Nuestra casa de aduanas de 1200 pies cuadrados, 3 habitaciones, 3 baños, fue completamente remodelada en 2013 y ofrece la mayor privacidad y aislamiento de cualquier propiedad cerca del Purgatorio, ya que se encuentra en 132 acres, pero está a menos de 2 millas de la estación de esquí y a 25 millas del centro de Durango. El listado VRBO 716605 también se encuentra en la propiedad (a 1/4 de milla de distancia) y cuenta con 2 dormitorios, 2 baños y capacidad para 6 personas, si su grupo es más grande de lo que pueden acomodar nuestros 3 dormitorios.

La cocina está equipada con electrodomésticos de acero inoxidable y encimeras de granito. La sala de estar principal cuenta con un televisor de pantalla plana de 46 pulgadas y chimenea de leña (leña incluida).

El dormitorio principal tiene una cama king size, los otros dos dormitorios tienen camas queen.

La propiedad limita con el bosque nacional Weminuche en el norte y el este, que es el área silvestre más grande y sin usar en el territorio continental de los EE. UU. Hay numerosos lagos y estanques en la propiedad, y un camino a elevaciones más altas donde las vistas de las montañas y lagos circundantes son espectaculares. Es común ver osos, ciervos, alces, ovejas de cuerno grande, liebres de raquetas de nieve, patos, gansos, pavos, coyotes, marmotas y ocasionalmente leones de montaña o alces. Todas las fotos en el listado fueron tomadas de la propiedad.

Se requiere un 4WD / AWD con buenos neumáticos de diciembre a marzo. Si planea conducir un vehículo no tan equipado, reserve en otro lugar. Aunque las carreteras están extremadamente bien mantenidas, queremos asegurarnos de que nuestros vecinos no se vean afectados negativamente por nuestros huéspedes que no pueden conducir regularmente en carreteras llenas de nieve.

Por último, amamos a los perros, y son totalmente bienvenidos siempre que se porten bien y se lleven bien con las personas y otros perros. Lucy corre libre en la propiedad.

Everything was absolutely perfect and all expectations (which were set pretty high) met. The excellent covered porch, quiet solitude to enjoy nature, loads of firewood ready to use, walking trails and outstanding/thorough access and instructions made this the perfect vacation stay. Many "Thanks" to the owner (Sean) for thinking ahead to meet a clients needs and wants.

The location was great. The cabin was perfect for us and our adult children, with 3 beds and 3 baths and a nice, well equipped kitchen. The setting was beautiful and we enjoyed the big front porch.

It doesn't get any better than this! Gorgeous views of Hermosa cliffs with aspens surrounding the cabin. Big surround deck with comfortable outdoor furniture to enjoy the scenery. Well-stocked kitchen. Responsive host.

Beautiful cabin on beautiful land. Cabin was spotlessly clean, with comfortable beds and a well equipoed, well organized kitchen. The covered porch is perfect for peacefully reading a book or just watching nature. Lots of excellent hiking trails nearby. I will very likely stay here again. My dog & I had a great time.

Loved this house and location. If you want luxury in a secluded house with views out of every window and serenity at your door step this is the place for you. The only car driving to your house will be your own. Sean The host is available for assistance at anytime and is a great host. My dog loved the place too.

The trip was great. Off from the road and we almost thought we wouldnt get out w snow even though we have four wheel drive but we did. Very close to Purgatory. Great set up.

Beautiful relaxing stay

Me and my family had a wonderful time over Christmas break staying at Sean’s cabin. Sean gave us great directions to the cabin. We had no problems finding or getting in the cabin. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable! The views were gorgeous all around the cabin. It had snowed the day prior to our arrival. We definitely needed 4 wheel drive to get down the road that leads to the cabin. We enjoyed sitting around the fire at night and playing games at the kitchen table. My family went to the slopes at Purgatory daily. Durango is a short drive away with many excellent restaurants.

Back Country Cabin

The cabin was exactually as advertised. It was located well off the highway on a dirt road which had some steep hills with ice. A fwd was required to get to the cabin. The cabin was fully equipped with everything we required. It was spotlessly clean. There was a small problem with the heater which Sean took care of immediately. We had five deer in the yard. We were far enough in the back country that we did not hear any other people during our stay. Recommend highly.

Close by Wedding

Used as a base camp for a family wedding, very convenient, easy to get to, only 1.8~2.0 miles from SH550. Close yet remote, no cars driving by. Everything you need is right where need them.

Perfect mountain getaway

The cabin was everything we wanted, seclusion, views, space for us and our dog to roam, and proximity to the amazing trails in the San Juans. We also met multiple neighbors who were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We will absolutely be staying at this property again in the future.

People and dog heaven

We chose this property because of its proximity to Silverton and many of the surrounding 4x4 trails. With 3 dogs in tow this made for a perfect home base. The property is large and well behaved dogs are free to roam.

Great secluded cabin

Perfect cabin for our family getaway. Close enough to Durango for dinners or the hot springs. But close to Silverton and Ouray for hikes and excursions. Love how secluded and private the location is. Simple and rustic enough to feel like you are in the woods and away from it but good wifi and able to check on the Olympics when we got back from hiking. Will definitely be back!

Amazing!

The property is nestled in a secluded location within in minutes of Purgatory. Easy access, great mountain hikes around the property and the view and quietness was absolutely what we all needed! House was clean, spacious and each room has its own bathroom which everyone loved! The owner was communicative and assisted us when I called with a minor inconvenience. You will love the gorgeous mountains and if you are looking for seclusion this is it!

Views Galore

This year, my partner and I traveled with three of our grandchildren. We needed at least two bathrooms and three bedrooms. This house hit the mark. Each bedroom had an attached full bathroom, which gave everyone room and time to prepare for the day out in the beautiful San Juan mountains. It was very quiet and had all the conveniences we needed for our lodging. The views of the mountains from our cabin's wrap around porch were breathtaking. I would highly recommend this home if you are a looking for beautiful views, mountain living and hiking areas at your fingertips. This cabin is the place for you!!

Sean grew up in the area, skiing every weekend at Purgatory, and graduating from Durango High School before leaving to experience life outside this rural community. After 25 years, he and Leslie decided to move back to the mountains of Southwest Colorado to be close to family and all of the outdoor activities they enjoy.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

This area is the Saudi Arabia of solar energy, with plenty of water and lots of trees. It is easy to build a comfortable and highly sustainable life here. All of the houses, barns, and greenhouses were built using wood harvested from the property. The 27' x 110' greenhouse provides fruits and vegetables not only for Sean and Leslie, but for a number of other families in the area. Standing dead trees are harvested and provide a backup heat source for all the homes and buildings on the property, with an additional 120 cords of wood harvested for sale, providing a carbon neutral source of heat. The trees are harvested primarily to improve the health of the forest.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

There is nothing better than cozying up to a real wood fire after a full day of skiing, watching the snow fall during the winter, or lounging on the covered deck and watching the sun disappear over the mountains during the summer. The kids will have a great time exploring the forest, fishing in the nearby creeks or lake, biking, horseback riding or the many other activities close by.
