Affordable, family and pet friendly accommodations on Galveston Island.

This quaint cottage is perfect for families! Featuring 3 bedrooms/two baths and sleeping for up to 9 people, an equipped kitchen, fenced yards, washer/dryer, cable, high speed wireless wifi, dog friendly and close to everything fun on the island all nested into a charming family friendly neighborhood.

In order to rent our home you must provide a copy of photo ID (driver's license or passport) before the booking process can continue. You will also need to print and sign the rental agreement that is included. Please add these as an attachment to your booking inquiry to proceed further.

This is a home and not an event center. Events (reunions, bridal showers, bachelor parties, graduation parties, etc.) are not to be hosted from this property. You will be asked to vacate the property if you are found abusing the privilege of of staying with us.

There are other rental units on the property with separate entries. Please do not impede entrances to those properties and please refrain form disrupting other guests. If we receive complaints, we reserve the right to cancel the remainder of your visit with your immediate departure from the property.

You will receive a rental quote once you have submitted your inquiry. The quote includes your rental price per night, an insurance policy against any damage, hotel taxes and the security deposit (fully refundable if no claims are made).

Please note that we do not have any other hidden fees. We do exercise the right to change the rental cost for any additional guests over the listed capacity and for pets.

All payments must be complete 7 days prior to arrival. We do not accept money at check-in even though the automated payment requests from VRBO will say so. If you do not have payment completed 7 days before your arrival date your reservation will be canceled.

Once payment is received through VRBO, and within 48 hours of arrival, you will receive a welcome letter giving you the pertinent details of how to access the property. This will only be provided once the reservation is paid in full.

Home-sharing is a new concept for many and may be a little confusing. It basically comes down to the fact that you are guests in our home, a home we come home to when you leave. We are not a hotel or an empty house that is perpetually rented. This whole process revolves around trust between us and you. VRBO acts as a middleman to offer both parties security for payment processing and insurance, but does not dictate the owner's rules of the house though some of their automated responses may suggest otherwise. It boils down to "our house, our rules" and most of these are available to read in our rental agreement. If you have a question, please feel free to contact us.

I know this sounds a little complicated, but it really is a better way to vacation once all the paperwork is done. It sure as heck beats a cramped hotel room and noises coming from the halls and everywhere else when you are trying to relax (trust me, I travel for a living!). Utilizing short term rentals is a family's way to have a home away from home, and a homeowner's way to share their home and locale with others with limited risk but maximum comfort. So there may be a few rules, but they protect you, your family and finally the homeowner.

Hello future guest!

Our family purchased this property in December 2014 because of our love for the beach and the city of Galveston!

As a child, my dad would bring us to Galveston when we visited him in the summers. My fondest childhood memories are mostly of things done right on this very island - from pulling in my first crab from the bayou, riding my first horse on the beach, encountering my first alligator gar and even chumming for sharks on a surfboard!

Yes, it brings chills to my bones to think of these things 30+ years later, but I just couldn't wait to have an opportunity to come back and have some of this same experiences with my family. I want my kids to have some cool memories and wanted to open our home for others to be able to have some island experiences as well.

Why Stefanie Balasubramanian chose Galveston

Our little cottage was built in the early 1940's. It was one of few homes in the neighborhood that survived after Ike. It is full of charm and character and if walls could talk, I bet there would be some pretty good stories!

The home is nestled in a family oriented, working class neighborhood off the main street where the neighbors talk in their front yards and hang together on the weekends.

Amenities are plentiful! Grocery stores, drug stores, restaurants and shopping are just steps away! Starbucks, the Seawall and Pier 61 are just a few more steps, but under a mile away. Moody Gardens and Schlitterbahn are only a mile and half west of us as is the Pleasure Pier to the East. Seawolf Park, the Strand and Historic district is about 3 miles and Galveston Island State Park is around 9 miles. Not to mention, we have easy access to I-45 as we are just off exit 1A!

As a family who travels quite a bit, we understand how important it is to have a place you can connect as a family when you are away from home. Hotels are stifling and uncomfortable with lots of distractions and interruptions, so why settle for that when you can enjoy a comfortable and unhurried vacation in the comfort of your 'home away from home'?

Vacation Victory may not have all the amenities of a hotel, but we aim for you to enjoy the experience of the island. Sitting on the porch with your beverage of choice and enjoying the birds singing is so much more relaxing than hearing the shrill screams of the pool or guests running up and down the halls in the middle of the night. Peace and solitude awaits you at our family friendly home.

