Nuestras amplias cabañas disfrutan de una ubicación privilegiada en la soleada costa oeste de la isla. Cada cabaña tiene su propia terraza privada y terraza de barbacoa. ¡Las vistas panorámicas son espectaculares! Todas las ventanas y puertas de vidrio tienen doble acristalamiento con la comodidad en mente. Hay una impresionante área de piscina ajardinada en el jardín compartido completamente cerrado. No se puede encontrar un lugar mejor para esos días en que hacer muy poco, pero relajarse y tomar el sol es lo que busca. Si necesita registrarse en el mundo real, puede hacerlo desplazándose por cualquiera de los canales de noticias incluidos en el menú del programa de TV o conectándose a nuestras instalaciones de Internet de banda ancha inalámbrica. A poca distancia hay un pequeño supermercado, cafetería, farmacia y centro de salud. Y si lo que disfruta es caminar, ¡esta área ofrece algunas de las mejores lavadas caminando en Madeira!
¡La cabaña de lavanda es la más grande de nuestras dos cabañas de nueva construcción y es perfecta para sus vacaciones en la isla! La sala de estar con su techo abovedado consta de una cocina abierta bien equipada y cómoda zona de comedor. Hay un flujo maravilloso entre esto y la sala de estar con frente de vidrio y muebles cómodos que se abre a una terraza privada; Ideal para cenar al aire libre. Y para esos días o noches frías ocasionales hay una acogedora chimenea de leña en el centro de la sala de estar. Las habitaciones son extremadamente espaciosas y bien equipadas y están equipadas con ventiladores para esas noches todavía bochornosas. Las puertas corredizas de vidrio que conducen al jardín se pueden cerrar de la manera tradicional para mayor privacidad o para esas siestas sensatas de la tarde. Hay una impresionante área de piscina ajardinada en el jardín completamente cerrado. No se puede encontrar un lugar mejor para esos días en que hacer muy poco, pero relajarse y tomar el sol es lo que busca.

Vacation at its best

We had the good fortune to find this excellent holiday location on the internet. During our stay we enjoyed the wonderful hospitality of Heather and her parents for two weeks. The cottage is fully equipped and situated in nice, quiet surroundings; but a car is a must. Beautiful view over the Atlantic! Warm and sunny even in November. Good restaurants and supermarket in downtown Calheta. Internet connection a big plus. The website gives an accurate description of facilities etc. Warmly recommended! Barbara and Jens Finland

maderia in december

this was our first time in Maderia and despite the adverse weather on a few days, it did not detract from our stay. The cottage was of a very high standard in all areas; cleanliness, facilities, self catering equipment and the personal attention to detail. Customer service/relations were excellent before and during our stay. The only thing we would say needs a review by the owners is the bed base and mattress which we found to be hard and not very comfortable. We cannot comment on the local eating places as we did not eat out, just personal preference. Maderia seems to be a walkers paradise and drivers need nerves of steel. In conclusion, we would recommend this property and the two bedroom cottage and we would go back.

Wunderschöner Garten mit toller Aussicht

Heather ist eine sehr nette Vermieterin. Eine schöne, große Wohnung mit allem was man braucht. Der Wintergarten ist super schön und man hat beim Frühstück schon Meerblick. Überhaupt der ganze Garten ist toll und ein schön angelegter Pool. Die Lage ist sehr ruhig. Man benötigt aber ein Auto. Wir würden wiederkommen.

Wunderschöner Familienurlaub

Eine schöne Ferienwohnung, mit einer liebevollen und sehr hilfsbereiten Vermieterin. Gleich zu Beginn wurden wir herzlichst begrüßt und haben sogar ein Willkommenspräsent erhalten. Auch bei der Gestaltung und Planung unserer Ausflüge war Heather eine große Hilfe, sei es mit nützlichen Tipps, Kommunikation mit einheimischen Veranstaltern (Bsp. Whale Watching) oder Hinweisen zu lokalen Gegebenheiten. Die Unterkunft an sich war nicht nur schön geräumig, sondern auch sehr gut ausgestattet (wir haben absolut nicht vermisst). Ein weiterer Pluspunkt ist die fantastische Aussicht. Für Wasserratten gibt es sogar einen tollen Poolbereich, der von uns jedoch nicht so intensiv genutzt wurde, da der Atlantik auch eine angenehme Wärme hatte. Madeira hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen und dann im Lavender Cottage einkehren.

Wir verbrachten hier mit vier Erwachsenen zehn wundervolle Tage. Alle war super unterhalten, der Empfang, die vorherige Wegbeschreibung und die Einweisung der Vermieterin war tadellos. Die Lage der Unterkunft war genauso schön wie ihre Ausstattung. Wir hatten jeden Tag selbst gekocht und auch dafür war wirklich alles da. Besonders schön ist der Wintergarten mit den Schiebetüren, hier haben wir immer gesessen und die herrliche Aussicht genossen. Alles in allem muss man sagen, haben wir uns sehr sehr wohl gefühlt und können Banda do Sol Cottages nur wärmstens weiterempfehlen.

