We had a great time!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sawyer’s Cabin! We have absolutely no complaints, and would definitely stay again!
Relaxing long weekend.
Sawyers cabin is a perfect little get away. The cabin is great, very quiet, close to Asheville. Janet is a pleasure to deal with, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who would a nice get away. This would be great in the spring or summer, there’s a bocce, croquet court and a horseshoe pit. There is a nice little pond and pavilion to have a picnic. I would definitely come back to this or any of the other cabins. Thanks Janet for being a great hostess.
We spent January 9-11 at Sawyer's cabin for my wife's 30th birthday. We also had our 2 years old and 4 year old.
We felt the cabin was very neat, new, and nicely crafted. We especially appreciated the craftsmanship knowing Jeff had built it with lumber from the property itself, while using a mobile band saw.
We felt it was close enough to Asheville, yet far enough to feel somewhat out in the country. We enjoyed the biltmore and Loved the Lobster Trap (fairly expensive, but some of the best food I've eaten).
The only thing I could comment on that may help the cabin and those that stay in the future would be 1) a walkway from the front of the cabin down to the back of the cabin. and 2) possibly a dog gait or some form of gait to put in front of the loft steps to keep small kids from trying to climb the rather steep loft ladder. Please understand I am in no way complaining, the cabin was perfect for our weekend getaway.
The cabin itself is beautiful. The surroundings are somewhat poor simply due to the neighbors (I know this is nothing the owners have control over). While sitting in the cabin, out one window is beautiful mountain view overlooking a blueberry patch and pond, but through another window is a camper and thing piled up.
Overall, we loved our stay! We thought the price was good for what the stay offered and would recommend to those looking to stay at a nice, neatly crafted cabin at a fair price.
Beautiful cabin close to civilization
Our family of four truly enjoyed our stay at Sawyers Cabin in Cloud 9 Farm. Such a unique experience to share with the kids. Everything was top notch and we had all the basic kitchen necessities (coffee, sugar, condiments, etc) — very helpful when you’re away from home! We loved exploring the farm grounds, feeding the cows and waking the trails. And, of course, the hot tub was awesome! We were also thrilled to be close to so grocery stores, restaurants, and Asheville. Beautiful property and scenery! You won’t regret this place.
Cabin is cute and adequate for a couple. Not handcap accessible. Restricts occupancy to 4 people at all times (only 4 people allowed in house at any time).
I learned in the welcome letter of an external security cameras (1 at front door & 1 front of house) to monitor the driveway - to ensure our safety, no parties and no pets aka the owner is monitoring the coming/ goings to ensure compliance.
Location isn't desirable due to the following 1) views from the main four windows in kitchen/dining/living room to the backyard has a RV along with an unkept yard and house, right side of house has a large window above the bed which has a view of an RV and several houses, left side has a mountain view which is more than 10 miles away, view of the blueberry field and a small pond, and the front faces the main road/woods.
Yard. Parking lot with nice landscaping. The creek is extremely small and is overgrown. The backyard is accessible from the lower level (basement) and the steep grade from the sides of the house with no walkways. Side porch with an entrance into the kitchen and the lower level is accessible from the front of the house.
Cabin: Entrance to the basement (lower level) is outside of the house. There is no entrance from the inside.
Loft. Very steep stairs, one side of the bed has a fixed wooden box (can't move) and the other side is narrow limiting your ability to get in/out of bed requiring you to turn sideways to get in/out of bed.
Two recliner chairs for sitting on main level.
Extremely bright in the mornings with all the blinds down on the main level inhibiting sleep.
The owner's welcome letter went against the management company by 1) wanting us to only use the main level even though the listing and payment is for all; 2) wanting to charge an additional cleaning fee directly to her upon our arrival if we used the lower level; and 3) collect damages payable directly to her which was already covered through the damage fee paid to the management company.
Upon arriving to the cabin we discovered the key code for the lower level wasn't the same as the main level. I contacted the owner and she provided it after interrogating me again on who I brought and the ages. Less than 20 minutes later, I receive a text she was coming over. She came over to bring me tissues (several boxes were in cabin) - we felt this was an excuse to cover over.
We left 2 days early because of the owners conduct/actions from reservation to checking in.
Kimberly, the homeowner would like to share the following message:
"We opened this house a year ago and this is the first guest to share such complaints. We’re always disappointed if a guest doesn’t have the perfect stay, so to Kimberly I offer a sincere apology. We have been renting our houses for 12 plus years and hope to continue building so we can share this wonderful place with more people. The house isn’t handicap accessible. I designed the house to fit a sloping lot and never intended to give the impression it was handicap accessible.
Yes, I installed security cameras. I installed them myself hoping my guests would find security in knowing that while they were out enjoying our mountains, their abode was being watched. I have no interest in monitoring my guests daily and their privacy is paramount.
When a guest has a complaint it is acted upon and corrected immediately. We attempt to portray our housing and farm amenities, views, etc. with total accuracy and without exaggeration. We strive for every guest to be able to rest and rejuvenate without interruption from us. Some of our guests seek us out for interaction about the farm activities and history, sometimes just to know and sometimes to share in the work. We love sharing the story of the founding of the farm, our efforts to conserve and nurture the forest, the joy of growing our own food, and the overall pleasure of living in these mountains. Sometimes guests arrive, close the curtains, and we never see them and that’s what we’re here for, too."
Best, the Evolve Team
