Périgord Noir, 10 min de las cuevas de Lascaux y Montignac, a 25 min de Sarlat, capital de la gastronomía. Magnífica vista, vasta finca de 2 hectáreas, casa de 240 m2. Piscina abierta y climatizada de abril/mayo a septiembre/octubre (según solicitudes), cocina bien equipada, habitaciones cuidadosamente decoradas, con capacidad para 12 personas, más 1 niño y equipo para 1 bebé.

Fácil de habitar por su diseño: 2 cocinas, 6 dormitorios con entradas independientes, 5 baños, numerosas terrazas, mesas, sillas.
La propiedad consta de 2 espacios conectados por la gran terraza.
En la casa principal: las paredes son de piedra vista con en la planta baja:
- una gran sala de estar de 50 m2 con una cocina abierta bien equipada (varios juegos de mesa, 2 refrigeradores, 1 congelador, 1 horno, 5 quemadores, microondas, lavavajillas, etc.) con una hermosa vista al jardín, mesa grande, sofá frente a la chimenea y TV Satélite;
- una gran sala de estar de 40 m2 con 3 grandes sofás y sillones, 1 escritorio, techo alto, ventanales que dan a la terraza y al jardín;
- 1 baño con ducha,
- baños separados;
en el piso :
- 1 cuarto de baño con ducha y WC,
- 1 dormitorio con cama doble, lavabo, muy linda vista al parque, sol desde las 6am;
- 1 otro hermoso dormitorio con cama doble, muy linda vista al parque, sol desde las 6am,
- 1 otro dormitorio con 2 camas de 90 cm.

En la otra parte de la propiedad:
- 1 dormitorio con 1 cama doble y 1 sofá cama que se abre a una hermosa terraza de 20 m2 con una vista magnífica, 1 baño con ducha, WC separado;
- 1 dormitorio con 2 camas de 90 cm, 1 baño con ducha, aseo independiente, entrada independiente desde la terraza de la piscina

This is a lovely old and rather lived in house that we as a family enjoyed emencely. As one would expect there are a few downsides. The greatest of which were that there was no soap at all and very little toilet paper in the place. Come prepared! No note of welcome from our host and the toilet seat in our room had akready fallen off when we arrived. The pool was lovely, warm and the electric cover worked well. We all swam every day.

Lovely home for a family and friends vacation

We enjoyed our stay- perfect for a large group, including an infant and 2 children. Everyone enjoyed the pool and the upper terrace for breakfast and dinner. Well located and spectacular views. Line and Bruno were very communicative and prone to respond quickly.

Almost totally disappointing.Arrived and initial impression was good as front of property is smart, but after opening the door this evaporated.The downstairs soft furnishings were all covered by synthetic protective stretch covers - we could have been in a care home. All surfaces were dusty. Kitchen fridge so small and seal defective. Glassware so poor - some wine goblets but nothing to allow a long drink. Cutlery all old and shabby. No sharp knives. Lighting poor - it’s not uplifting. The web pictures are totally flattering - don’t expect it.Artwork throughout the house is dire - appears to be the work of an amateur who should understand their limitations. Some bookcases throughout but all with dusty old haphazard collections.Upstairs uninspiring. Bedlinen was fit for boarding school. Virtually no hanging space. We had clothes hanging from doorjams for 2 weeks.Patio at back of house was unfinished cement plateau. All plants dead both in and out of planters. BBQ was unusable (was replaced on request but not constructed - we completed that). This area was really poor.Pool was really nice but loungers all very old and several torn and clearly defective. The poolside umbrellas (2) were tiny and blew over in the slightest wind. Inadequate.Poolside rooms were again not properly cleaned - bathrooms had mould - along with these we spent the first day cleaning the whole place.Obviously we can’t recommend this place. It has great potential but really lacks quality.

