Quiet, wonderful wildlife in garden and windowsill. all aspects very well provided for, books, good TV, well appointed kitchen and comfy warm clean bed. The house was reasonably warm considering we were there in December. We loved our stay and will come back sometime without doubt.
This is a slightly older style modern house and is all electric. I am expecting that the electricity cost will be substantial.
Recommended if you love red squirrels, jays and lots of other birds,
Thanks Richard for another positive 5 star review
Due to the cottage being in a remote secluded area their is no option other than electricity for cooking and heating. The price one pays for the unique situation!
I look forward to welcoming you back soon
Our stay was absolutely perfect.
Nice surroundings, beautiful environment.
Had small issue with a key, this was solved by the owner in seconds.
Not our last stay for sure
Thanks for positive review
So glad you enjoyed the special place that is Porch House
Look forward to welcoming you back again soon
An excellent location for wildlife watching with Red Squirrels in the garden daily, up to 5 individuals and several bird species; including Jays, Coal Tits, Siskins and a Sparrowhawk. Very quiet and pretty surrounded by Pines and Larch trees.
Well situated for exploring the local area with Aviemore and Cairngorm only about 20 - 30 mins drive away.
The house itself was comfortable and once the storage heaters got going was nicely warm; the shower was adequate but the temperature went up and down which wasn't ideal.
The kitchen was well stocked, the only downside being very old and worn frying pans which need replacing.
In summary, the location for us was the selling point, being on the edge of some woodland and with a lovely wild garden with unkempt grass etc. something i adore.
So glad you enjoyed the unique surroundings of Porch House, it is indeed a very special place. The red squirrels can keep you captivated for hours!
Your house keeping issues have been noted and passed on for action
I look forward to welcoming you back in the future
Fantastic holiday home
Absolutely loved this house. Charming house, well equipped, location was exactly what we were looking for. kind of in the middle of nowhere but only a short drive from Kingussie where the Co Op met all our shopping needs, we cooked and ate at the house for the most part. Walks from right outside the house in every direction. Our favorite was accessed at the bridge onto the RSPB marshes right beside a roaring piece of river...beautiful!
So glad you enjoyed Porch House. It is really a very special place and you obviously appreciated its unique setting, peace and quiet but not too isolated.
I look forward to welcoming you back again soon
Holiday at Porch House
The property was very comfortable and well located. The instructions to find it were not very clear. It took us some time to find it. The bridge wasn't named, even on Google maps, and the distillery sign was not obvious. The road to the property was very uneven, we had to drive very slowly to avoid the ruts and stones and were quite worried about the car grounding on it.
However, we thoroughly enjoyed the location, with walks in several directions and the fact that birds, squirrels etc were easy to see from the large windows.. The RSPB hides were numerous and well used.
The cottage was very spacious and was very well equipped.
There were several local shops for food etc. and it was well located for several attractions.
Just one thing we have never come across before and have stayed in several cottages over the years, was the fact that we were charged a £200 deposit to cover electricity use and breakages. This has always been included in the price, which was not cheap! In fact, several cottages we have stayed in have had welcome packs, one including a bottle of wine and chocolates, another a large bunch of flowers.
Quiet and comfortable house
Liked the secluded and quiet location and seeing the birds around the feeders every morning. Ideal location for walks and getting the train to different locations. The house was a little cold when we arrived and took a while to get warm but apart from that no complaints. Beds were comfortable too and the kitchen was well equipped. Would stay there again.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a positive review..its much appreciated
Apologies that you found the cottage chilly on arrival, the storage heaters warm up over night and may have been set low by previous guests. I am glad it did not stop you enjoying your time at Porch House
I hope to welcome you back again soon