Lavender Cottage

We had the most fabulous stay at this beautiful cottage. The accommodation is absolutely lovely - comfortable, clean and of extremely good quality. The owner and her family were most welcoming and so very helpful. It is situated in a very peaceful spot - high up with spectacular views and gorgeous gardens. We would not hesitate to recommend this cottage and we are looking forward to a return visit next year!

Rosemary Cottage

We stayed in Rosemary cottage for 3 weeks in March. It was our first visit to the beautiful island if Madeira. We walked through the most superb scenery which ranged from levadas and coastal walks to mountain peaks and ridges. The waterfalls and the forests and laurisilva were superb. We have booked already to visit next year as we found our accommodation location such a good base. We really enjoyed Rosemary cottage and very much appreciated the welcome and practical help from Ken, Faye and Heather. The view from the cottage is superb, the cottage is well equipped and very comfortable.

A Small Paradise!

Heather, Faye and Ken have created a small paradise at the bottom left hand corner of Madeira! Easily accessible from the airport through the fantastic network of tunnels, Banda do Sol provides a perfect 'getaway' from the stresses and strains of modern life. Sit and have breakfast on the lovely terrace, overlooking the swimming pool and garden, and beyond that the endless sea, with only the rushing noise of the levada to disturb you. Later, drive a few miles up the road and then walk through the gorgeous woodlands, alongside another levada, on the level all the way. Stop in the next village for refreshment, and wander back at your own pace! Later go down to the seaside and relax in a fabulous little bar, until it's time to choose between many different restaurants for an evening meal. Or of course you could bar-b-que back at Banda do Sol, or cook in the superb kitchen. There is everything you could possibly need for a fantastic (non-beach) holiday on Madeira, when staying at Banda do Sol. Hire a car and drive all round the island. It doesn't take long today on the superb new roads, but make sure you take time to go along some of the old highways and byways - it's well worth the effort. If you get the chance to stay at Banda do Sol - grab it with both hands and look forward to a fantastic holiday in the sun. We will be back!

Perfect place for couples and families

Rosemary Cottage is perfect place for couples, who love first-class villa, peaceful environment and spectaculous view. Estreito da Calheta and Banda Do Sol is excellent place for exploring Madeira Island. We spent all days travelling around the island by car. It was so nice to come back to relax in our Cottage. There were all we needed; spacy carage, fully equipped kitchen, beautiful living room, good beds in sleeping room and terrace to enjoy beautiful scenery. Unfortunately water in swimming pool was a bit too cold even for Finns but summertime it undoubtedly is perfect. Heather, Faye and Ken, thank you: We came as strangers but left as friends. Lavender Cottage

Lavender Cottage was our first experience of Madeira and, of course, you always worry if it will be as good as it sounds. This was far better. A beautiful cottage in a quiet, peaceful location which is ideal for "getting away from it all" The cottage provided everything we needed for our ten day stay, it was spotless and extremely well equipped. It has two very good sized bedrooms, one "en suite", and a large lounge/kitchen diner. There is also a good sized patio area for "al fresco" dining, a pretty garden and a small pool. Excellent laundry facilities are also provided. The owners, Heather and her mother and father could not have been more helpful, even taking our wives shopping on our day of arrival, whilst my brother-in-law and I found the nearby bar. Candles were also provided promptly during a lengthy power cut !! The property is within easy reach, by car, of Calheta, which has a good selection of restaurants, and within a ten minute (max) easy stroll is a mini market and bar. The mini market provides most items required, although major shopping for food etc is best done in Calheta. The bar is extremely friendly and serves a daily lunch which, although basic, is very good. It also serves a wide variety of drinks, and the owner speaks exceptionally good English. We visited in January when the weather is a bit unpredictable, but the island is undoubtedly beautiful and everyone is very very friendly. Car hire is probably a good idea, but we used a local taxi (details provided by Heather), and he was punctual, great at finding places to visit and reasonably priced. I would thoroughly recommend Madeira and especially Lavender Cottage, for anyone looking for a relaxing break.

Absolutely Perfect!

Our first time in Madeira, and what a perfect choice of accommodation! Lavender Cottage is extremely comfortable - the lounge and kitchen are tastefully laid out and decorated, and superbly equipped. Bedrooms too are ideal - roomy and light, with very comfortable beds and modern bathroom facilities. The outside patio area is ideal for eating al fresco, with a barbecue all ready for use! The views over the ocean from here are terrific. The weather turned a tad chilly in the evenings, but thereis a very efficient wood burner with plenty fuel, making the villa cosy and warm. We can't say enough about our hosts - Heather and her parents made us feel very welcome, and were helpful in every way - making sure we had everything we wanted, and providing useful information about the isalnd and surrounding attractions - but without being intrusive. A car is not essential - Heather has contacts with a local taxi firm who are very reasonable - but it helped to have one to visit local sights and to venture into Calheta. We didn't eat out in Calheta but there are 2 bars in Jardim do Mar worthy of a visit - one right on the sea's edge by the new car park, and Joe's in the centre of the town. All in all, we can honestly say Lavender cottage is definitely on our favourites list!

