Enjoyed our stay in the "lodge"! Very unique place in a beautiful wooded setting. Used this as our home base for exploring the North Cascades and the Anacortes area. Also went up the coast from here to Bellingham. Nice central location for what we wanted to do. Owners were great. Gave us our privacy, but were nearby for questions. Appreciated all that the property had to offer. Thanks Nancy!

Nature's Beauty and Serenity..
Beautiful lodge and surrounding area.. I especially liked the tall hemlock tree growing to of the old cedar surrounded by a green meadow. .The lodge was well-furnished and the beds were comfortable. Nancy, the owner, was very pleasant and it was enjoyable chatting with her. She made wifi accessible but at times iPhone and on-line reception was a bit iffy. Our stay was peaceful and relaxing and enjoyable.

Quiet Rural Location
We stayed over Labor Day weekend 2018. We were traveling with our adult children and a 1 year old. We have a daughter who lives in the area, and we were there to surprise her. We had a nice visit and really enjoyed the large yard and beautiful surroundings. Evenings were spent playing frisbee or ball in the yard. Everything we needed was there. Nancy and her family are very nice. The dog is very friendly and enjoyed us in the yard as much as we enjoyed him.

Awesome family trip!
This is a cute little cottage that is very comfortable and the land-lady is very hospitable and accommodating. My children loved all the green grass, surrounding forest, and doggies to play with! The owners live on-site but they are kind and allowed us our privacy -- even though I loved chatting with her and her dear family when they were around. Accommodations were comfortable, clean, and well-thought-out (like fold-out dining table and extra chairs available for a large group but easy to put away for more room; plenty of towels, blankets, and pillows; plenty of appliances and kitchenware). It was comfortable for our family of 6 and we even had my in-laws over for dinner. Thanks again Nancy~

Perfect for a family reunion!
Spent 3 nights at Nancy's wonderful hideaway at the end of July 2016. We were warmly greeted by Nancy, her son and their playful dog. The property was just what we need to call home base as we attended a nearby family reunion. The six adults were able to unwind after long days of extended family reunion time in the lodge's family room. Sleeping arrangements easily accommodated both married and single members of my family. We did not prepare meals at the lodge, but we could have easily, since the kitchen was nicely appointed. The property was nicely maintained and had an ample supply of towels. The lodge is located south of Bellingham, and although off the beaten path, I-5 is easily accessible. We would definitely re-book this lodge!

We were fairly disappointed with this rental. Once we arrived, we found out that a family lives on the first floor of the house. The owners live on the main floor with a connecting door to the "guest house rental", the "housekeeper" lives in her section at the opposite end of the main floor and there are 2 more renters on the back of the property through a gate. We felt like we rented an apartment! The stairs were a tripping hazard as was the first floor bathroom with a 14 inch step up platform. The kitchen light was only accessible via a plug in cord which I was barely able to reach! We would not rent this place again and were disappointed to say the least.

Rustic, quiet place to relax!
This cabin has a rustic European vibe. The rooms are upstairs and each have a nice deck outside of them. The area is quiet and away from the beaten path. The owner is very sweet and felt like a family member before we left. It is important to note that this is a rustic, two story cabin and it is not meant for those who can’t climb stairs. The downstairs bathroom has a large step up as well. It was fine for all of us, except one senior who did fine with a helpful hand. There are two bathrooms and you can have both showers going at the same time and still have hot water. Make sure you check that the electric water heater is clicked on because hot water is on demand and we didn’t read the instructions and got cold showers on the first day! Lol! Another thing to mention is the gravel road. The county road ends and you have a mile of gravel, so don’t think you are lost! Keep going! We didn’t check out Bow, but heard it was a cute town. We had a wedding to attend 30 minutes away in Mount Vernon. If you want a very rustic, quiet place that can sleep up to 10 comfortably (pullout couch bed, two queen beds, 4 twin beds), this is the place for you!!

