This home was built and is owned by a landscape and home architect! Also, the owner is vegan so there is a fully functioning micro farm on the property.
This modern home features recycled distressed hard wood floors on the upper level. Also on that level there is a glass floor going into the master bedroom.
The living room features a 55' television with most cable channels. The kitchen is all granite counter tops with stainless steel appliances.
The downstairs level features all painted concrete floors. The stair case is also all stainless steel as well.
The third bonus room features a queen sized bed.
In the back of the property there is also a 30 foot high deck with lounge furniture, a heater and a new 6 person Hot Springs Spa.
The entire property is extremely secluded for it's location in the center of town.
The property is located approximately 10 minutes by walking to downtown Hillcrest. The airport, downtown, beaches, Sea World, Zoo, Balboa Park, etc.... are all just minutes away from this centrally located home.

I live in San Diego and own a catering / event design company. I also own a condo in Las Vegas, Puerto Vallarta, and Maui.
Zapher Dajani purchased this house in 2006
This is an incredibly unique property. First, as a vegan, we created a fully functional micro farm on property. Second, my partner is a landscape and building architect. So every possible detail is impressive. Finally, it's so close to everything with only a 10 minute walk to downtown Hillcrest.
Secluded yet central to everything. The secluded garden setting is nothing short of feeling paradise in person. Plenty of off street parking.

The house was amazing! Upon arrival Zapher was incredibly warm and welcoming. The house feels very private and secluded but is close to everywhere we wanted to go. The decor is stylish and manages to make an ultra modern house feel warm. Next time I visit San Diego I wouldn't hesitate to rebook.
My kids want me to buy this place. Not every architectural feature or decoration was our taste, and some things need a bit of TLC, but every major thing was good or better than good. Most favorably impressed with the location and the yard. The owner has clearly made an effort to make the place interesting, not just a box with beds. Wouldn't hesitate to book it again next time the opportunity presents.
I loved the location of this home. Located at the end of the street, it was quiet and peaceful and we enjoyed hearing the birds sing. The house was clean and well maintained, and the upstairs bed was AMAZING. Usually the beds are soft and worn out in rentals, but this one was firm and comfortable. The lush greenery in the yard made it hard to head indoors. A great home and the owners were very good hosts. Responded to emails within minutes. Would love to stay here again.
Property was amazing. Derick and Zapher were great hosts. Hope to be back! Thanks!!
This place is a gem. It's 6 minutes away from San Diego downtown, but has that tranquility you need if you just want to spend some quality time with your friends. The rooms are clean, modern and spacious. And the garden is absolutely gorgeous - there is a bridge and a waterfall + fish pond that lights up at night. Most importantly, the host is super friendly. I really enjoyed my stay at Zapher's place. And if I ever go to San Diego again for a night or two, this is the place where I will stay.
The house is in a beautiful, secluded setting and very attractively decorated. Everything was in working order and Zapher was very responsive to our questions. We did not, however, find the house very comfortable, particularly the LR furniture. The lighting in the kitchen, dining room, LR, and outside entry is inadequate. If it has been raining, both routes from the street to the entrance are treacherous. The stairs to the hot tub are very safe, and it was well kept and a huge treat! The linens were good quality, but there were only 2 beach towels and no face cloths. Towel racks are non-existent aside from one in a recess with little ventilation. There were not enough hangers for our clothes, let alone for our towels. A laundry drying rack would be very welcome. The kitchen is fairly well-stocked, but chipped dishes need to be replaced and salad plates, cereal bowls, and teaspoons added. After a few days we found that the dishwasher worked adequately only on the Extra Hot setting. The listing promises "Roku, Netflix, and most cable channels" but we found only basic cable. We did enjoy our stay in spite of what we recognize are trivial complaints.
