Ultra Green Modern Mountain Home

The home has a 360' wrap around porch, with the back porch facing the Hermosa cliffs to the west. Upon entering the home, you'll be taken by the massive wood Cathedral Ceilings, open floor plan, and wall of windows to the south. The front porch is screened during the summer, and an arctic entry during the winter months. Views to the South, East, and West are of mountains and forest.

Our 1800 Sq ft, 3 bedroom, 3-1/2 bath, custom home was finished the spring of 2020. It offers privacy and seclusion as it sits at the very end of the road with a 132 acre parcel to the north that you are free to access. It is 2 miles from Purgatory ski resort and 25 miles from downtown Durango.

The kitchen is outfitted with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. The main living space features a 60 inch flat screen OLED Smart TV with Sonos Surround Sound System and wood burning fireplace (wood provided).

The master bedroom is on the main floor and has a king size bed with En-Suite Bath. One of the upstairs bedrooms also has a king, the other a queen.

Beautiful home that sits at the end of a well-maintained dirt road. If you're "city folk", you might find the drive up (consisting of some twists and turns) intimidating, but it's navigable in 2WD/FWD during non-winter times. I drove it a number of times in 2WD in a half-ton pickup and another drove it in a FWD car, no issues. Now onto the visit - we had a hiccup at the beginning, but the owner stayed on top of it and got the issue resolved. After that it was smooth sailing. The photos on the listing are accurate. Very enjoyable stay. Sean was good to communicate with and made sure we were taken care of. Thanks Sean, for letting us stay at your great place!

Gorgeous home close to skiing

Perfect place to stay if you are skiing purgatory! Every bedroom has its own bathroom. Everything is brand new and gorgeous, the pictures do not do it justice!! Will definitely stay here for another ski trip

Excellent stay

Modern, fresh, and extremely clean and well maintained property. Perfect location for our ski trip at Purgatory. Extra large garage with direct access made loading/unloading a breeze. Kids enjoyed the large yard/open space; parents enjoyed have kids on separate level of the cabin. Thanks for letting us enjoy your property!

Private & Cozy Mountain Home

We loved staying in this beautiful mountain home that backs up to the owner’s private property. It’s so quiet and gives you the feeling of seclusion even though you’re only minutes away from the slopes. The wood burning fireplace is also amazing! We love everything about this house and definitely recommend it!

Lake Purgatory Gem

We had an amazing three weeks at the house. Our third time coming and absolutely love the location. We were able to venture out to Telluride, Silverton, Durango while being close to “base”. Sean does an excellent job of communicating and the property is top notch. Clean, very well equipped and perfect for our needs. See you next year Sean and truly appreciate the stay.

Great house and great location!

My wife and I stayed with our pup at this beautiful home when we visited the Durango/Purgatory area in October of 2022. The home is very well appointed and outfitted with anything you’d need. The home is very warm and comfortable as well as very private. If you’re looking for a great place to stay while in the Durango area, this home is it!

Book it!

This property and home were immaculate. The road to get to the house is all dirt and has large hills but in the summer we had no issues with our two-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive vehicles. All of our vehicles fit into the huge garage. The garage is attached and there is a stairwell into the house which was a little steep but had a railing. House was very clean and even better in pictures. The rooms were spacious with plenty of closet space, and each shower was huge. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you would need, a little narrow if multiple people are trying to be in it at the same time. Great enclosed front porch for the evening and chilly nights. Beautiful wrap-around porch and the view off the balcony were beautiful. Home is pet friendly and our pups loved it. The host was amazing and so helpful! He was so accommodating and quick to respond to any messages sent. We cannot wait to come back for a longer time.

So Colorado Cool

Fantastic Views inside and out, tranquility, clean and spacious, hiking, biking, fishing , bars and grills. This is the place to be to escape the heat, not to mention the proximity to Purgatory for all winter activities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, as did our four legged friends. Yes, this is in Gold Country, but the Gold Mine is right here. Thank you Sean.

When can I come back!

Sean was easy to communicate with and responsive to emails in a timely manner. My husband and I brought our dogs and met my parents in Durango. The house was immaculate, great location, and the perfect size. Directions were easy to follow. The modern aesthetic was beautiful and I loved all the wood. The windows bring in loads of natural light and make the home feel spacious and comfortable. The roads leading up do require at least a mid size SUV. There was still snow and we were fine in my rav and 4runner. Anything lower may have had a harder time. I wouldn't suggest coming late at night for the first time as it could come off confusing. Overall loved this location and home. Would come back again anytime with the pups.

Sean grew up in the area, skiing every weekend at Purgatory, and graduating from Durango High School before leaving to experience life outside this rural community. After 25 years, he decided to move back to the mountains of Southwest Colorado to be close to family and all of the outdoor activities.

This area is the Saudi Arabia of solar energy, with plenty of water and lots of trees. It is easy to build a comfortable and highly sustainable life here. Sean also owns the 132 acres to the north. All of the houses (including this one), barns, and greenhouses were built using wood harvested from the property. The 27' x 110' greenhouse provides fruits and vegetables not only for Sean and Leslie, but for a number of other families in the area. Standing dead trees are harvested and provide a backup heat source for all the homes and buildings, with an additional 120 cords of wood harvested for sale, providing a carbon neutral source of heat. The trees are harvested primarily to improve the health of the forest.

Qué hace que este alojamiento sea especial

There is nothing better than cozying up to a real wood fire after a full day of skiing, watching the snow fall during the winter, or lounging on the covered deck and watching the sun disappear over the mountains during the summer. The kids will have a great time exploring the forest, fishing in the nearby creeks or lake, biking, horseback riding, riding the Alpine Slide and Mountain Coaster at Purgatory, or the many other activities close by.
