Great mix of classic and modern in a perfect location.
We really enjoyed our stay. The home is classic and charming on the outside with all the modern amenities inside. The kitchen is spacious and modern, with all the things you’ll need away from home. Location is great with restaurants and a convenience store just a short walk away, and its not far down to the river.
Hosts were super, and had coffee and fruit waiting, which was really appreciated since it saved us a run to the store on our first morning. There were plenty of towels and washcloths and extra bedding as well.
It’s more spacious than it looks in the photos, and we really enjoyed having two different living areas in the house. Great value for the sqft, we’d gladly stay here again in the future.
Older house with updated amenities in great condition.
This house exceeded my expectations. It was a great gathering place for our family. Excellent kitchen and the living room with fireplace was very comfortable. The older style building and rooms add to the charm. We would stay here again.
Very nice, clean and comfortable!
Location is good & the house is clean and updated. We walked daily to downtown Golden! Very nice visit & I would rent it again
Golden is a beautiful town.
We really enjoyed spending our 47th wedding anniversary in Golden. The house is close to downtown and close enough to go to Idaho Springs, Red Rock, Morrison, and other points of interest. The house was so comfortable, loved the fireplace, so cozy, while watching the snow fall. When in the area, will definitely stay here again. Thank you John for a great vacation rental.
Lovely home near the beautiful downtown Golden
This was our third visit to Colorado. We have always stayed in Evergreen, but chose to try Golden to be closer to my son, who lives in Denver and to try some new trails. This was a lovely house within walking distance of the downtown area. Upon our arrival we were welcomed with a homey fire warming the family room. The home is much bigger inside than it looks from the outside. We had everything we needed. We ate some of our meals there, after picking up some groceries at a near by Safeway. And we enjoyed several of the downtown restaurants as well. We especially loved Woody's Pizza and Miner's Alley. The trail along Clear Creek was also right down town and was a pleasant and easy walk before or after dinner when we weren't up for a challenging hike. But we did enjoy several hikes that were quite challenging. Our favorites were the trails at the Apex Park. The weather was not the best while we were there but we found windows of time each day to hike, as well as to do some shopping and visiting with our son. The only minor problem was with the internet. But we contacted the owner and it was taken care of that day. All of our issues, which are too minor to mention, were responded to very quickly. We will definitely return to Golden!
Fun five night stay in Golden!
The pluses: We really liked the location of the house as it was super close to downtown (15 min walk, only a few minutes to drive) and the SPACIOUS layout suited our needs perfectly (three adults and a toddler)! The additional front room worked great for our 16-mo old's pack n play for sleeping. The remodeled kitchen was awesome- fully equipped although it would have been nice to have some good dish towels (throw away the current towels, they don't dry anything!). Bedding and towels were clean and fresh and plentiful in supply...
Now for the reason I did three stars and not four...although overall the house was clean enough, it wasn't as clean/tidy as it should've been: dust, old food/sticky grossness stuck to random chairs, belongings from someone left under the bed that hadn't been removed, shower curtain could've used a wash and the bathroom could have been cleaner, and when I opened my closet there were hangers tossed in on the ground and some loose odds and ends laying around (a broken handle from a blind on the ground for example) like someone just wanted to hide the mess behind the closed closet doors. The outside trash cans were both full and practically overflowing when we arrived at the rental and they remained there full during our entire stay. The house seemed heavily rented in the sense that things were broken or breaking and needed some TLC (windows and fixtures, random things around the house that were in a state of disrepair).
The downstairs rental was a little weird (there was a for rent sign out front and someone randomly showed up and knocked on our door to ask about it- we thought it was the sushi delivery guy!). The deck was really rickety and a definite no-no for a toddler! And the backyard space was neglected and not comfortable at all for even standing. Luckily we spent a lot of time out and about so we didn't need the outside space but I would not recommend for people with kids if you want to play outside. The main street is really busy so expect a lot of noise and activity pretty much all day/night. The owner was really hard to get in touch with but once responsive was fine to work with. And the beds were really uncomfortable.
With all that said, I'd still recommend to people travelling through Golden. There was a lot we liked about the house and although it's probably not somewhere we'd stay again, I think other people might still enjoy it.
Walkable to Downtown Golden and Historic Districts.