Awesome holiday memories

Beautiful cottage, beautiful setting, beautiful island and a wonderful warm welcome. We have very fond memories of our stay in Rosemary cottage and feel privileged to have become friends with the MacLachlan's. They couldn't have done more for us which enabled us to tour the island at our leisure and enjoy every corner of the delightful countryside. We have already recommended the holiday and accommodation to all our friends and family, we were so delighted. We had a thoroughly relaxing time but with some fun highlights eg. the basket ride down the hill! Heather also organised for a massage session to be given in our cottage....wonderful for my bad back. A great time had by all. Thanks

Holiday at Lavender Cottage

What a lovely place to stay,athough January was very wet ,the cottage was warm and cosy with a log burner and plenty of logs avaliable.Heather and her family were great hosts,Celebrated my 65 birithday while we were there ,a card and a bottle of Champagne were in the cottage for me which was a kind gesture as was the welcome pack.The cottage was very well equipped and spotlessly clean with everthing you needed. towels and linen were all colour co-ordinated We spend 2 weeks every year in Madeira .this year we will be revisiting Heather and her family in June when we hope the weather will be warmer and drier to be able to take advantage of the swimming pool,anyone thinking of a self catering holiday in Madeira we highly recommend this exceptonal cottage.Barrie and jenny Webster (Somerset UK )

The best holiday house for family

We stayed in Lavender cottage for a week in March 2011 and we enjoyed the hospitality of Heather's parents who were very nice and helpful people. Fresh flowers and a gift for guests is not very common welcome and it was a nice surprise. I chose the place by the pictures from the internet and it was even better than I expected. The house was very clean and comfortable, kitchen well equipped, we had enough space for 5 persons. The best of all was the view to the Atlantic from all the windows. Children enjoyed running around by the pool area. The location is very good for people who plan to enjoy the wonderful nature of Madeira - there are several interesting levadas which you can find after 0,5 or 1 hour driving. In Calheta there is a good supermarket if you plan to cook for yourself. We also took dolphin watching trip from Calheta marina and we watched dolphins hunting sardines, which was unforgettable experience for our 7-years old boy. I would certainly recommend this place to all my friends!

Wonderful accommodation

We stayed at Banda do Sol in April 2011. The accommodation was among the best self-catering we have ever stayed at. The owner has put a great deal of effort and thought in to creating a five star home from home. The pool was great for our kids and the south-facing setting overlooking the sea was truly beautiful. Calheta, with a small sandy beach (the only one in Madeira) is about 5 mins by car and there is an excellent levada walk at Prazeres, again about 5 mins by car uphill. Madeira is a fantastic island to explore and this western area has good access to Funchal (45 mins) and to the north of the island via the much improved road network since we were last there in 2003. We certainly hope to return and I'd have no hesitation recommending this excellent property to anyone- it is a real gem!

5* RATING for this fabulous little cottage!

My mother & I enjoyed a fantastic 10 days away in this beautiful little cottage!! The panoramic views of the sea are to die for and the pool a great addition on a sunny afternoon. The cottage is in a great location, particularly if you want to get away from the busy hubbub of Funchal (although still within travelling distance). Calheta beach is also just a stone’s throw away where you will also find local amenities & shops. For the more adventurous, I would recommend you hire a car and visit at least some of the below highlights of Maderia:- Porto Moniz – Natural bathing pools to the northern point of the Island (1 Euro for the whole day - a must see for all!!) St Vincent – quite rural town with pretty white houses & great restaurants. Volcanic caves for the kids. Sexial (near St Vincent) - has the most beautiful secluded beaches (black sand) & natural pools if you fancy a romantic dip Monte – the Palace gardens are fabulous & be sure to take a ride on the traditional wooden toboggans or catch a bus back to Funchal Rabacal – 25 Fontes & Risco Waterfall – walk along this glorious levada and witness the 25 fountain lagoon & waterfall. For more excitement take a torch and trek through the ½ mile long tunnel leading from Calheta to Rabacal (easy walking, great experience!!) Jardin Du Mar – visit Joe’s bar for local cuisine & a great atmosphere. The coast here is also incredible, especially at sunset! 5* RATING for this fabulous little cottage. Heather & Ken were the most welcoming hosts I have ever met!! I hope you enjoy it, we will definately be coming back!!

Lavender Cottage

A stunning, spacious, brand new, well designed and equipped cottage. Everything is just as described and spotlessly clean, although the photos just cannot do it justice. Situated quite a long way up a very steep hill, there are wonderful views around and out to sea. There is an inticing pool, comfortable sitting area by the pool and gardens which are already becoming well established. There is a large, remote controlled garage on site and everything feels exceptionally safe and secure. The unexpected welcome pack was a lovely thoughtful touch. Situated in a residential, area with well spread out properties, there is a small shop/snack bar a short level walk away and several restaurants within easy driving distance. Good access to some lovely, reasonably easy Levada walks are also a short drive away. Not the place for you if you want noisy entertainment on the door step - and we certainly didn't. Heather and her family, who have a house on the same site, were the most excellent, welcoming, friendly and helpful hosts. There is another villa on the same site which would be ideal for families or small groups. Overall, this is an exceptional villa which represents excellent value for money and we recommend it most highly.
