About Reuel & Sara Detweiler
We built the AFrame in 1969 and have been renting to vacationers ever since that time. We now have the second generation bringing their families. Each year we do an upgrade and our guests love to come back to see what might be the newest project. Our 3 boys helped us clean and mow yards as they were growing up, and now have families of their own. Reuel's profession was building and finishing log homes, so he puts his skills to use at the AFrame. Sara worked at the Nursing Home for 20 years after being a stay at home Mom. Reuel grew up on the family farm where the cottage is located, and met Sara in Pennsylvania. We live in a log home on the 30 acres so are close by when you need us.

Why Reuel & Sara Detweiler chose Fairview
This is a beautiful place to enjoy all four seasons. In the spring, maple syrup is made from trees on the property, wild flowers, and mushrooms abound in the area. Spring is a good time to view deer, turkey, and migrating birds. Summer is family time for hiking, fishing, swimming, or basking in the Michigan sun. There is time for day trips to Mackinaw Island, or Light Houses along the shore. In the fall, the autumn colors are some of the best in the state. Winter snow and frozen lakes bring joy to skiers, snowmobilers, and ice fisherman. This is also time to enjoy a good book by the crackling fireplace.
What makes this Chalet unique
The A-Frame cottage is unique with its open stairway leading to the third bedroom in the open loft with upper deck off the bedroom. The WiFi was just added last year and allows you to bring your work with you if you choose. The dishwasher and wood burning fireplace are also new to the AFrame this year. The best thing that many enjoy, is the privacy and away- from- it- all feeling that you have when you stay here.

Lovely, comfy, cozy A-Frame chalet
Absolutely enjoyed our stay! Will go back again. Clean and pretty well stocked kitchen. Loved the wood burning stove. Quiet and peaceful setting.
Thanks so much for your great review. We are happy to hear your time at the AFrame was enjoyed by all. We look forward to your return!
We enjoyed the warm, quiet atmosphere on a cold winter weekend. Looking forward to staying again!
We were able to find everything we needed and enjoy our time away.
Peaceful and serene
Very comfy. Beautiful view, quiet, and secluded. A very peaceful vacation.
Exactly what I was looking for in a short getaway. Secluded area with plenty of scenery to enjoy. Weather was a bit chilly for the season, but there was plenty of fire wood to keep us warm. Small markets had plenty of food and options of any city to appease anyone. Would recommend to anyone looking to get away from the big city
So happy you wrote about your stay and that your time was pleasant and relaxing. Please visit us again!

This was our 15th year taking a vacation at this place. After all these years it feels like we are leaving our home to go to our home away from home. We always enjoy the peace and quite, the fishing and near by swimming at Perry Lake. I love the privacy! There is always a breeze on those hot summer days! Great place to stay and just unwind and enjoy life! We will be back next year! Always a pleasure to look forward to!
Thanks, Vicki, for a great description of your week at the AFrame. Can’t believe it’s been 15 years already! So glad to have you back next year. Have a great summer!
