Beautiful area and a very well-kept cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a great long weekend at this historic cabin. It is amazing to think that this comfortable and well accommodated cabin was originally built one year before the civil war began! There is a great fire pit and handmade bench swing in the yard, perfect for roasting marshmallows and sipping hot cocoa on a chilly night. We recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a great central place for all of the local hiking trails, waterfalls, mountain biking, and craft breweries in the area.

Great time!!

  • 5 of 5

With 4 adults and one toddler, we couldn't go wrong with this cabin. Lots of room, very clean, and everything provided, including bedding, pillows, towels, dishes and silverware in the kitchen, coffee pot, toaster, microwave, stove, washer/dryer - what more could you ask for?!! We all enjoyed our time here, especially sitting on the front porch in the rocking chairs each morning with a cup of coffee. Beautiful, scenic area, and what neighbors are within shouting distance were never seen. We enjoyed smores over the fire pit, the comfy beds, and every minute we were there. We look forward to being able to stay here again next year, if everything works out. Can't wait!!

The only thing I missed was there was no wi-fi. I never took the computer out of the van - there was no point. However, with everything to do, I think I was more relaxed, not dealing with the computer. It was like prior to the internet....we concentrated on our lives, and being a family, instead of worrying about emails and other things online. While I really would have liked wi-fi, I think it was probably a good thing to go without for a week! :-)

Original Cabin in the Smokies

  • 3 of 5

The cabin was very clean and the first floor was wonderful. Cabin advertises sleeps 6. That is not true. There are 2 beds, an egg crate topper, and a reclining sofa. Also there are no vents for the air conditioning upstairs. It was in the upper 88s during our stay and very warm even at night. Mr. Conway was very nice and the cabin was well maintained. It was not what we were looking for.
