. Also, sorry I wasn't able to speak with the guests above. Usually guests are much more quiet when made aware that their loud shoes can be heard below. There are times when it is more of an issue, such as in your case, but it is good for guests to know in advance that the presence of the apartment above can be heard.
