About Denise

My husband, Joe, and I are the homeowners. We have been in the construction business for over thirty years and have several rental properties. We located this cabin in 2011. The cabin was purchased and then completely remodeled. We began renting it out during the Spring of 2012. This is the only property we use as our second home and we stay there as often as possible. We love Pagosa Springs and the surrounding Mountains. The cabin is family friendly and a great place to make lifelong memories. We really enjoy hearing that our guests were satisfied with their stay at the cabin and we do everything we can to make that possible.

Denise purchased this cabin in 2011

Why Denise chose Southwest

Finding Pagosa & the San Juan National Forest is like finding paradise. Its wild, natural location takes you back in time to a slow paced life of simple pleasures and awesome experiences. The surrounding wilderness adds to the breathtaking beauty that captures your spirit when you arrive. The town is filled with specialty shops, restaurants, and outdoor activities, and you're just minutes away from millions of acres of natural forest and wilderness area.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin has new major & minor appliances, new bathrooms, and new vinyl windows. It has new couches, new beds and bedding, and high-quality protective covers for the mattresses and pillows. The cabin stays comfy and cozy all year. It has baseboard electric heaters in every room, but the gas fireplace in the living room alone will keep the entire cabin warm in the sub-zero winter cold. All three bedrooms are connected to a bathroom which makes for convenient access.

Unlike many of the other rental properties in Pagosa Springs, this cabin is located in a quiet, peaceful area with no highway noise. The neighborhood is safe and relaxing.

The cabin is approximately 7,500 feet in elevation on a small hill near Lake Pagosa and is less than 5 minutes from everything in Pagosa Springs. There is a carport to keep snow, ice, and rain off your vehicle and belongings. There also is an enclosed back yard with a privacy fence for sunning, picnicking, and BBQs. The second story back deck balcony is a great place to sit and drink your morning beverage even if it's raining or snowing. The covered front porch makes it possible to get into or out of the cabin with ease while staying out of the weather and, of course, it has the classic front porch swing. There are tall Ponderosa Pine and young Blue Spruce surrounding the property. The cabin is our second home so it is fully stocked with everything you need (except for food, clothing, and personal necessities).

Be aware - NOT a 3 bedroom!

  • 4 of 5

I want to start out by saying this property has an amazing backyard! From morning coffee to picnic table dinners, the fenced in yard was great - comfortable furniture, and an umbrella to get a break from the hot summer sun. However, this property is not a 3-bedroom as advertised. The word "bedroom" implies a door and some privacy, neither of which the loft sleeping area had. I've rented tons of CO properties through VRBO, and this clearly should be marketed as a 2-bedroom plus loft. The kitchen was good - lots of pans and dishes - and it was nice having a grill to cook most of our dinners. I also appreciated the reliable wifi, as neither my husband nor I was able to totally cut ourselves off from work while we were there. We wouldn't book again because of the bedroom situation, but if you don't require 3 private bedrooms, this property is in a great location near the lake and golf course.

Owner's Response: Both pictures of the upstairs loft bedroom clearly state "upstairs loft bedroom". The upstairs loft bedroom is a full-sized bedroom and it is the largest and most beautiful of the three bedrooms. It has a sliding glass door to the rear upstairs balcony where guests can sit and watch wildlife, including deer, geese, & hummingbirds. The loft bedroom also has a sitting area in front of a tall plate glass window where guests enjoy watching the aspen trees blowing in the wind. From the bedroom guests can easily view the beautiful wood ceilings and log walls. The loft bedroom has been one of the favorite places of hundreds of guests over the years.

Love the Little Rabbit

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Little Rabbit was a home away from home. We arrived after a week on the road and were immediately impressed with the attention to detail in the cabin. Everything we needed to cook our meals was provided. If you want a 'home away from home' experience, stay at the Little Rabbit. The cleanliness, organization, comfortable beds, soft linens, and decor created the perfect vacation in the mountains. The outdoor grill made it even more enjoyable for the hubby. It's situated in a very family friendly area with fishing, biking, hiking, and tons of other activities. Thank you again Denise for opening up your home to us! We'll be back for sure!

Excellent

  • 5 of 5

We found the cabin to be warm and cozy. We surprised at how furnished it was. There was nothing that they didn't have. We had brought items thinking it wouldn't be in the cabin and they have thought of everything. The beds were comfortable and the kids loved playing outside and riding the bikes.

Thank you so much for sharing your home with all of us. We truly had a wonderful time!

1 Little Rabbit is a home From Home!

  • 5 of 5

Staff was very friendly and helpful. House was all set and ready for living. Everything was clean and all we needed was our selves, our luggage and our food. Couches, chairs and beds were very comfortable and extra blankets (not needed) and extra towels were available and easy to find. Everything is there for hiking, biking, bathing, or basking. The security lock means no lost keys and it's easy for everyone staying to have access. All the appliances worked great including the gas grill, gas stove and oven, water heater, washer and dryer, and dishwasher. Definitely 5 stars!