Your review is so unnecessarily harsh and disparaging that we feel it is necessary to provide a few factual clarifications: The sofas and armchairs are covered with protective covers for hygiene reasons. They are cleaned regularly, as the property welcomes more than 200 guests every summer. The house has three refrigerators, two of which are in the main house. A new set of wine glasses was purchased last year. The bed linen provided is of very good quality. The books are works by classical authors, including beautiful full-leather-bound editions. Most of the paintings are by the artist Suzy Verpillot. The bedrooms are equipped with wardrobes and/or chests of drawers, as well as a sufficient number of clothes hangers. Regarding the outdoor areas, temperatures exceeded 35°C during your stay. The plants, which require regular watering in such conditions, were not watered and therefore did not survive. The barbecue was replaced at your request, and someone came to the property specifically to install it. Contrary to what you state in your review, you did not assemble it. Personal tastes are perfectly legitimate, but they should not be presented as established facts. We are always happy to accept constructive criticism when it is objective and respectful.

A paradise in the Dordogne!

When we arrived at the villa we were impressed. The house offers everything you could wish. The description of the house and the inventory is very precise. The swimming pool is excellent. Everything is in good working order and the owners are very friendly and responsive to keep it that way. Plenty of room for our family of 12 people, covering 3 generations. We all want to come back here!

Be informed before booking!Arrived on a hot day to a very warm house-no surprise. Not expected was the cobwebs and spiders EVERYWHERE including on the toaster &across the toilet bowl. Everywhere we walked we were hit w/cobwebs. Kitchen table was covered w/tiny dead bugs. The bedrooms in the lower building were too musty to consider sleeping in. The pool appeared to not have been cleaned in a while with debris on the cover, surface & bottom.Opened the sliding door in the living room to cool the room, trying to make staying work, & a giant wasp flew in. Only ONE window in the two buildings had a window screen, so no way to cool the house down w/o bugs getting in.Within an hour we concluded we either had to spend hours cleaning ourselves & still worry about spiders in the bedrooms or leave. We messaged the hosts, who were very dismissive. The reply said of course bugs came in b/c the house was “in the woods”. They then suggested opening the windows to cool the house down and to get rid of the musty smell in the lower building bedrooms - huh, keep them closed, but also open them?They claimed it had been cleaned for 12 hrs the day before. Either not true, or they had a HUGE spider/bug infestation. The sheets appeared to be clean, but the house was definitely NOT clean.The hosts said we made a bad choice, and that was a true statement because the house was not like the photos since they didn't show the bugs & webs everywhere & a dirty pool.We left within the hour.

Tired looking property

The location was gorgeous, but inside it was quite grubby and tired looking.Lots of equipment in the kitchen had not been cleaned properly. The linens however we're very clean .The whole place needs a really good deep clean

Great week

Had a lovely time. House spacious and interesting. Only criticisms are it could do with 2 or 3 fans as we were very hot at night particularly in the rooms by the pool. Some of the outdoor furniture was looking a little tired and needed a refresh. Other than that it was great. Domestic lady who greeted us was lovely despite having her work cut out cleaning such a big house on her own. All in all a great week.

Thunder Storm

On the second night a thunderstorm brought part of the roof down. We had to move two of our beds into the kitchen and the falling in roof was covered outside by a plastic sheet. The dishwasher in the upper building did not work so we took the plates up and down to the dishwasher next to the pool. The property is lovely but could do with some renovations.

I should point out that there was an exceptional event involving rain, hail, and overflows in the Dordogne in April 2025. The roof of a 20 m² extension was damaged (moved and broken tiles), and the bedroom ceiling let rainwater through. Roof and ceiling work will begin on May 5, 2025, and everything will be in order for the next pitches by the end of May. Regarding the dishwasher, the pump broke down. It's a recent Bosch dishwasher. Darty came to the rescue and ordered the part. Thank you for finding the property charming. We apologize for any inconvenience during your vacation. We are doing everything we can to restore the house to a pleasant condition.

Dream come true

This was a holiday we had planned during covid, all about friends getting together again after a long time apart. The house was perfect, comfortable, so well stocked for a large group with different ages of kids, and a sensational pool and view of the forest! We loved visiting local village for dinner, canoeing, caves etc - but the best times of all were sat around the house together taking in the silence! Enough spaces to do our own thing, whilst also being able to easily come together for meals and hangouts. This place is everything we could have hoped for and more. Unreal!

