Casa Tonali-My peaceful place
We have gone to Chacala and stayed in Casa Tonali 2 years in a row now. Each time we have had Maria cook our dinners for us and bring them to the house! Food is amazing! Karla the person who schedules everything is wonderful and helpful. Beautiful house overlooking the ocean, the sound of the waves are so soothing and relaxing. I feel so safe there as the house it in a community with 24 hour gaurds at front at the huge locked gate. The private beach for the housing community is a piece of heaven. There has never been more than 4 groups of people on the beach when we have been there. If you are looking to relax and have some down time this place is amazing.
Casa Tonali was exactly what we were looking, beautiful house in a great location We'll be back!
Relax in Paradise
We recently spent 5 nights at Casa Tonali. This was our second year and we hope to return next year. We enjoyed the spectacular views and sleeping to the sound of waves. The house has everything you need for a luxury vacation. The private pool is wonderful (although a little cool in February). We spent most of our time relaxing under the palapa or down by the water. The private beach (Chacalita) is wonderful. Beautiful sand and very few people. It felt like our own private beach. Karla responded to every request / question and helped facilitate the meal preparation. We had each dinner delivered - wonderful food and preparation - very reasonable. Definitely a MUST. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.
Peaceful oceanfront house - whales, birds, fish and geckos
My family and I rented this place in mid-November. My research showed that would be a good time because the weather was starting to be less hot (75 to 85 degrees) and because it would be less busy / more peaceful. It was perfect. My wife and kids had an amazing time on the private beach. The small bay is very protected and we all felt safe swimming in the easy surf. My oldest boy and I played frisbee and kicked the ball around on the sand. My favorite part was just hanging out by the pool in the backyard overlooking the ocean. That was simple but incredibly cool. The house it set up nicely for that too - from the kitchen you can see the pool and ocean and the living room and the backyard. That makes relaxing and having the kids doable. We enjoyed cooking once we figured out where to buy food and things (some things are available in the town). I'd recommend stopping by Costco on the way here or Mega (a large grocery store) just to make it easy. We ordered dinner in to be delivered one night by Choc Mole a local restaurant and I would do that again in a heartbeat. We also had the fish Filet from Chico's Restaurant on the beach - the bones where cut out and the barbecued the filets on wood and then added octopus and shrimp and cheese to the top before serving it. My kids even picked out the fish from their cooler before they cooked it. The staff was lovely and the house incredible. We plan to come back!
Hot but cool!
I stayed at Casa Tonali in the their "off-season." I put that is quotes because it was a very cool time to be there! The privacy was amazing - we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves! Several nights we had lightning storms that we watched from the house. The house is on the water with sweeping views of the ocean horizon. I loved just sitting there looking out at the sea and listening to the surf. It was more humid than times when I've been in Mexico - say for the "high season" but the pool really helped and we used AC at night. We also got an amazing deal at this time. It was like staying in a 5-star resort (with a house) by ourselves for the price that even a teacher can afford. This sleepy beach town and the gated community with its own private beach was just the coolest thing ever. I think we will go back every year. Next time we are bringing the kids too!
My husband and I stayed here celebrating our belated anniversary back in April. The pictures don't do the house justice as it's way more fabulous in person. We slept with the windows open every night to get to ocean breeze and hear the sound of the waves. The staff was great and very respectful of our time and space. The best part of the staff was the private chef option. OMG her cooking was fantastic. We had arranged with the proprietor to have dinner prepared our first night; shrimp chili relleno. WOW it was so good and so fresh. We keep trying to find somewhere back at home to duplicate this meal, but haven't found anywhere yet. I also have to mention how great the proprietor, Carla was. My husband and I don't speak Spanish and she really helped us navigate around the charming town and suggested some great local areas to check out. Outside of the house there is a great private beach with Community Club that had a large pool and a small restaurant. The private beach was gorgeous and very private. We had such a wonderful time here and look forward to returning someday.
Debbie, thank you so much for the wonderful review. It was a pleasure getting to know you and Brian better and I hope you are able to return soon.
