About the property

5 Bedroom, 3 Bathroom Family Retreat With Mountain Views And No "I'm Bored"

This Rocky Mountain Retreat sits at the end of a spruce and pine lined lane overlooking the Arapahoe National Forest. It's a perfect getaway that's close to everything. We are five minutes from the YMCA of the Rockies (ziplining, tubing, hiking), Devil's Thumb Ranch and Spa, and Pole Creek golf course. Skiing, mountain biking, horseback riding, and fishing are also nearby. And high speed internet is provided for those times that you need to check in with the outside world.

Our home features 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, two living areas which are great for big groups, and a loft. Two bedrooms on the first floor with a shared bathroom work great for the kids with one queen bed and 4 bunk beds and a daybed with a trundle. The first floor rec room has darts, games, and a flatscreen TV to keep everyone entertained. The main floor offers two bedrooms, one with a queen and one with a full-sized bed and a shared bathroom. The main floor family room has a satellite TV, hardwood floors with warm area rugs, and a cozy stone fireplace (new for 2016) next to floor to ceiling windows with incredible views of the Rockies. A staircase leads upstairs to an overlooking loft with a couch and another TV for watching movies. Off the loft is the spacious master suite with a private whirlpool tub and shower. The second loft in the master bedroom has an extra double mattress for bigger groups.

The well-stocked kitchen has been renovated for summer 2016 and has all of the amenities for a simple morning breakfast or a full Thanksgiving dinner. Granite countertops, tile floor, and an ample island for any gathering (new for 2016). The new outdoor grill is perfect for year-round barbeque-ing. For meals, there is room for everyone at the long dining room table, the tables on the back deck, and at the kitchen island bar.

Last but not least, a wrap-around deck offers peaceful solitude and fresh air, and the hot tub down the steps has great sunset views.

About Jeff Leget

Our families have called Colorado home for over 15 years. Ten years ago, when our kids were preschoolers, we started taking weekend trips together to Winter Park and Fraser in the hopes that the little ones would eventually like to ski. Today, ten years later, we can't keep up with our kids on the steep and deep terrain Winter Park has to offer. And, we simply can't imagine any better place for a family vacation that right here at the base of the Rocky Mountains. We hope your family enjoys your time together in our home as much as we have enjoyed watching our kids grow up here.

Jeff Leget purchased this house in 2015

Why Jeff Leget chose Tabernash

We looked a long time before finally deciding to purchase and rent this beautiful home. Some places in Winter Park and Fraser are townhomes. Although new and nice, they don't offer the quiet tranquility that typically brings people to the Rockies. Some places in Fraser are large mountain mansions that come at a premium. With kids, we always found that we'd rather have the money to spend on activities. Our home, with 5 bedrooms, is perfectly situated in a quiet community above Tabernash. Just 15 minutes from Winter Park, 5 minutes from Devil's Thumb ranch, and 35 minutes to Lake Granby, we think you'll agree that our Family Rocky Mountain Retreat is perfectly situated for all the activities your family will want to do in the mountains this year. Lots of restaurants and bars are close by, the grocery store is 5 minutes away, and yet when you are sitting on the deck looking at the stars, you'll feel like you are the only one around.

What makes this house unique

When we first bought the home we loved the rustic woodwork and wrap-around deck. The kids love running around outside, hanging out on the first floor, or splashing in the outdoor hot tub. We hope that our home with its incredible views and proximity to everything will inspire your own family adventures.

Amazing HOUSE!!

  • 5 of 5

There were 10 of us that stayed in this house. It is a 3 level house and it was more than enough room. The kids, slept in different places nightly just because there were soo many rooms. The owners of the house were very friendly, easy to get a hold of and they helped every step of the way. The kitchen is to die for, forget an Island, it has a peninsula for the counter top. We did not want to leave the house..but we did. We went skiing at Grandby Ranch and had a blast! We are from Texas and not used to cold weather, so we OVER packed warm gear. The house was extremely warm, it has GREAT insulation, we found ourselves very hot at times. The kids enjoyed using the sleds and sliding down the hills, I must say, so did I. Our one regret was that we were not successful in making a snowman, due to the snow being soft and we didn't know how to form it. IF you are looking for a spacious house, this is definitely the place for you. There is literally a place to sleep in every crook of the house, a lot of space and privacy. The house is fully stocked in kitchen utensils, appliance and even towels. I could literally go on and on and on. I have used homeaway for A LOT of vacations, but I must say this is the BEST house thus far and they had the most outstanding customer service!!

This was a great Christmas vacation!!

Perfect Multi-Family Rental in a Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

We were amazed how close this rental was to Rocky Mountain National Park and Grand Lake. We had three families in our party and fit comfortably. The cabin was clean, well kept, and had almost everything we needed. The only concern we had was the kitchenware. It seemed like the cabin was missing some every day items in the kitchen (including grilling tools), but we made do with what we had. We loved grilling out on the deck, watching late night movies, and all the kids loved the bunk rooms. The owner was great to communicate with and allowed us to have a late check out with no problem. Overall, it was a perfect place with comfortable beds, and enough space to go around! We'd stay here again and again!

