Conveniently located behind lush, fragrant hedges, Cedargate is deep in East End quaint history as well as in its allure. Located steps from the Moriches Bay this historical 1830's seaside farmhouse underwent a complete and total restoration in 2019. Tastefully modernized, Our Farmhouse features cold crisp central air conditioning, original exposed beams, hand hewn girders and lots of exposed brick and stonework. Its serene, enchanting setting will warm your soul. Offering five bedrooms in total, it enjoys a downstairs master en suite with a master spa featuring a steam shower, deep Jaccuzi tub, heated towel rack and separate toilet room with bidet. The library/media room features one of three, attractive, gas burning fireplaces, along with a sun drenched living room with a handsome gas burning stove. The gourmet kitchen features high end stainless appliances, honed Carrara marble throughout and an original brick fireplace. The second level enjoys three additional bedrooms and even a South facing veranda overlooking the property. Old World meets new world with an in house sound system and smart home automation. Artsy attributes are appreciated throughout. This original Tuthill home is beautifully sited on very private generous acreage. Rear and front yards are replete with glorious berry and vegetable gardens as well as abundant old growth specimen trees. Retreat- like, the ultra private property offers ample treasures from an outdoor screened gazebo, Game Barn Hideout, oversized heated salt water heated pool , brilliant outdoor shower off the master, shade corners for afternoon tea, 'hammock hang outs' and so much more! Great house for a variety of groups!

Group of old friends rented this lovely property conveniently situated . We enjoyed the north fork one day and the Hamptons another, all easy to get to. Great pool and lots of beds and space. Host was easy to work with and very nice! We will be back.

Family Time

My family had a wonderful and relaxing time at this rental. It was so nice to hang out by the pool, read a bit, play ping pong and badminton. Our little dog loved walking around the yard and inspecting all of the trees and bushes. Plenty of room, we didn't even go to the second floor! We can't wait to start here again.

In every sense of the word, Cedargate is idyllic. A hidden gem amongst hidden gems. You’ll find yourself settling in as if it was your own home. The owner Sean has done an unbelievable job renovating the estate, which you without a doubt will appreciate with every detail you discover.

Great July 4th week!

The house is a fabulous summer getaway. The house itself is really cute with lovely historical finishes and fireplaces and wood beams. The kitchen is new and outfitted with great appliances. The bedrooms are all very comfortable. The best part of the house is the backyard area. Sean has outfitted it with all kinds of games such as badminton, corn hole, ping pong and a fabulous large swimming pool. East Moriches is a wonderful place if you like the country feel without all the hassle of the Hamptons. We would definitely like to come back!

Grandparents, parents, a 12 yr old boy, 14 yr old girl and a 2-yr old boy. There are 4 sleeping areas/bedrooms with 1 sleeping area (with 2 twin beds) through another sleeping area/bedroom. There is a separate screened gazebo seating area between the house and pool and a separate roofed and walled structure (seating area/TV) near the ping/pong table, corn-hole game setup (along with other outdoor games), there are two other seating areas (umbrella covered table/chairs) within the yard as well as another umbrella covered outdoor table/chairs near the BBQ area. There is also a badminton setup. We saw deer and fireflies. The library has a number of games for indoor activities. There is literally a number of things to do, enjoy as a family at this location. This is an older renovated house - so lots of character and warmth. Ideal family home. loved it.

Nice Stay in East Moriches

The house is beautiful, the garden and pool are perfect. Extra features such as ping pong table, badminton and more are all really good. Very nice outside netted gazebo. Know that it is a period house, well refurbished, which we liked, a little dark inside, not a more modern house - it is after all a converted farmhouse. Bedroom-1 is fabulous, with its own garden access, Bedroom-2 is very nice, with its own balcony. Bedroom-3 is nice for kids/young teens. Bedroom-4 which is not shown online is thru Bedroom-2 which is not ideal if kids are older than 10/12. 3 nice bathrooms and an outside shower. Sheets and towels all good. Perfect combo is 4 adults and 4 children 0 thru 16. Kitchen is a little short of plates and cutlery; small amounts of household maintenance would be welcome - especially given that it is expensive (mosquito netting in the gazebo. outside grill, badminton racquets), but overall this is a property we would look to rent again. Did not like the fact though that the apparently affordable rent was then impacted by a large convenience/fee. I would have scored it 5/5 if it was cheaper than it was, but at the price 4/5 is the right score.

Awesome House

Beautiful house, lots of attention to detail. Pool is lovely. Enough chairs, towels and toys. We swam surrounded by blooming gorgeous hydrangeas. Totally fenced in yard so our dogs could romp around freely. Sean was very attentive and friendly. 10/10!

Gem of a property!

Amazing time was had by all ages! Beautiful property with a pool that no one wanted to get out of. The house was very clean and comfortable for our group of 8 (4 kids and 4 adults) and Sean was super easy to communicate with. We didn’t want to leave!

Dream Family Getaway

This property had everything we wanted, expected and more. The house, grounds and pool are quite beautiful. Our host was gracious and helpful. The only problem was that we couldn't stay longer. Just a beautiful time at a beautiful place.

Lovely cottage with terrific grounds

My family and I stayed for a week in Sean's lovely house. We hardly needed to leave. The house is very well prepared for guests to enjoy with plenty of staples in the kitchen, pots and pans, games, nice linens, and beautiful grounds with a great pool. Sean was a wonderful host. He welcomed us to the house and was very quick to respond to any questions I had during our stay. We would definitely return again and highly recommend his rental.

