What trip?
No matter your age, and the age of your guests, things do happen and you should purchase the insurance offered. We had a family emergency on our drive from Pennsylvania to Maine and had to leave for Tennessee mid-route. I contacted the owner immediately and explained what happened.(I feel that I need to explain that our trip to Maine was for a Memorial Service for my mother, not a vacation).
After contacting the owner, whom I had a great relationship with to this point, I was told to contact VRBO.
VRBO was very sympathetic and understanding. They in turn told me that it was up to the OWNER if I could cancel the reservation and to please stay on the phone while they called... ??? "I just talked to the owner!"
He gets back on the phone telling me that the owner said that I could not cancel and no funds would be reimbursed. I hope that people reading this can see my frustration at this point. It was the game between the two that was upsetting, not the actual answer. So, who am I upset with up to now? Me not getting insurance or my first and last loss with VRBO that cost thousands for a one week stay.
Sadly, both could have handled this in a more professional manner.
Never trust kindness, always watch your back & always remember people choose money over anything else.