Owner's Response: Thank-you so much for staying with us! We'll check our supply of kitchen utensils to make sure we have plenty. The grill tools were in the pantry. We'll work to make that more obvious to our next guests. Thanks again!

Wonderful home to stay for the weekend.

  • 4 of 5

We were in town to attend our nephew's wedding at Devil's Thumb Ranch. Location of the cabin was great. Very easy to find. We did not have to drive very far to get to great hiking areas, (Grand Lakes for a morning hike), and close to grocery store and restaurants. The home was large and enough bedrooms to accommodate our party (4 adult couples and a single adult) with enough bathrooms for everyone to get ready and attend the wedding on time. The view was awesome. Jeff, the owner, was very accommodating and informative and responded very quickly to any questions/requests we had before and during our stay. Our only regret was that we did not plan to stay longer and enjoy the cabin.

The property was clean and spacious, exactly as described online. It had ample room for all of our sixteen guests, as well as plenty of utensils, plates, pots and pans, etc. The grounds themselves were well maintained, and though parking was a squeeze, it was never a big issue. Excellent time, would HIGHLY RECOMMEND anyone to stay there as well.

Marvelous Mountain Home

  • 5 of 5

We had our annual teachers' retreat at this beautiful home and found it to be perfect for all we wanted. There were ten of us who stayed in the house, and we had plenty of room. Several people commented that they very much enjoyed the various living spaces so that everyone could find a spot in which to relax when we were not learning together in sessions. The kitchen is very well furnished with cooking utensils, dishes, and flatware, and the appliances all worked great. The living room and dining room spaces were great for our group, and we also enjoyed the fall weather out on the deck space. The individual bedrooms are really quiet--no snoring heard in the next room! Several people commented that the beds were really comfortable, and no one reported any uncomfortable mattresses. The three full bathrooms were great for our group. We did not use the hot tub, but it is conveniently located just outside the basement level of the house. Upon leaving, the majority of the group all said they would be glad to stay here again. Thanks for providing us the chance to use this very comfortable house.

Clean and a great location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a small group of 9 people and there was PLENTY of space. The house allowed for privacy for each of the couples but it also has great common areas for us to come together. The living room/dining room is where we spent the most time. The fire pit was our second favorite place. We were able to pick up a few groceries from the Safeway just up the road. The YMCA is close with a ton of activities and we spent a day at Rocky Mountain National Park. Perfect location! The house was clean, comfortable and no creepy crawlers (that's always my biggest concern). :) We would recommend it and will stay again in the future. BTW... There was a good amount of food left by previous renters so we dos the same in return. There's plenty of spices and the kitchen has all you need for your cooking needs. You can't go wrong with this place!

Our families have called Tabernash and the Fraser Valley our vacation destination for over 10 years, and we're happy to share that experience with you. Our children have learned to ski, bike, hike, and ride horses in the Colorado Rockies. We simply can't imagine a better family destination. Our mountain home is strategically located among the quiet Aspens and rugged pine trees of the Arapahoe National Forest. Just minutes away is the renowned Winter Park Ski Resort, the longest continuously running ski area in Colorado, offering 7 unique territories to satisfy any skier's abilities. In the summer the resort comes alive with mountain bike trails, an alpine slides, and tons of activities for the whole family. Summertime also brings warms days and cool nights with few bugs and no humidity. Perfect weather for hiking, biking, climbing, or just soaking in the mountains. Ever seen how far your ball can fly off the tee at 8300 feet above sea level? Pole Creek Golf Course is just across the highway. Kids and adults will both love the YMCA of the Rockies Snow Mountain Ranch just 5 minutes from our door with activities for everyone. And Christmastime in the rugged Rocky Mountains by a warm fire with floor to ceiling windows just can't be beat.

Winter Park, Fraser, and Tabernash offer fine dining from sushi to bbq and everything in-between. After a long day of outdoor adventure, the Devil's Thumb Ranch offers outstanding spa services. Just to the north is Lake Granby and the western entrance to the majestic Rocky Mountain National Park. Since 1915, Rocky Mountain National Park has enticed visitors with herd of Elk and over 359 miles of trails among it majestic peaks. On your way to the park, stop at Lake Granby for boating and fly fishing. Or, just take a break with the kids and visit the Grand County rec center or catch a movie at the Foundry Cinema and Bowling Alley. Without a doubt, you and your kids won't be bored.

We've stocked our home with all of the things you and your crew will need. We have plenty of clean sheets and towels for all the guests. There are lots of bunk beds for a big family get together. While the kids play downstairs, the adults can enjoy the spectacular views out the floor to ceiling windows in the rustic family room. Or, the whole group can take turns relaxing on the deck on in the hot tub. If you run out of options in town, or simply want to enjoy a dinner at home, the kitchen comes stocked with everything you need to make a simple breakfast or a full-course dinner for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any special occasion. Watch the stars slowly circle the mountains and enjoy a drink on the wrap-around deck or by the fireplace indoors. Or, you can escape to the loft with a book in the dormer.

We believe our home is perfectly situated between the Winter Park / Mary Jane resort and the family-friendly Granby Ranch and Sol Vista resorts. You are at the center of all that Grand County has to offer. We hope you enjoy our home and the mountains as much as we do.