A wonderful place to calm down

We had a comfortable, cosy and inspiring stay at this wonderful house. My daughter, my son and me had a real close and warm time. In such a perfect atmosphere built up with love for every detail there is no place for any bad feelings. I had to leave my bed every morning at 06.15h to see the sunrise. This is a good place to stay if you value some peace and quiet. It is secluded in woodland, and there is very little traffic on the nearby road. The grounds are extensive but for the most part overgrown and inaccessible to all but the intrepid. The pool area layout is excellent and probably the best thing about the property, we spent lots of time down there. The pool itself is very well-maintained and a pleasure to swim in, day or night.The house has character and has been furnished in a quirky way with some interesting antique-style objects, which might not be to everyone's taste. There are hundreds of books but almost all are in French. Rooms are large and the furnishings comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped but we were surprised not to find a more modern corkscrew, it being France.The nearby town of Montignac was a pleasant surprise, the old parts being very attractive. There is a good range of restaurants, encouraging us to eat out every night.All in all, we enjoyed our stay here.

Delightful Location in Characterful House

The house is beautifully situated and the layout with the terraces, outdoor dining table and pool area worked perfectly for our group of 5 adults. We found all we needed in the kitchen for dining in - plentiful fridge space and super Smeg cooker. The bedrooms and living spaces are full of quirky antique furniture and books everywhere (which we loved). The Wifi in the main house was strong.The reason for 4* is that the bathroom in the main house is intended to serve 3 bedrooms, so that could feel tight if there were more guests and the top floors creak so much that anyone going to the loo in the night is in danger of waking up everyone else. Obviously, not a problem for some but it was for us. Finally, we were at the house in the week of the heatwave and the bedrooms were very hard to cool down, despite the two excellent fans: we could have done with a fan in each bedroom and would suggest anti-insect mesh in the windows so that the windows could be kept safely open at night. All in all we had a wonderful stay and were delighted by the local area.

Thank you for your comments. The house, given its components, deserved a 5-star rating, in my opinion. Just a few clarifications: 1/ In the main house, there are two bathrooms for the three bedrooms (as indicated in the listing description): one upstairs and the other on the ground floor. 2/ The parquet flooring creaks because we wanted to keep the original parquet flooring; the house dates back to 1760. 3/ We are in the countryside, surrounded by woods, so there are insects. Disappointment

I needed a property for a group of 10 adults to act as a base to tour the Périgord Noir region. It was in a good quiet location and had a pool which was a requirement. Sadly, the house and outbuildings are in a state of decline. We experienced frequent sewage smells, poor plumbing with insufficient hot water and flooding showers.The kitchen was unhygenic with mouse droppings in drawers, on crockery and in cupboards. As our stay was quite short we chose to eat out. The owners could fix these problems over a winter season. The property is let down by poor maintenance.

We are surprised to have this type of comments 7 weeks after your stay. No other tenant who came after you was full of the types of inconveniences you mention and we actually had 5 stars in October. If you had reported the odor and drainage problems to me I would have called a plumber immediately (it could simply be a misplaced siphon). The house is a 19th century manor house, perfectly maintained. I think that this house with stylish furniture in an idyllic setting is most often very popular. We are sorry that you did not have a good stay. Nous sommes surpris d’avoir ce type de commentaires 7 semaines après votre séjour. Aucun autre locataire venu après vous ne s’est plein des types de désagréments que vous mentionnez et nous avons d’ailleurs eu 5 étoiles en octobre. Si vous m’aviez signalé les problèmes d’odeurs et d’écoulement j’aurais fait intervenir immédiatement un plombier (ce pouvait être simplement un syphon déplacé). La maison est un manoir du 19e siecle, parfaitement entretenue. Je pense que cette maison avec des meubles de style dans un cadre idyllique est le plus souvent très appréciée. Nous sommes désolés que vous n’ayez pas passé un bon séjour.

