Welcome to Coveside Cottage, a little bit of paradise on the Maine coast. Offering incredible views of Bar Harbor, Mt. Desert Island and several other islands, Coveside Cottage is the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of the real world.

Wake to the sound of loons, lobster boats, bell buoys, and the gentle lapping of waves. Play some croquet on the spacious front lawn, relax on the front porch, or around the firepit at the water's edge.

History abounds on Ferry Rd. in Hancock - it was once a bustling hub for people going to and from Bar Harbor, with a railroad, a grand hotel, and ferry service to Bar Harbor.

Perfect spot, clean cabin

  • 5 of 5

We just loved our stay in this Hancock cabin! Very clean and exactly as she described. The owner is super responsive and everything was perfect. 180-degree view. Just know it has no AC, the beds are not super comfy, and it's a bit on the small side -- a real cottage experience. But that is all well explained and the price is reflective. There is even a little kids' house with bunk beds that our boys loved playing in. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans (even stuff for lobsters) and even some basic things like tea and seasonings. It is about a 30-minute ride to Bar Harbor. Thank you, Sue, for a wonderful visit! Highly recommend. (The only thing we were wishing it had were a couple kayaks to play around in. :))

Owner's Response: Thank you Sue! Glad you had a good time. Sorry to hear about the beds though. The double mattress and box spring are brand new. And the twin is only a year old. :-( Hope to see you back again in the future. And thanks for leaving it so clean!

This cottage is in an amazing location on the Maine coast. We loved sitting and watching the water at sunrise and sunset. Herons, seagulls, lobster boats..

It’s a perfect escape from everyday crazy living!

  • 5 of 5

Our kiddos ages 9 and 5 flew out of the car to explore with excitement upon arrival... they didn’t stop until we dragged them back into the car 4 days later. The property is exactly as described with a fun little play house. We loved every minute of our stay. We explored tide pools, got our feet wet, explored the area, and had fires by moonlight. It was the perfect ending to our vacation.

Just right

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is just right for a time away from the hectic pace of the world. The owner provides a true picture of the place and great ideas for trips. Her suggestions and the gift certificate for Ruth and Wimpies all exceeded expectations! Grateful for the care and sharing of their home.

Perfect little cottage!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage, in Hancock, is the perfect location for a quiet stay in Maine. It is close to the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, and the scenic Shoodic Point. It has great local restaurants and shops. We enjoyed the views each day and a fire by the water each night. We highly recommend.

Wonderful and peaceful

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent 3 nights at the cottage in mid July and had a wonderful time. When we first pulled down the driveway and saw the water views we didn’t even care what the house was like. The waterfront location was the best in the area. The house was very clean, had a well stocked kitchen, and had a lot of character. We had our meals at the table by the waters edge and watched the amazing show the sky put on each night. I have never seen that many stars. The owner also left us firewood to use in the outdoor fire pit which was a nice touch. This is a great house if you want to get away from it all and enjoy peace and solitude. On some days, we didn’t even hear a person or a car for hours. If you have kayaks, bring them. The bay is calm and protected behind the house and the views to Acadia are amazing. Acadia is about a 35 minute drive from the house. We hiked Cadillac mountain which had spectacular views. We plan on coming again for sure. Thank you Sue for sharing your piece of paradise with our family