All I can say is that after a long week (or weeks) on the road, we love driving over the causeway and heading to our little cottage. It is a breath of fresh air and instant rejuvenation. There is something about leaving the mainland that gives us a sense of freedom, a peace, an inner calm. We hope you feel the same.

What makes this house unique

'Simplicity' is why we decided to buy this humble little gem. The open floor plan, tile floors, and just enough character makes this cottage charming and comfortable for our whole family.

This little cottage had once been loved greatly by a gardener. There is evidence of this in the more mature trees that survived the storms. As a gardener, I am in the process if renovating the beds and installing more edibles in the landscape to enhance the cottage. Please feel free to harvest any of the edibles that are in season.

Beautiful, comfortable home

The house looks really small from outside but DON'T LET IT FOOL YOU!!!! It's actually pretty spacious inside. The rooms are a good size, the beds are comfortable, its clean and quiet, there are a lot of extra amenities and everything is pretty close by. Highly recommend this home and will definitely come back! Oh and don't forget to bring some has a Kurig!!

Great, well maintained home!

We had a great time on our vacation! This home was well maintained, clean, and had everything that we needed (except a toaster 😉򒐩. We highly recommend staying here, great place, great people and plenty of room.. The only thing that I would say I was slightly disappointed in is how far away it was from the beach. It's not far at all but I don't know that we would "walk" to it!! Thanks for everything!!!

Great House in Galveston!

We all had such a great time! The house was exactly as described, very clean, well laid out, spacious, and had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend away. Our dogs enjoyed running around in the backyard; and the youngest member of our group enjoyed the bunk beds, her personal office, and the board games we found stored in the coffee table. Stefanie was great with explaining the check in/check out procedures and other communications. Thank you so much for everything!

Home away from home

We recently stayed at this property when we came into town for our daughters dance competition. We absolutely loved the home. It was everything we needed. The home was clean, and the property manager was very courteous, friendly and helpful! I definitely recommend this property and hope to be back someday!

Great place to stay.

The house was wonderful decorated. The house had everything we needed. The only thing missing was maybe a couple kid friendly plates. But that was easly fixed with paper plates. Located near shopping and entertainment. Close to the beach. It was a great place to stay.

Great getaway for 2 couples with 4 kids!

What the neighborhood lacks, the house makes up for. It was perfect for our group! Two families of 4 with lots to celebrate. Very clean and very accommodating. The only complaints - not enough towels (but on site laundry made washing a possibility) and the BBQ grill was pretty dirty. I'm sure that's the last thing the housekeepers think of when turning the house around between guests but we found the supplies to clean it and were able to grill our steaks to perfection. Beds were comfy and linens were nice.

We will definitely consider staying here again!

Owner's Response: Hello and thanks for choosing to stay at our home! We strive for a comfortable experience for our guests and was taken aback by your mention of lack of towels. I am assuming that you were unaware of where the extra towel stash was kept. We have over 20 towels available to guests at all times. Did you reach out to our property manager about the insufficient towels for your family? I am sure he would have let you know where you could have found more. I do apologize for the grill. It should be cleaned after every guest but if the weather was uncooperative at the time of cleaning they probably omitted it from their list of "to-do's" for safety reasons. My apologies. We can't choose our neighbors, who seem to change with the tide, but that is typical island life. The permanent residents around us are very good, working folks who keep a good balance between the renters and permanent residents. As we reside on the property when our jobs allow, and have a permanent resident who lives in the adjacent apartment, there is a mutual respect of one another and we tend to look out for each other's property. The location may not offer the best views, but it is a quiet retreat away from the hustle and bustle of Seawall and The Strand. We take all that into consideration and believe we have priced our accommodations fairly to accommodate families who are looking for a home-away-from-home for their island stay. Again, thank you so much for the review as it validated what we strive to accomplish for anyone visiting the island - to provide a confortable and relaxing experience. PHOTO ID IS TO BE SENT WITH EVERY RENTAL INQUIRY. A rental agreement and pet addendum (if applicable) must be signed and returned or your reservation may be cancelled. All reservations must be paid through the VRBO system at least 7 days prior to check-in. The automated payment request from VRBO will say otherwise, but our rules override what their letter states. A welcome letter will be sent within 48 hours of check-in giving our guests all the particulars of how to contact our property manager and how to access the house. Check-in is after 3pm and check-out is by 11am. A penalty of $100 will be assessed and filed against anyone not cooperating with these rules.
