The perfect Big Island location

  • 5 of 5

Other places will advertise "direct access," "million dollar views," or luxury amenities, but you're paying for fluff because this place has everything you need. Beautiful sunsets every night right from your own back yard. A huge yard that is private from the public and the neighbors, has a view of the bay, a wonderful pool shaped like a fish(!) & spa, great gas grill. Inside, a comfortable bedroom with the same view, a good sized living room, and a very compact but completely functional kitchen with a full size fridge. Between the toaster oven, the electric skillet, and the outdoor grill, you are able to cook just about any meal. Window A/C units and television worked perfectly. Everything very clean.

The location is also great, allowing easy access to most any of the attractions and shopping on this side of the island. One of the great conveniences is the shopping center a 5 minute drive away. There are a couple restaurants, a full grocery store, gas station, and a few other community amenities like a post office. Truly a HOME AWAY from home.

Owners were super-easy to work with, attentive but not intrusive. They live on site, but when we were in the unit we never heard them. If I went back to Hawai'i, I would stay here again.

(p.s. I checked the box on "I'd recommend this property for people with disabilities." I wouldn't say this property is wheelchair accessible, but the walk from the parking to the unit is firm and level; I think you could also access the units by going through the owners' garage, which would make the approach all paved. Anyway, within the unit, there's just one small step down to the bedroom, and it's a level walk out to the patio and the pool and yard. The pool has both ladder and stepped entry. So, I just wanted to share that information because I know rental homes can be hard when mobility is an issue, and those details aren't always featured.)

All VRBO should be this nice!

  • 5 of 5

This place was has set the bar really high for all other vrbo places, it was so nice and super clean. Views were fantastic, shopping close by, very nice owners. Great pool and spa, outside shower the best for a morning rinse-off. We will be coming back soon, you cannot find a better place than this for the money. Thank you, Paul & Kay

Magical location

  • 5 of 5

My bride of 35 years and I enjoyed a magical experience at Paul and Kay's beach access home. The location is perfect for a quiet fun filled stay. The location allows easy access to the southern portions of the island but yet not that far from the nothern island attractions. The apartment had all we needed, a small kitchen and a large patio for outside dining. I highly recomend this location.

great vacation place with an at home feeling.

  • 4 of 5

Fantastic property with good privacy. Nice to wake up every day to the view that Paul has pictured. Incredible sunset views within a 5 minute walk. Location is great and close for snorkeling, buying groceries, and happy hour at Kenichi. You can make your trip as laid back as you want.

Week of Amazing!!

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing week in the East unit. The East and West are a bit different. Both with their pros and cons. Figure out which one you prefer and request that one. Everything was just as described, just as we had hoped. The view was beautiful! The hosts were very friendly and helpful without intruding. The place was very clean. We loved having laundry access and loved having an outdoor shower. (There is an indoor shower too of course) There are a lot of places to eat so not having a full kitchen wasn't that big of a problem. We usually weren't home around meal time so it worked out fine. The location is perfect! It is out of the chaos of Kona and right next to Keahou Bay. We did a snorkel tour (Fairwinds) to Captain Cook and it took us about 2 minutes to get to the boat. Also very close to the Sheraton. Go to the deck at Rays on the Bay around 9 p.m. and watch the manta rays come in and feed. So cool!! We can't wait to come back!!
