Trail Runner’s Retreat is a lovely, recently rejuvenated, townhome in the quiet, convenient and easily accessed Woods End neighborhood. It’s a short, easy walk or a trail runner’s dream path, to Canaan Valley’s National Wildlife Refuge where wildlife and running (or walking) trails abound. No worries, you don’t need to run anything to appreciate all the comforts this home has to offer. Enjoy WIFI, multiple TV’s, a charming fireplace, and well-equipped kitchen. Stargazing from the outdoor hot tub might very well become your favorite activity, even if you are a true trail runner. Your well-behaved 4-legged friend is welcome with a small pet fee (dogs only please). You are going to love this place…so run-or walk-on over!

Well kept dog friendly home.p

This was our second stay at this property. We came back because of the location (close to hiking trails, towns of Davis and Thomas and ski area) and because the owners have created a pet friendly environment. Nicely furnished and lots of extras. The holiday decorations were lovely. We plan to return hopefully this summer for a longer stay.

Relaxing ski getaway

The house was great! Nice little extras that most houses don’t provide like sugar, creamer pods and olive oil - all the things we forgot! How was nice and spacious and the hot tub was amazing!

Warm Cozy Mountain Getaway for two and four legs.

The house was perfect! We were two couples and we have two dogs. The house was clean, furished for everyone to have a comfortable seat, fully stocked, and such a treat as dog owners to walk in, see something so nice and then have doggie creature comforts too. Short walk to Timberline as well. Highly recommend this home!

Another great rental...

We did not bring our dog with us this time but I can see how it would be a perfect rental for those with dogs. The hot tub location is excellent - provides lots of privacy. Easy, short drive to Timberline. Owner provided coffee and related accompaniments and that was a nice touch. Excellent wifi and smart tvs. Would definitely request to rent this unit again! Can't think of anything that was a problem, not at all.

Relaxing time

It was a quiet nice area. The hot tub was our favorite and it was very private. The place was clean and very roomy. Definitely would stay here again.

labor day weekend in the mountains

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: house was very clean and well equipped with the necessities needed for comfort. location was less desirable because we did not have access to dolly sods. Dusty roads to and from were an issue with the need to get car-washes frequently. Was looking forward to have some time In the hot-tub, however the hot-tub was not able to be used because of the cover which was very heavy and the design of the deck area did not allow it to be removed and stored with much difficulty. Owner really has to get a new light weight cover. I voiced my complaint to the office staff when turning in the keys and she said she would send me a refund for the hot-tub fee since I was unable to use it. Our dog came back with a light case of fleas. our dog is a house dog and has been seen by Vet frequently and has never had fleas.

Canaan weekend getaway

Whether you enjoy outdoor adventures or just getting away from real life for a few days, you will find it at Canaan. Weigh 2 Cool is a great place to stay - centrally located in the valley, near hiking, biking, wilderness areas, both ski areas. Shopping and local restaurants are a short drive away. The unit is very well outfitted, is clean, has comfortable beds and seating, and has plenty of room to relax for a few days. The online description and pictures are very representative of what is in the unit. The Best of Canaan staff were very helpful and pleasant and I highly recommend them. Overall our time at Weigh 2 Cool was a great rental experience from start to finish.

Fabulous Family Fun

Trail Runner's Retreat was just as advertised! We arrived a little late, but were easily accommodated by the property management team. We always prefer to travel with our dogs, and this home was especially welcoming to the fur babies! The location can't be beat for skiing at Timberline, which we fully enjoyed! The hot tub was especially appreciated after the slopes We hope to visit again!!!

The house was just as advertised...fully equipped kitchen, hot tub was relaxing after a long day of skiing, and a short drive to Timberline. After 12 inches of snow it was a nice surprise to have the driveway and road plowed early the next morning. We look forward to coming back.

Lovely Home

We have stayed at many rentals over the years but this was a favorite! Great location for my trail running husband and our dog. Trails are a short walk from the house. There is also a nice fenced deck that we would have used more if the weather had been warmer. The house was incredibly clean and well organized. The fireplace starts with a flip of a switch and the hot tub was lovely with morning coffee or after a day on the trails. While it was just two of us this time it would be great for a family. We will definitely rent this property again.

Best hide a away!!!

My husband & I came for a get away in early November. The location was great for hiking in the area. The home was very clean and with comfy beds. Best feature was the private hot tub!! The home was spacious and bright. The host had maps of the local sights. The neighbhood was VERY quite. West Virginia is a hidden gem. We will be back!!

Great fall family getaway!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Trail Runner's Retreat was perfect for our family get-away. The rental goes above and beyond in the'dog-friendly' category. The hot tub was great after long days on the trails even on cold nights. The kitchen is well-equipped and the provided coffee was an unexpected but appreciated perk!The home is in a great location to enjoy walks on the forest roads and the trails without getting in the car.Loved that it had a mud room and laundry.This was our second trip to the area and we returned to some favorites... Douglas Falls, Black Water Falls, Bear Rocks Preserve, Moon Rocks and they did not disappoint. We also hiked to view Lion's Head in Dolly Sods, Red Runs Falls, Kennedy Falls, and visited Bald Knob, Seneca Rocks and more.We enjoyed meals from Riverfront Wood-Fired Pizza, Canaan BBQ, and especially Sirianni's and enjoyed a couple of pints at Stumptown Ales and Mountain State Brewing as well as pastries from Tip Top.If we return to the area in the future, we would hope to book Trail Runner's Retreat again!
