About this property
Westover Bed and Breakfasts
Our 3 acre property is only a 20min. walk from Ganges. We nestled this clean and quaint cabin in its own cedar grove, separate from the main house. Your cabin for two has beautiful natural lighting with pine ceiling, cork floor and a high bed overstuffed with feathers and crisp white linens. Cedar boardwalks to the sweetest no-flush toilet in its own building. Outdoor claw foot tub and wash basin.
Since COVID I have stopped delivering hot breakfast. I do however, leave my organic granola, muffins, fruit, yogurt and local coffee for you to enjoy in the mornings. Based on people's varied diets, I leave what I think should last for a two day stay. If you feel that you'd like more breakfast items to supplement for day two, please let me know.

Our stay at westover BNB was dreamlike! The cabin is rustic and surrounded by wilderness which makes for a beautiful setting. The outdoor tub and shower are such a great addition that we enjoyed a lot! The outhouse took some getting used to while we adjusted to the spiders/bugs (unavoidable when in nature) but after a day it was completely fine! Tara was a caring and responsive host. The only small inconvenience is the lack of service and really unreliable internet. Otherwise, everything from the breakfasts we received to the general atmosphere of the property was perfect! I would definitely stay again.
My partner and I loved our stay here! The privacy and location was amazing, Tara left delicious granola for us for breakfast and we loved that our dogs were able to join us.
I can not imagine a better host than Tara, or a more restful place to stay that aligns with my values & needs. The location was convenient to everything & the bed was really comfy. I loved being there.
Cute cozy cottage! Very relaxing weekend and was everything we expected and more. Fulfilled our quick little getaway expectations. Will be returning for sure. Thank you Tara!
Had a lovely stay here for our anniversary! Our host Tara was so kind and gave us plenty of privacy, I really felt like we had a private oasis to ourselves. Everything was clean and so thoughtfully decorated and supplied. The breakfast was a great plus too!!
Lovely rustic cabin, yummy breakfast items and coffee. Be prepared for mosquitoes! Not a 1 bedroom though, a one room only with very little space for preparing food. Comfy bed and great outdoor shower and tub. Overall we enjoyed our stay and Tara was very helpful getting the wifi to work and provided ice whenever needed.
I had a wonderful stay! Tara was such a lovely, accommodating, and helpful host from start to finish. The property was perfect for my needs; tucked away in nature and a short drive to some beautiful hiking trails. The outside bathtub was an absolute treat and the highlight of my evenings. Plus, the delicious breakfast each morning was the perfect way to start the day. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking to escape to nature and find some true tranquility!
The cabin is absolutely adorable and super convenient; just a 5-minute trip from the ferry terminal. The host was lovely and really helpful, and the space itself felt warm and cozy, with a space heater & a wood stove. Tara also left out books and colouring supplies, which was such a nice touch. Breakfast (homemade muffins, yogurt, granola, etc.) was delicious. We also loved that our puppy could come along with us!
I would NEVER knowingly stay where I have to use an “outhouse”! No soap in outhouse. Very little cell service on Salt Spring Island; it took an hour to discover that the cabin was located BEHIND the host’s house down an unmarked back lane. There was no microwave just a BBQ. All water was outside. Thick bush meant lots of mosquitoes. Could not get gas fireplace to work. It was however very private and close to town. Windows were clean. Breakfast granola was scrumptious.
A beautiful spot tucked away in the woods with the kindest host.

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
Overall, my impressions were as follows: Positives: The host is extremely responsive, and always replied to me within minutes. There appeared to be a genuine intention to facilitate our stay. Negatives: Cleanliness: The bathtub/shower space was unusable; as it was full of dirt and twigs. The space had seemingly never been deep cleaned, as the blinds and window coverings were dirty/greasy, and the corners of the room were caked with dirt, with a layer of dust and stains on many items. The white sheets appeared and felt clean. The hand towel was soaking wet when we arrived. There was no soap in the bathroom, and no garbage bag in the garbage. We used our own garbage bag. Privacy: window coverings did not fully cover the windows, there is a window in the bathroom which has no privacy screen, and there is no privacy screen for the outdoor bath/shower Environment: the outdoor toilet smells horrible and it frequently wafts into the space, causing the whole place to smell like an outhouse Location: Great! Close to things if you have a car. However, there is no cell service and the wifi was down for 50% of our stay, which the host did resolve.

The tub is partial to debris given it is outside and in 12 years have never had a review suggesting my cabin is as dirty as you’ve suggested.
Our whimsical stay at this little cabin in the woods was just what we needed after a busy summer. Each morning we were greeted by the frogs and the lush scents of the forest. On our second night we were lulled to sleep by the pitter patter of the raindrops. Overall a peaceful getaway.
We absolutely loved Tara's cabin in the forest! It was incredibly relaxing and the outdoor tub was such a nice touch. We had such a peaceful time and absolutely loved everything. Tara was super friendly and helpful and gave us great local recommendations. I highly recommend!!

Wonderful, Mandy! Thank you so much for your kind words and friendly ways:). All the very best to you.
This was exactly what we needed after a week of camping on our road trip - this place is so lovely, from the cabin itself (inside and out), to the big trees surrounding it, the pathway through the forest, the delicious breakfast and coffee, and of course the most relaxing bath/shower outside. Tara was so welcoming and was helpful highlighting spots around the island. Would highly recommend and we hope to visit again soon!
we had a beautiful long weekend at tara’s property, she was so welcoming and her space was so beautiful. we had such a relaxing and delightful time, thanks tara!

About the host
Hosted by Tara Hollingsworth
I have been renting our cabin for thirteen years and before that it had been used as a wellness studio and guest house. I enjoy my island life and have been living on Salt Spring for 15 years. When I am not busy hosting, I can be found walking my dog in the back property which gives me access to the harbor. Our home was built by my husband who works as a full-time teacher.
Why they chose this property
Bullock Creek Road is a collection of 3-acre homes tucked in a wooded pocket on the route from Long Harbor ferry terminal and only a 20 minute walk to Ganges. Our neighbors are friendly and quiet.
What makes this property unique
We will greet you upon arrival, yet understand the value of complete privacy to come and go as you wish. If you need the scoop on the local happenings or just to be pointed in the right direction, I (a longtime islander) am happy to be your number one connection!
