private retreat, perfect for honeymooners. Walk to your own beach!
This is NOT A CONDO! The Nook is a brand new one bedroom, 2 bath, kitchen, living room and dining room oceanfront hideaway. It is perfect as a honeymoon spot or a couples retreat. It can also be combined with the main house to support a large family or party of 8-10 people (see listing #500826). The Nook has 180 degree ocean views. There is a deck in the front and a private deck off the bedroom. It is a fantastic spot and will provide memories to last! At times the main house and the apartment may be rented at the same time.
Experience the roar of crashing waves and the delicate mist of warm saltwater as it crashes along the coast. This is a secluded piece of paradise overlooking turquoise water with turtles, rays and starfish. Walk to your own private beach where you can snorkel in privacy with waters all to yourself. The ocean may change daily. Some weeks it is like glass while others you can surf on the waves! If you're looking for a bustling tourist destination, this is not the place for you.
Ocean Overlook is only 10 minutes from Red Hook Harbor where ferries can take you to other islands, including Virgin Gorda with its beautiful rock formation and caves, St. John with prime snorkeling and hiking, and Jost Van Dyke with its sleepy Caribbean fishing villages.

Clean and comfortable with unbelievable views!
We stayed at this home for 8 days and Helene was fantastic. The home was exactly as advertised with all the comforts of home. The views were breathtaking from every room in the house. The house is in a great location and only 10 minutes from Red Hook, 15 minutes from downtown and 10 minutes from Magen's Bay!
We will certainly be coming back and staying at this home again!
Tranquility and Privacy for a Relaxing Vacation
The location of this property is what makes it special - right on a quiet bay with a semi-private beach. It is somewhat remote and the drive down a steep hill is not for the faint of heart, but worth the journey for the privacy and peaceful atmosphere. This is a great choice for a couple who prefer a quiet location away from the resorts. The apartment itself was comfortable with all the amenities needed to self-cater. The property has many tropical plants and trees around and a path that leads to the beach. Helene was a great hostess, although we never met, she was prompt in communication about our reservation and provided clear instructions on reaching the property. If we visit St. Thomas again then we are very likely to return to this beautiful location. Thanks Helene!
First, I would like to say dealing with Helene(from beginning to end) was first rate! She not only answered all my questions, but gave more info than asked for because she knew exactly the questions I would be asking next! Obviously, she knows her property and guests.
She had several books there that helped give some direction on things to do and great places to eat.
The property is a little difficult to get to, but once you are there, the only thing you will say to yourself is...'Sooooo worth the trip!'....The journey is part of the fun isn't it?
Her directions are spot on! The house is equipped with anything you could possible want.....including a food processor and french press for my favorite coffee!
The bed and furniture are stylish and comfortable. I think it truly represents the culture and surroundings.
The upper deck is to die for. But, the bottom part of the house has equally impressive deck.
The internet was a little whacky, but we made due and who wants to look at the internet with a view like this anyway! We only noticed due to a couple of days of bad weather.
There are a couple of small things that could use a little attention, but this really is a wonderful place to stay and get away from it all (or, take a short drive and enjoy the cities below).
We Loved our stay at your beautiful home. Will definitely visit again!

Thank you for your wonderful review! I hope that you will come again. Helene
This is an exceptional and remote setting, best for enjoying the crashing of waves and the majesty of the sea. The view is simply stunning and the setting is quite private. The apartment is beautiful and functional. The perfect romantic hideaway very user friendly.
Thank you wonderful guests!
Amazing, off-the-beaten-path, quiet and romantic spot!
Private, secluded, quiet and just wow. The photos on the site DO NOT do this place justice. The view is spectacular and the privacy is over the top. There's nobody around that is enjoying the view like this rental unit does. Just 20-30 feet below your deck the waves are crashing against the rocks (like, straight down). You can't imagine how secluded this place is until you get there. The space in the unit is fairly decent, but I advise you open the curtains to get the full effect and to feel a bit more spacious. The kitchen is well equipped and you can save a lot of money by cooking for yourselves.
Thoughts as we settled in further:
Wow, this is really private. Again, looking around at night or in the middle of the day - there is nobody to see. If you enjoy quiet time, this is the place for you. Read a book while hearing the surf, go snorkling without being disturbed... sunbath, take a mid-day nap... whatever! Oh, and the private beach? Yeah, it's a community style beach but nobody uses it! It's effectively a private beach just for you! Granted, it's not as "beach" feeling as Lindquist (our favorite) or Magens, but you don't have to drive to it and there's free parking.
Okay, so there were a few things that we found odd, but it has nothing to do with the house so we're not going to let it change our 5 star rating. First, the walk down to the beach isn't for the easily deterred. Once you get to the bottom of the steps, you've got to follow the bungee cords to stay on path. It's a bit rustic, but you'll get there. Second, the craftmanship on the island (building maintenance and repairs) is lacking, as is evident everywhere you go where you see oddly handled repairs. Not sure if it's a budget thing, or if the locals just don't have the talent to do it properly. Thirdly, watch your belongings when touring the island. Take only what you need with you and keep an eye out.
Driving - Driving in Saint Thomas is trippy - but you get used to it. So many people said we needed a 4WD vehicle, but we went budget with a Nissan Versa and it was absolutely fine. We didn't feel limited at all. Granted, we didn't have much rain while we were there (and the road to the unit is dirt) so YMMV.
Dining - Buy food and cook yourselves. We spent only $200 in food for a week and cooked all our meals (except the one time we went out and spent $95 for dinner and no dessert). Eat like royalty for cheap... Plaza Extra!
The stay was amazing it was a beautiful view for a great price!
We stayed here for our honeymoon and it was the best place imaginable! The view was great and it was so close to many of the popular beaches. The house had everything we needed and was pretty easy to get to! Would recommend to anyone coming to St. Thomas.