Beautiful Vacation spot

The house is just beautiful. Well equipped and clean - plenty of everything you need. Towels, sheets, seating. The outdoor area is huge! Beautiful with many areas to congregate or sit and work. Fantastic large salt water pool and such a nice neighborhood to walk/bike in. Sean is an excellent host. Always available and goes the extra mile. He was helpful and knowledgeable about the house/area and always available for every/any question. We loved being there and Sean even went way out of his way to return a forgotten article to me we had left behind. This property will not disappoint!! Book it!!! Susan C

Can’t say enough about our week at Cedargate. Beautiful house, pool and garden.

The house is very well equipped with everything that you could need. Very clean, nicely decorated and welcoming. The garden is great and it is fully enclosed, our dog enjoyed running free! The salt water pool was perfect, our kids spent hours in it. The location is very private and away from everything. We enjoyed the short walks nearby and how close we were to Westhampton beach. Sean was very quick to respond to our questions and took the time to show us everything at the property and gave us great recommendations of things to do.We will be back!

Beautiful, charming farmhouse

From the moment that you drive up to the cedar gate, you will fall in love with this charming property. The house dates back to the 1830s but is beautifully renovated and modernized. My family has been here for six weeks and we will be here for the rest of the summer. We have enjoyed every amenity the house offers; from the multiple smart TVs to the fireplaces and spa-like master bath. As the weather is getting warmer we are enjoying the beautiful yard with multiple fruit trees, berry bushes and flowers galore. The oversized pool faces south so it is always bathed in sunshine . There are multiple places on the property to enjoy being outside including a gazebo and shaded area. Sean, the owner, is a gracious host. He met us here on the first day and gave us a tour of the house and property and he has been attentive to our every need since. The area surrounding the house is lovely as well. We are walking distance to the bay and The neighborhood has quiet streets for our 9 year-old daughter to go bike riding and scooting. Overall we are having a wonderful time and are looking forward to the rest of our summer here!

Amazing Property and cannot wait to come back during Spring/Summer

The property is amazing with beautiful, open, private, and secure landscaping. Our two small dogs loved running around the large backyard, and we felt completely safe with a full perimeter fence that protected them. The renovations to this 1800's captains, cottage were spot on, yet up to date. Cozy, warm, inviting, convenient, and spa-like. The steam shower in the master was a nice surprise. There are plenty of beds and enough bathrooms for a large family. The location was close enough to conveniences provided in East and Central Moriches. Even with the 12 hours up and 12 hours back car ride to Chapel Hill, the stay at this place made it all worth the while. We definitely want to come back during the spring/summer to enjoy the pool, hammock, and gazebo in the gorgeous back yard.

Relaxing vacation in LI

My husband, 5-year old son, in-laws and I just rented this house for a week and we had a fantastic stay. I would absolutely recommend it. Here's what was great: newly renovated house so everything was nice and new and clean (great kitchen with all the cooking stuff you could possibly need, nice towels and bedding, beautifully designed/decorated), fantastic pool (with all kinds of fun floats including a unicorn) that was perfect for my son as the shallow end is 3-feet deep (deep end goes to 8.5 feet), gorgeous property and yard - tons of space, really quiet and private, beautifully landscaped, and fun touches like a hammock, gazebo, outdoor tables, fancy grill - we were even able to pick blackberries and raspberries on the property and were visited by tons of butterflies each day! I'd say the yard/property plus pool is really the selling point though the house is also really beautiful and comfortable. To be aware of: there are steps in the master bedroom and bathroom downstairs and the stair case upstairs is pretty steep, there is no microwave, and there were no blinds in the upstairs bedrooms - so bring a sleep mask! (That said, we slept great.) Also, the TVs are internet TVs which is great for things like Netflix and Prime but not so great for local cable. And there is a gate to the property that needs to be manually opened and closed each time you come and go to keep the deer out. While a little inconvenient, it keeps the property in beautiful shape and we were much less worried about ticks while outside so that's a big plus (you'll see dozens of deer as you drive to and from the house). Sean the owner was super communicative and helped out with any questions we had. Overall, any minor inconveniences noted above were just that: minor. I would absolutely recommend and our family would love to come back next summer!

Very Pleased

4 couples and 2 small children stayed at the house for 4 days. I was thrilled through and through. Here are notes: 1) everything is basically brand new. 2) the air conditioning worked VERY well. 3) owner gave me a very nice welcome tour. 4) master bedroom/bathroom are magical....top notch everything 5) the towels!!! 8 adults talking about how amazing the bath towels are. 6) pool/property was amazing. Great getaway

We had a great family reunion at this house this summer. The location is great if you enjoy much less traffic and the crazy bustle from the Hamptons. The bay areas and beaches are idyllic and if you enjoy fishing, crabbing and clamming with the kids then this house is perfectly situated for those activities. The house is very comfortable and fits 6 adults comfortably. Everything is brand new and recently renovated so it’s fresh and clean. The kitchen is well equipped with kitchen appliances , the house stayed very cool during our stay (important factor given there was a heatwave while we were out there) and they have a big pool with lots of pool toys for everyone to swim in. The house is remote enough that you hear zero noise but close enough to all the amenities if you needed to go grocery shopping or visit a farmers market. (5 min drive) There is a poultry farm about 20 mins away that sold really fresh chickens and eggs which was a great find! Administratively, it was really easy to book this house. The owner was quick to respond and very helpful. I would imagine this house being really nice to rent in the fall and winter months too given they have some nice fireplaces in the kitchen / living area to sit near. A beautiful home away from home.

Our overall experience was amazing, the house and its host were welcoming and warm. This was our first family trip to the Hamptons and it could not of gone any better! From the stunning rooms to the salt water pool there really wasn't any reason to want to leave this sanctuary, even for the beach! Our host was also amazing, he was very helpful and quick at responding to all our quirking questions and requests, his brunch recommendation were great too. We loved his home so much we would love to visit it again soon.
