About Kerry Jolliffe
Born near the Australian Gold Coast I have a preference for warmer climates in my blood. I was raised in Devon after my mother returned with us to the UK in the late 1970's and then I was lucky enough to enjoy living with my husband and our children in the beautiful Devon Countryside. The idea for the move to France had been born out of one of those Friday night conversations you have about making a change to your life. After the catalyst of some dramatic life changes, we took the plunge. The Charente was a new region to me and I was very impressed by its beauty from the outset. As for the house, heart certainly ruled over head and the location and typically french feel to the house won through all my reservations. The principle house ‘Aulagnes' provided so many possibilities to generate income to support us living in France. I felt sure anyone who came to visit on holiday couldn't fail to love it here. Sun flowers, vines and historic villages and a great base to travel around visiting places with ease. The obvious building to renovate into extra holiday accommodation was a charming limestone stone detached building on our land though outside our gates with its own garden and space. It's views are wonderful. We had been experienced renovators, I could see it's potential. It is now a wonderful three bedroomed bright cottage named 'La Mirabelle' and it is now another holiday home also available for rental. In addition a beautiful barn has been prepared for the possibility of hosting events and weddings. There is also a large gravel walled court yard for 100 plus guests to dine outside or two large areas of grass with spectacular views that would provide a perfect setting for a marquee. All of our four children are doing really well and speak french and I'm not regretting the move, it has provided a fantastic quality of life for our children.

Why Kerry Jolliffe chose Bessac
'Aulagnes' is a great choice of holiday because of its convenient location and beauty. It is a very special place that encapsulates all that I imagined to be typically French. Rolling vine filled fields and yet the beautiful Atlantic coast and beaches are only about an hour away. Plenty to do and see locally with so many options. Outdoor life, sun filled days and a unique quality of life. A wonderful place for my children to grow up. A place that felt homely, safe and inspiring, a place to share and to make new memories. A place we gladly welcome holiday guests to relax and enjoy.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
Manoir Aulagnes has a historically beautiful allure resting amoungst vines, sunflowers and open countryside like a Monet painting. It is a very special destination for holiday makers especially families. With a fenced gated pool and gated gardens it's a safe environment. I have young children so I can usually provide items to assist your comfortable stay here there is so much to see and do. Very simple to get to a number of towns and big cities, it's an excellent location easy to get to from anywhere in Europe. It is also perfect as a location for weddings and events in our large oak beamed barn or outside with the vines as your back drop. A fantastic place to relax and experience an authentic French Holiday. We welcome groups of cyclists, motoring enthusiasts, expiring artists, yoga groups and anyone whom needs the respite of this elegant though informal French haven.

Like holidaying in a Chateau!
What an ideal place this was for our family to spend a week together.
Being 16 altogether, 9 adults and 7 young children, the location and space were perfect.
We had spacious rooms, comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen and as well as a large dining table inside, there was a lovely big eating / BBQ area outside where we ate most of our meals.
The grounds gave plenty of room for the children to play, plus a safely gated swimming pool, popular with us all. Another well used facility was the table tennis table in the outdoor games room. And all was set amidst vines and sunflower fields.
Kerry and her family, who live on site, were very welcoming and friendly. They also gave us many useful tips and suggestions about where to visit in the area. Aubeterre is a must!
It was a lovely week with many happy memories.
It was so wonderful to see your extended family come together in our property Aulagnes and have such fun relaxing times together. You were such a great bunch of people and your children were a delight. We’d welcome you all back with open arms. All my best wishes to your nearest and dearest.

One of the best holidays we've ever had!!
Thanks for making my fiftieth year one of the most memorable yet! Aulagnes was the perfect place for my friends and family to holiday and celebrate.
The house is beautiful and set in a stunning location. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and vineyards with wine and Cognac on tap. What’s not to like!!
The house is absolutely massive and accommodated all of us easily. All of the bedrooms are decorated beautifully and are really big. The kitchen is huge and really well equipped. So is the dining room and lounge. The main hall is magnificent. The house was immaculately kept and really clean throughout. Kerry the owner was so helpful, if there was anything we needed or just to advise on anything about the local area.
One of the things we really liked was the alfresco areas where we spent most of our time celebrating. Many an evening spent outside with the BBQ. We really liked the area down by the swimming pool which we often used for early evening drinks whilst watching the kids in the pool. The pool is safely fenced off so you don’t have to worry about the younger ones. What a great spot. The view from one side of the pool is vineyards as far as you can see.
The whole place is brilliant for kids as it’s securely fenced and gated all the way round so you don’t have to worry. There’s a trampoline, games room with pool table, table tennis, table football and huge gardens for the kids to play in. They loved it. There’s a load of games to play and if you want to settle the kids down in the evening you can put them in the huge lounge with a movie.
The house is well equipped with everything you need and more.
It’s also not very far from the local town so we had a supermarket within easy reach.
We also loved visiting the local Cognac house at Maine Giroud. Lovely people who were happy to show us how they made their Cognac. The Cognac is stunning and we stocked up on a few gallons of their wine too!! We also visited Aubeterre Sur Dronne which was only 25 minutes away. It’s an absolute must. I would say it’s one of the most beautiful towns in France. There are some great restaurants there as well.
We also had a lot of great days out as there’s so much to do in the area.
I can’t recommend this place enough. We all had an amazing holiday and we definitely will be coming back again.