Comforts of home, stunning property, beyond gracious hosts.
Wow, this place really felt like our own home in the gorgeous forestry of Western Washington!
Upon arrival for my partner and I's short, mid week 30th birthday dinner celebration, we were given a warm greeting by all of our hosts - Nancy, Tim, Tommy 'two-tone', and of course Diesel and Ruby. I immediately started visiting with Jeanette, the family's tenant in another part of the home and my partner toured our rental with Nancy. It was easy to see that this would be a great experience with some very laid back people.
The lodge is designed very well with a big open floor plan on the main floor and tons of room for preparing food for my birthday guests that would be attending the next night. The decor is that of a lodge - reminds me of 'The Great Outdoors', you know the one with John Candy! I specifically love all the windows which make for a view everywhere you look and also the large river rock that is exposed along the outer walls. I have to say I was happy to see that this space was fully stocked with all the amenities of home, and what a BIG space! Very comfortable for a big family.
On the day of the party, I was kind of worried about all the parking we would need because it is RARE TO FIND A VRBO THAT IS THIS GRACIOUS WITH PARTIES AND FOR THAT I AM BEYOND GRATEFUL! Luckily quite a few did carpool, but that didn't stop a couple of cars from parking in the wrong area that got one car stuck in the mud! After all, our hosts asked us to repair the grass that had been lifted and we were so thankful for that. I was very concerned about damaging anything so I am happy to know the hosts are not unreasonable and saw that it was an honest mistake! Next time I'd probably bring signage and block that spot off to avoid the issue.
The property is AMAZING. Huge yards connecting where we played Bocce and Croquet. The yard is also very well maintained. Very nice space towards the back of the property with lots of sun exposure and a large fire pit area with 2 picnic tables. Hosts provided so much it was incredible. Also there is an outdoor wood fire sauna which we didn't get the chance to use but we will next time we rent for sure!
I wish I could write more about the details to show other people that this is the place to rent! Bottom line, I couldn't ask for more from a rental. I literally have never seen a rental listing allow what these people allow. For this reason and others, I WILL come back. Maybe a yearly birthday trip! So much thanks to our hosts!

Andrew,
We are so happy to meet you and Ryan and to help make your 30th birthday special. Your family and friends are so nice. No worries about the parking. I should of warned you of the wet spots. Grass will grow back!! Would love to host you and your friends and family in the future. Thank you for all of your kind words in your review. Nancy
Great value! Beautiful property, cozy cabin, nice amenities and conveniently located to everything. It was the perfect gathering place for friends and family celebrating our daughter’s graduation from WWU! We highly recommend this rental!

Disappointing cabin in the woods
This listing was not accurately advertised. We felt that there was a significant gap between what we were led to expect by the pictures and listing, and what we found when we arrived. It was clear that the house had not been cleaned properly in some time. We also felt it was quite overpriced, considering the price we paid per night and the amount we paid in service and cleaning fees almost doubled the cost per night. The owner on site was lovely and great to communicate with, though. In short - this property was too expensive and the photos make it look more beautiful than it is.

Pleasant Getaway in the country
The hostess was pleasant and helpful. The setting is lovely and quiet. There are various people on the property at different times but they were friendly and not obtrusive. The unit is large enough for 6 and a few more after Covid.
The upstairs restroom could use some attention but otherwise everything was just right for our stay.
I booked through VRBO and was surprised that the vacation rental was actually under Evolve. This was disconcerting since we had to cancel the first reservation due to covid and the above 2 organizations have different cancellation policies. It was hard to straighten it out because of Covid. I think this should be fixed.
We as the wedding family enjoyed our stay at our cabin to rest before & after the wedding. The weekend was in a beautiful setting w great hospitality from our contact.
We had a lovely time in Bow over spring break. We met our daughter who goes to school at WWU for a few days, and Bow was perfect place to stage our trips to Port Townsend and Orcas Island ferry trips. Nancy was a gracious host who met us to give us some short details on house and heating, but otherwise was not in sight the entire stay.
Great host, but know that there are many people on site that live here. Friendly and we enjoyed hanging out and beds enough for a women’s weekend away!
My partner and I had a great time here - we're from Seattle so it was a relaxing way to spend the weekend. The folks and their son who own the property (and next door at a separate unit) are friendly, jovial, and gladly assist with anything you need.
Thanks!

As advertised. (Read between the lines!)
I know it looks odd to rate all of the questions on a review as OK, but then an overall rating of Good.
This "interesting" add-on to a residential compound is about the only place anywhere at this value, where everyone can have their own bed. There are 8, plus the couch. And it's awesome to have so much space for 7 or 8 people to lounge about - plenty of sitting and counter space.
For those of us who happen to live out in the woods off the beaten path, it felt fine, but I can see where it might feel a little off to folks who aren't used to that. Most folks wouldn't notice the odd construction, but for the few of us close to the building trade, we got a bit of entertainment out of some of the choices. (Other reviews assured everyone that the electrical is all to code)
We might have overlooked much of the funkiness, if it weren't for the first impression of turning on the kitchen oven right away, to the house filling up with chemical smell. We realized that someone had placed a sheet of foil in the bottom of the oven, over the top of a big sign that reads Do Not Use Foil. We debated mentioning this, but decided it's important enough that perhaps someone else might avoid the same thing in another situation. (It definitely won't happen at this location again!)
Our birding group was actually very comfortable for our two nights, and the hosts were very kind and welcoming, and responsive. The place is well outfitted for all the cooking we did - once the oven aired out!
There is definitely a feeling of being in the middle of someone's yard - I wouldn't want to spend time outdoors there. But for a winter stay, it was fine for what we were doing.
There could be more signage. For our 2nd carload that arrived ahead of the main renter, they were unsure where to park, where the entrance was, and which was actually the house. They were hesitant to explore too far, as the first place they parked, there were signs which were clearly less than welcoming!
We still would recommend this place for the right people!
