4th of July Holiday

Came to enjoy 4th of July with family and friends. We took an enjoyable air boat ride at Black Hammock. Enjoyed the food trucks and entertainment and fireworks at Winter Springs Park

Peace and quiet!

We had an excellent stay at the Cottage! It is located on a very quiet street and all that we needed was provided. The host is wonderful and VERY communicative. Beds are comfortable and the living area is welcoming. We would definitely return.

This was a nice little cottage. It was clean and the directions were clear to get there. The internet was in and out most of the weekend.

Loved it

The house and location were awesome. It was very remote and very beautiful. We had one issue with the dryer not working but the owner was very responsive and tried to resolve it.

Great For Large Family Gathering

We rented both this cottage and the adjacent larger house for a recent family event in the area. We had a total of 13 people ranging in age from one to ninety. Everyone was very comfortably accommodated. Communication with the host was easy. The houses are comfortably and thoughtfully furnished. I highly recommend this rental, especially if you have a large group to accommodate.

Great Place for a Romantic Getaway!

The Gator Cove Cottage was a great place for my wife and I to get away for a 3 day weekend together. The open floor plan between the kitchen and living room was really nice. There was easily enough room for another couple to have stayed in the other bedroom. The views out the windows were beautiful. We ate dinner at the Black Hammock on Saturday and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. We would gladly stay here again and would recommend this property to others!

Off the beaten path in Orlando

I really enjoyed my stay at the Black Hammock Cottage. I was looking for a peaceful place to stay close to Orlando so I could visit my son. It was outside of the city, but close enough to get to anything we needed like restaurants, gas stations and grocery stores. The place was clean and stocked with what we needed when we arrived. I also visited the bar on the 4th of July and enjoyed watching the fireworks at multiple locations across the lake. We did eat at the restaurant one day for lunch and they were extremely friendly and the food was good.

Relaxing quiet getaway

It was a nice relaxing quiet getaway. The restaurant and bar has just reopened from the hurricanes so food was limited and not so good. We were under the impression there would be a New Years Eve party with a DJ at the bar and that did not happen. But as far as the accomidations they were great and the host was attentive.

Peaceful and perfect

This little cottage is absolutely beautiful the details such as granite and the appliances , the backyard views it’s all amazing. The air conditioner works really well and that’s important in Florida of course but it’s on a dead end road and it’s just very peaceful with ample parking a very safe walk to the front door.. another thing the blackout blinds and drapes make the room so you can sleep at anytime of the day or night. It’s amazing I love this place I will stay again. We will stay again. Bowdie and Jenx

Great place

This was just as described. Very clean and quiet surroundings. We were there for 3 weeks. The only thing I would suggest isa small or stick vacuum for cleaning. 3 weeks is long to go without the floors being vacuumed. A broom is not enough. Otherwise thank you so much for a beautiful vacation

Cute cottage, perfect for our family

We loved the home and location. The only concern we had was that the toilet was broken, causing it to run constantly. We reached out to the property Manager but didn’t get a response until the morning we were leaving. Because the toilet was running, we had a horrible sulfur smell from all the running water throughout the house. It was pretty unbearable and it was hard to feel clean after showering because of it . If the issue had been corrected when we called, the house would have received 5 stars. We absolutely loved everything else about it.

Sweet & Cozy

My husband and I just stayed here for the weekend. It was exactly what the write up said online, the cottage was sweet and cozy. Cleanliness: the bathroom could have used a little bit more attention to detail, other than that everything else was very clean. The property: The cottage is definitely remote. We were the only ones staying in that particular area. All the other houses and cottages were empty. The grounds of the cottage were pretty, the grass immediately around the cottage was cut, but it would’ve been nice if the entire lot was cut to be able to sit out back and really enjoy the view without looking at high grass. The beds: We stayed in back bedroom which was nice and had a door out to the patio. The mattress was not as firm as we would have liked it but it also wasn’t hateful. Communication: Joel & Christina were very nice to deal with (via message). They were always very quick to get back to me. The check-in process: Very easy. I was sent a message within two hours of checking in with all the information needed, from Wi-Fi password to the front door code. It was perfect for our weekend getaway!!

All was well until…

Staying by the lake in early February was very quiet. I don’t know if it would be as quiet in the height of summer. There is ample parking but it is shared with the larger house next door. There is also quite a long sidewalk to the front door if you are carrying things in. The main room has two comfortable couches and both bedrooms are a nice size with very comfortable beds. There are big closets but no dressers. The kitchen has full size appliances, but was lacking in some cooking items. There were no sheet pans or microwaveable cooking dishes. My problem came with the “starter supplies” which was in the listing. We had one garbage bag for the kitchen. I was told at 9 pm after we emptied the garbage that only “starter supplies” were stocked and they had no extras that could be brought to us. So, bring kitchen trash bags, dishwasher pods, paper towels, leftover containers, teaspoons (there are two) toilet paper (there were two rolls), hand soap and wash cloths (there was one). I was also disappointed that there wasn’t a view of the lake from the cottage, but the Black Hammock restaurant and bar is a short walk and has a lovely view from the back where you can watch the sunset.

Could be nice but DIRTY

It could be a nice place but you can tell nobody puts any pride into it. The floors were so dirty they would turn the bottoms of your feet black within minutes. The owner sent someone to "clean" but they need hours of work, not a 20 minute swiffer job. All the kitchen stuff dirty when we arrived and we had to spend time cleaning it before fixing dinner. When using the shower the water backs up and you are ankle deep in a yellow tinted water. The listing says "brand new property", maybe years ago. The corrosion on the shower head and drain tell a different story, that doesn't happen overnight. There was also a large active wasp nest on the back patio that was quite stressful. We thought we would also support the restaurant they have and took a bunch of family there, that was a big mistake. They left off my order and when I finally got it it was not only wrong, but I had to go get it myself from another building because everyone in our party had already finished their meals. The only saving grace for this property was that it was very quiet and we did sleep well each night. Other renters around us were well behaved and respected the quiet hours.
