About the property

3 bayview BR, 2 Bath, 16'x32' bayside deck, fenced in side yard, private beach.

This is not just a house for rent it is a home with family memories and local history displayed throughout. This home was built by my father in the 1950s. We have just finished a complete renovation, and it feels like a retreat.

It has an attached two car carport. Three ingress/egress points: carport door, front door & Bayside door. The carport door opens into a full kitchen with laundry. It has full size appliances with front loading washer/dryer and it is fully stocked with the basic necessities and essentials required for a pleasant stay. The kitchen opens into the family room with games, tv, dvd player, wireless speaker & fireplace. Through the living room you come to the bay room and dining room with huge windows to take in the gorgeous views of the bay, port & marina. The hall off the LR leads to the bedrooms & baths. First you come to the twin bed room that is equipped with a tv & bay view. Next is the full size bed room with bay view. Across from these rooms is the main bath with tub & shower. Further down the hall is the master bedroom with a king bed, private bath, reading area and also with a bay view.

Now for the outside. Just outside the bay side door is an outside shower and fenced in side yard. Right next to that is a relaxing brick patio with a wood burning fire pot, table & chairs and beautiful bay view. Also on the bay side of the house is a 16'X32' tree shaded deck with chairs, picnic table and benches for you to relax and enjoy the views and the wonderful bay breeze. Four kayaks are stored next to the deck and are available for your use. From the deck and all the Bay side windows you can see the huge grass front yard that leads to your private bay front beach complete with beach chairs, bench swing and fire pit. Take a look at the photos tab to get a taste of what you might see from the beach and/deck.

The house is stocked with bath towels/cloths, soaps, detergents, cleaning supplies, hair dryers iron & ironing board, dvds and a special 'forget me not' basket with most anything you might have forgotten. You are also welcome to enjoy the 'put-n-take' library just at the hall entrance.

About Ellen Mapelsden or Robbie Fehrenbach

As my family grew in numbers, my father built this Bayfront home. My parents, two sisters, brother and I created so many wonderful memories here and would love for you to have the opportunity to have your own experiences and adventures in this incredible neighborhood.

Robbie & I love St. Andrews. We live here and have operated our local coffee house for the past 17 years in St. Andrews, while working with the neighborhood residents, businesses and community leaders to revitalize this wonderful sleepy village. Having recently sold our business, we re-directed our lives to the path to restore my childhood home in an effort to carry on my parents' legacy of a warm, peaceful and inviting place to live, even if only for a short visit.

This is my family home built by my father in 1958. My parents raised my younger brother and two sisters and me in this warm and inviting home. It is directly on the bay in a tree canopied Historic neighborhood. Not only did these surroundings influence our childhoods, but it has influenced the childhoods of several generations as it was the site of many family and friends gatherings over the years. It was one of my mother's greatest joys to see people appreciate the surroundings here and have a great time while doing it. We know she is smiling down at the chance to spread the fun and enjoyment and adventure this homestead has to offer.

What makes this house unique

Stunning views day & night of the your private beach, the bay, St. Andrews Marina and Panama City Port from the 16' x 32' deck, the brick patio, the bay room and every bedroom. All tucked in under the shade of beautiful old growth trees, so if you need a shady respite from the private beach you can just venture back up the yard to the deck or patio. There are also four kayaks for your enjoyment and a fire pit on the beach.

Just down the beach is the local Lake Huntington Park with its own boat ramp. It is also within walking distance to the Oaks by the Bay public park with its beautiful live oak tree canopies and bay dune/beach boardwalk, as well as, the St. Andrews city marina with boat ramps, charter boats and boat rentals. This home is located in a well established historic community with all the benefits of a neighborhood such as, nearby grocery stores, gas stations, department stores, gyms, theaters, local restaurants and shops. All within walking distance.

  • The Master Bedroom is light and airy with three windows, yet warm and romantic in its decor. It includes a king size bed, two closets, plenty of drawers space with dressers and chest of drawers, luggage rack, chaise lounge for reading or just relaxing and an incredible of view of the bay and St. Andrews Marina. Master bath with tub and shower is exclusive to master bedroom. The Children's room sports a fun decor with old toys displayed and an old school desk for a chair, yet it is modern enough to have a tv. It has two closets and a tall chest of drawers. This room also has views of the bay. It is located directly across the hall from the bathroom. The Young Romance room also has incredible views of the bay and St. Andrews Marina. It serene in its feel yet vivid in its color. There are a number of romantic art pieces in this room. It has one closet, dresser drawers & night stand. It is located directly across from the bathroom.

We offer a free arrival concierge service to initially stock your pantry so you do not have to run to the store the minute you arrive. We will acquire a list from you of the requested items and stock your pantry and/fridge for your arrival. We will collect for the cost of goods only, providing you with the store receipt upon your arrival. While we do not provide bikes, and motorized water toys, please know that there are many places in the neighborhood to rent jet skis, sailboats, pontoon boats & more. You are also welcome to bring your own and moor it off the beach. Also, this neighborhood is an incredible place to bike and walk with great water views, tree canopied streets and lots of fun places within walking & riding distance.

Beauty and serenity on the water

There's not much they haven't thought about to make someone's stay easy and relaxing. They've got amenities in the house and water toys/needs outside. The house is charming and perfect for what we needed, which was quiet time on the bay. Our family has decided we need to make this trip at least once a year and we would love to be able to stay here every time - it really was perfect!

Great location, right on the bay, with beautiful views of the water.

Great hostess's Ellen & Robbie! We had everything we needed and we were even offered concierge grocery shopping & delivery service prior to our arrival. We rented on line & with less than 48 hours notice. We were evacuating from Fort Myers, due to Hurricane Irma, with our 2 dogs, looking for a pet friendly rental, we came across Maplesden House. Robbie contacted us immediately & confirmed our reservation. The house was warm & welcoming, with "Doggie Beds" & complimentary coffee. We loved the big back yard! This house was a great refuge from the storm (even equipped with storm shutters & a generator--which thankful we did not have to use). We learned the history of St. Andrews & the history of the Maplesden family (through the photo's in the house).

Even though we were worried about losing everything we owned in Fort Myers, we were comforted by Ellen & Robbie offering us extended accommodations in case the worst were to happen. Thankfully Hurricane Irma passed Ft. Myers without causing too much damage. We were able to return home after 7 days and found our house & boat in tact and without any damage. We made 2 great friendships with Ellen & Robbie & we plan to stay in touch in the future!

Quiet private bay house in neighborhood community

Owners checked in with me a few days before and day of arrival to make sure we had everything we needed. Very helpful and nice. House is beautiful. Outside there is actually a narrow beach, which I didn't quite expect since it is bay side, and the kids (and grown ups) loved it. We ended spending a lot of time out there! Only mildly negative-ish things for us were that there were several knee-level fragile knick-knacks that could have quickly succumbed to dog tails or children's hands that I moved out of the way for the stay; and we would have liked a few more dishes but otherwise it really was perfect. Lots of towels, pillows, even some supplies like coffee and soap provided. Spending a little bit more for this house over the landlocked ones was SO worth it, and I'd do it again in a second. Well worth it and very happy!