House need and urgent renovation

Area is super, very nice 'base camp' for trips in the area. The house urgently need to be renovated. Lot's of lights were not working, no closets for clothes in the bedrooms, most of the sunbeds needed to be replaced, sun umbrella needed to be fixed, we tried to temperarly fix them with tolson tapes. Beside the accidental meeting with the cleaning lady, we didn't see anyone... only the pool boy past bye 2 x early in the morning. Cleaning lady was on her own and was just not able to properly clean the house. Many of our guests were cleaning their rooms themselves. We had a room with a fire place and a dusty bookshelf. On the floor there was still a handkerchief of one of the earlier guests. No change of towels for 14 days. On the other hand.. we had an issue with the coffee machine and the BBQ and after contacting the owner these were fixed same day.

You rate our house 2, this is the 1st time in 14 years of renting that we have this rating, before you and after you, customers have rated it 5 stars. The house is essentially a 19th century building and you have to know how to appreciate its charm and authenticity. To answer your various points: 3 bedrooms with wardrobes and 3 bedrooms with dressers. Due to thunderstorms, bulbs may have failed. We have a stock for this purpose. The deckchairs are very regularly replaced (6 new in 2023) as well as the parasols (4 new in 2023) 8 hours of cleaning are carried out at least at each change of tenant Thank you for mentioning our reactivity for a new barbecue. We do everything to ensure that tenants enjoy an excellent stay.

Delightful!

Just back from a weeks stay in this delightful property, a trip originally conceived for my 60th Birthday which turned out to be at the height of the Covid pandemic. I must firstly sincerely thank Line and Bruno for their flexibility and patience with us in allowing us to rebook not once but twice. Covid brought a degree of anxiety to travel but Line was quick to communicate and supportive. We finally made it! 🙏 The property itself is charming with an older main house with spacious living and a well equpped kitchen area, an outside courtyard with a BBQ, al fresco dining table and stunning views. The lower building houses three bedrooms, one of which, poolside, has fridge and cooking facilities. Cold drinks poolside hurrah! Our party encompassed an age range from 86 to 21. Slight mobility issue for my mother up and down the steps to the pool but we took our time and managed. Everyone had a wonderfully relaxing time. The pool was balmy, grounds extensive and secluded. The property is a little remote but that was the joy of it and there is lots to see and do locally. We enjoyed Montignac, Lascaux, Canoeing on the Rive and simply being together in the charming property. Book with confidence and I hope you enjoy as much as we did.

Would not recommend, which is a shame as has real potential

Pool was the only gem, general house would benefit from some general maintenance and better cleaning. There is no cleaning kit available to clean during stay. Kitchen has ant problem and most rooms have hairy caterpillar problems.Two double and one twin room in the main house share a bathroom. There is a further bathroom near the kitchen. The annex has en-suite bedrooms, one upper double with terrace and a lower level double and twin rooms. However the lower bedrooms smell musty with damp issues which seriously need to be addressed and were plagued with bug problems, (THEY SHOULD NOT BE USED UNTIL ISSUES ADDRESSED). The other is aware as there is a dehumidifier in the twin room which has to be emptied every day. Their upper bedroom, bathroom fans do not work and is causing mould. The terrace has over grown vines and ivy, and very slippy when wet.The garden is over grown plants on steps leading down to the pool with no handrail. Some patio furniture is in a poor condition, a chair leg gave way and our daughter was lucky not to have been seriously injured.I am sad to have written such bad feedback but the property is in a remote location and could be amazing with some general maintenance but is not in a standard other French holiday homes in which we have stayed and for that reason we would not recommend.

The property doesn't match your apparently very sterile taste. You made a mistake in your choice. This is no reason to downgrade our rating; the 1 is unjustified. The house is in the middle of the woods, so there may be insects; this is completely normal. The extracts from the description you provide are consistent with those of Abritel, so you get what you paid for. Yes, on the terrace of one of the bedrooms, there are vines on the railing and, moreover, very good grapes and ivy on the wall, which many find charming. Cleaning is done perfectly between each tenant (12 hours).
