About Jessica

Spring Canyon Properties began restoring, designing, and building custom cabins in 1991. Our first cabin project was the restoration of our listing #492880, which was originally built in 1927. Our cabins offer guests a one-of-a-kind experience with our attention to detail, design, and decor - not to mention the beauty of the natural surroundings of Spring Creek Canyon. Each cabin is nestled on it's own parcel of land to offer privacy to each guest.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Jess,

I tried to submit the review listed below but for some reason it won't take it on the home away app . You're welcome to post this if you choose to.

"It was everything you could want. Beautiful yet rustic. So peaceful when you would come home and soak in the hot tub or sit on the deck by the firepit. The wild life that would come through your the yard was amazing. We had such a great time going to all the different places in South Dakota and part of Wyoming me. We truly loved it."

What a great place!

  • 5 of 5

If you want to see wildlife everyday stay here. The cabin is beautiful and so comfortable and clean. The only slight downside was the double beds vs. queens which caused us to sleep apart. Maybe that was not so bad as I think I actually slept better! Nicely equipped kitchen, good wifi and tv for those evenings when you are not outside enjoying the fire table/pit or the hot tub. I think the highlight was being in the hot tub watching shooting stars but seeing so many deer everyday at almost any time that they became routine is pretty great as well. The big surprise was the big horn sheep that came down the hill late one morning. About six females and three males. Quite the sight.

Very convenient location that is a surprise after driving through the suburb of Rapid City. You would not know that you are that close to population. We grilled burgers one night on the nice gas grill and had a great dinner at Powder House Lodge another. You have to try Powder House for Elk and Bison. Ask for Meghan for your server.

We have visited the Black Hills area numerous times over the years but never stayed for long. The area is fantastic. We had been to Yellowstone and Teton the week before and found the “Hills” to offer as many wonderful sights and places to visit and we saw far more wildlife right at the cabin and in Custer SP than we did in either of the National Parks. We would recommend this as a great base for your Black Hills adventures.

It was hard to leave the cabin but we have to get back to making money so we can return!

Relaxing base camp to explore the area

  • 4 of 5

This rustic-feeling cabin is beautifully crafted and served our crew well. We had a good mix of wilderness and windshield time that included visits to the Badlands, Custer, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, 1880 train and Wind Cave during our stay. Sunrise hikes were a breeze with close proximity to the Centennial trail. The cabin was a relaxing place to recharge and prepare for the next day's adventure. Jessica was an attentive and helpful host. We look forward to returning!

Loved it! A little difficult to find in the dark. But we managed.

Loved the wild turkey and the deer. So fun to see roaming around.

Centrally located seclusion

  • 5 of 5

This perfect well-decorated property couldn't have offered anything more! We were within 2 hours drive (most of them closer) of every National Park/Monument or historic site we wanted to visit during our week vacation in the Black Hills. After full days of travel/hiking/activity, this cabin was a wonderful retreat for cooking our own dinner, relaxing in the hot tub and/or finding your own little corner to unwind in. More than I would normally expect for amenities in a rental cabin. Very unique, cozy but spacious accommodations. Well thought out. Property manager was extremely helpful, friendly and readily available for any questions. Family of 4 with 2 teenagers. We would all stay again and recommend for anyone planning a trip to the Rapid City area.

Great location and accommodations.

We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin is quiet yet convienantly located near Custer state park, the badlands, Mt Rushmore and dining in downtown Rapid City. The turkeys in the front yard every morning are huge and fun to watch.
