Why Danny Murphy chose Marshallberg
This is our HAPPY PLACE! We are just starting to rent because we do not have as much free time to use. We have spent most every summer, spring & fall weekend at Marshelberg since we purchased about 12 years ago. We love it & know you will too!
What makes this Cottage unique
Spectacular views. Quiet. Remote location but close enough to get to Beaufort or Atlantic Beach in just a few minutes.

Like being on a ship
We really enjoyed our stay at the Murphy's. We have stayed in ocean front properties but staying on the tidal sound was a very special experience. The house is so close to the water and has so many windows, you feel like you are in a ship on the water. My young children enjoyed watching the changes brought on by each tide and the constant visitations by different types of birds. Although is was early in the season, we set out the crab pots and caught a hermit crab which was fun. We tried fishing on the docks but nothing was biting and the weather was too cold. FYI, I can report that their heating system works very well! We appreciated the well-supplied kitchen. We spent a day taking the ferry to Shackleford Banks and Cape Lookout - this is a must for any trip. Every night we ate at one of the wonderful seafood restaurants on Harker's Island, about 10 minutes away. Twice we went to Seaside (amazing chowder and fried shrimp, where the locals eat) and the other time Fish Hook grill (also very good, tuna was great). The Murphy's are great to work with and very responsive. We hope to return another time during warmer weather to enjoy swimming, kayaking and fishing.
Convenient and Relaxing Place for the Family
Danny and Jan’s home was a great place for a Spring Break stay for my family and I. We had access to their dock and with a public boat launch within walking distance, we had a chance to use our small power boat. When the wind picked up and made boating a challenge we did day trips into Beaufort and Harker’s Iskand. Lots to do and see if you like learning about the great fishing and boat building history of the area.
Access to local seafood from Mr. Big and having a full kitchen made for a couple of great family dinners.
Thanks Danny and Jan for a headache free accommodation.
Very clean and well set up. Awesome views! Everything we needed for a great vacation!
The home was extremely clean and had everything a family would need.
We truly enjoyed our experience. We stayed for a week and was able to visit many areas nearby. Being able to come back to a nice home to cook or wash clothes was so helpful with three kids. We caught crab in the traps, kids fished and just relaxing in the screened in porch was so relaxing. Listening to the waves and watching the cranes and other birds was very peaceful. We look forward to doing this again.
A Hidden Gem
This was our second stay at this property. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway in a very nice house with incredible views, look no further. Great crabbing and shrimping from your own private pier. Crab pots and a kayak are available to use. Note to the Murphys: Let me know if you ever decide to sell.
