This unit was in horrible condition, and the property manager, Long & Foster, cares ONLY about the owner. When you sign the agreement for this property you are agreeing to pay for it no matter how poorly maintained it is, and this one should be condemned. Disgusting carpets that we threw extra sheets over so we could walk on with bare feet, worn out bedding, mildew on blinds, windows that lost their seals years ago (milky appearance on the floor to ceiling sliding glass doors that look out to the ocean, and a loud whistling sound when the wind blows which makes it nearly impossible to sleep at night), A/C that could barely keep up, paint peeling off the edges of the doors, rust on the A/C intake cover, missing blades from blinds, a thermostat from the stone age, and a property manager that was unresponsive to the concerns e-mailed to them on our day of check in. This place was such a mess that we requested a refund. The full refund was denied, and Long & Foster led us on saying the owner might consider a partial refund since we stayed there the whole time - what were we supposed to do, stay on the street???? Absurd, disappointing, and unbelievable. When Long & Foster FINALLY said we would not be getting any compensation (after a month of sending follow ups) for staying in this disgusting place, they pointed out the clauses in the rental agreement that basically say you have no recourse, and said we should have told them about the problems and they could have addressed them. I have the e-mail I sent them on the day we checked in - the one that went unanswered because they do not care about the renters. They also blamed that fact that we rented it through VRBO instead of going through them directly. Said we could have asked questions if we had gone directly through them and they could have found us a more suitable place - REALLY? A question like "is this place horrible?". I'm sure they would not have said "yes" because they obviously do not inspect these units between rentals because they really do not care - they just want your money. They used an excuse like "it's pretty late in the season and these beachfront properties take a lot of wear and tear." Yeah, I get that, but there was WAY more that one season of wear and tear on this one. LOOK ELSEWHERE, AND AVOID LONG & FOSTER PROPERTIES!! Horrible experience and horrible business model. DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE DID! Can't wait to see the fabricated response they post to this.
