Summer vacation

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was a last minute rental due to a problem with our regular summer vacation plans. The place was nice. It’s a little outdated and needs to be cleaned. Really really well. The drapes in the bedroom have a very musty, smell and look old and dirty, and it was very loud because of the construction on the building nearby, even though the condo overlooks the pool, there was constant screaming and yelling of kids and adults at all hours of the day and night. Also the blinds in the main living room need to be darker instead of white because it’s impossible to sleep in in the morning chair service Was great, but the people Who run it, an attitude . The condo was not terrible but just needs a little updating and some TLC... Was nice being on one of the bottom floors so we didn’t have to take the elevator all the time. Overall, it was a decent week. I did enjoy my visit but not sure I would stay here again.

If we had any needs or concerns during our stay the staff was very helpful and responsive to take care of an issue. Our condo was comfortable and very convenient to the upper level parking. We have been very pleased to rent through Brooks and Shorey. Very good to work with.

Family Vacay

Spent a week with my 2 grandkids age 16 and 7. The unit was clean. The kitchen was well supplied with dishes and cookware. Pool was nice and just a short walk to beach. Very kid friendly. The only negative thing was there was construction going on and it was noisy at times and also parking was hard due to Thee construction. They were up front about the construction when we rented the unit. All in all it was a good experience and I would definitely rent this unit again

Not clean

The property is not well maintained, there was broken pieces on both bathroom cabinets and one of the side tables in the living room, and grout missing from a part of the floor. We were not left with enough linens for all the beds so had to sleep on a bare mattress the first night. The beds also weren't made up. We found the blankets in the bedroom closet and made them ourselves. Now, the more concerning parts: it was not clean. The floor was black in the crevices, the curtains are discolored where many hands have grabbed them to shut them and they've obviously never been cleaned. There was MOLD on the curtains. Clumps of dust on the ceiling that were falling on us throughout our stay. I brought all this to their attention and all we got was a maid that came to sweep and mop. I was told nothing else can be done because the unit has to be vacant for a deep cleaning and the curtains need to be ordered. The location is great. If you're interested in staying at the Island Princess, I encourage you to look for other units not managed by Brooks and Shorey because these are not issues that spontaneously pop up overnight. This is the result of not properly cleaning and maintaining the property between guests, period.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall condition of the condo was barely satisfactory. The curtains in living room and the bedroom are clearly stained and dirty. We wore socks at night and they were literally full of dirt by the time we went to bed. The bathroom has chipped countertops. The refrigerator was broken the night we checked in. I think more attention should be taken for the amount of money we put out for a weeks stay.

Beach Condo

Reviewer Comments: I was able to access the condo earlier than anticipated and was very pleased upon entering the unit. After being there for a while, I realized the floors were extremely dirty and had not been cleaned properly. I had to wear shoes the entire time because the dirt was everywhere. There are broken cabinets in the kitchen, the shower faucet in the bath area has accumulated mold on it. The mattresses are extremely old and were very uncomfortable. I had to sleep on the couch (not the pull out), just the couch as the mattress was so bad. If the property were updated and given a thorough cleaning, I would recommend it to a friend as the view was perfect. However, in it's current state, I could not recommend. The location was great for beach access. Not located near any restaurants so an uber was required to go to the grocery store, restaurants, and tourist attractions. I believe these points should be mentioned in the rental description as I flew in and did not have a rental car. The furniture was nice in the living room area. I did the jet boat ride in Destin and was able to see many dolphins. I would definitely recommend this activity. The shopping at the Destin Harborwalk was fun. I enjoyed The Shack and Tail Spin restaurants. The Fudgery store in Destin had the best caramel apples I have ever eaten. In the email I received prior to my arrival, I was advised I needed to bring toilet paper, hair dryer and paper towels. I think the description should indicate that enough paper products are available in the unit for a few days, along with detergent for laundry and dishwasher. I had to pack these things as I was not aware they would actually be available in the unit. It was a restful and enjoyable 5 days. The young men setting up the umbrellas and chairs were friendly and helpful.

oh what a new mattress would do!

My wife nor I got a good night's rest the whole vacation. This makes my overall rating a 3 just because we were both feeling tired every day. Everything else was fine besides no electrical outlets at the bunk bed area. This was a pain for my kids devices when they wanted to stay up late. I mean, they are on vacation too!

Parking was very good always found a spot steps away from our front door. Room was nice and in good condition and clean. It had all the necessities, towels, toilet paper, trash bags, paper towels, etc. I loved that there were a lot of towel hooks so you could hang up all of your stuff! Beautiful view of ocean and pool! 10/10 would visit again
