Usted juraría que el Capitán John es una casa frente al mar por sus espectaculares vistas, que se extienden sobre los pinos oscuros al viento. Great place for a family reunion!

This house was well appointed to accommodate our group. We loved that the beach access was right across the street! We had a wonderful time here!

Family gathering

Our group ranging from 4 to 75 enjoyed our stay. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out and enjoy ourselves!

Great stay. Should have stayed longer.

Besides the dinner table being totally different, it was a great location. Cell service in Lincoln City is ify at best. Not sure what changes have been made since my last stay.

This was a great place to stay. The only part to watch is the steps up to the front door, they are marked and you can see them well going up, but can't see the markings going down and they are uneven. Overall it was great!!!

Great house for family reunion

We had 14 family members stay for 4 nights. The location and house were great. The house was clean and there was plenty of room for all of us. The only complaint was all of the stairs, but we knew this going in as the house is three stories. The view from the living areas/deck is fabulous and beach access is a short walk. The listing states there are three full bathrooms, but there are actually four. That was a nice surprise. Would definitely stay here again.

End of September - 2023

The house was clean, there were plenty of dishes and pots and pans in the kitchen. Plenty of towels. Location was great. One suggestion: The pictures online showed the eating tables surrounded by wooden chairs. When we arrived, they has obviously been replaced by metal chairs. These metal chairs were not very comfortable especially as one of our main entertainments was playing cards and games around the table. Luckily we found the previous wooden chairs in the garage and brought up enough for all of us - MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE! Might be a good idea to keep those more comfortable chairs around.

Great location and a lot of space

Overall we had a really good time at this property, but our family is really easy going. There’s some stuff that didn’t bother us, but we think might bother others. Pros: Location - super close to main area of town (walkable) but removed enough it’s calm and quiet. Beach access - directly across the street, perfect considering it isn’t a “on the beach” home. The view - amazing view and awesome deck. Kitchen - the kitchen is the one renovated place in the house and it is really nice/functional. A lot of space in living area - top floor has two sections of living room with 3 couches, 3 comfy chairs, two large kitchen tables - was perfect for our large family, we never ran out of chairs or places for people to eat, couches are super comfy with reclining abilities. Great number of beds, we didn’t even need all of them. Second fridge in garage (we didn’t need this, but thought it was great to have for potential large groups). Ample spices, cooking/eating utensils, dishes in the kitchen. Cons - A lot of mold throughout the house, mostly concentrated in the bathrooms. You can see they’ve tried to repair some mold/mildew/dry rot in certain areas but it hasn’t taken care of the problem. Downstairs bathroom smelled of urine, so much so it permeated that entire downstairs bedroom - we kept bathroom window open & bathroom door closed to keep the smell out of the bedroom as best as possible. Some of the recliners are slightly broken so are hard to “close”. Binder for house didn’t have checkout procedures, which seemed odd. Dishwasher wouldn’t clean about 50% of dishes unless they were spotless before they went in - multiple coffee mugs were dirty when we got there, and it became obvious why once we used the dishwasher. Struggled to clean bowls and mugs on top shelf - may be possible it needs some maintenance. Lower rack stuff always came out clean. White coffee machine is one where you cannot take the pot off the burner until the entire pot is brewed and done dripping - learned this the hard way ;). Aside from the kitchen the house is very dated, but it’s 100% functional. We had a great time! We felt like it was a great house, but as mentioned if you’re picky about things there could be a problem.

Great location and large house needing new carpet

We loved the location of this house and all the spacious area especially the top floor where the large kitchen area and the ocean-view balcony resides. The top floor was recently remodeled, but the lower floors carpet really need to be cleaned or replaced with laminate. Meredith Lodging staff were great and very responsive. If the carpet is upgraded, this house would be a five star stay. We enjoyed our stay nonetheless and loved the Road’s End area.

Clean and close to the beach.

Close enough to the beach. All was as explained. Would stay here again. Yes some of the decor is a bit out dated, but we aren't fancy, so who cares? Kitchen looks updated. Hot water to clean 17 people and laundry all day every day! Enough fridge and freezer space in kitchen and garage to keep our breakfast and lunch supplies cold.

We had a good time, the 5 children enjoyed their space in the large home. Everything was clean.

Check in and check out was easy. It was nice that management check with us to see how our stay was going. The TV was not working but someone came over right away. It was a cord that had fallen off. It was quite easy and everything worked good. We enjoyed it easy access to the beach. We will definitely be renting from Meredith again

Beautiful Views- close to beach

This home was perfect for our vacation. We had 7 adults and 9 children (1-13). We enjoy vacationing as a three generation family and this was our first since Covid began. The open living space, dining and kitchen are awesome. This is an older home and is not fancy or luxurious but rather functional and comfortable. There are lots of stairs with fairly wide rails so be prepared to watch young children. We brought and used baby gates as necessary. The walk to the beach was short. Everyone was sad to leave.

Family vacation in July 2020

The location and view were excellent. The house definitely needed some TLC. Stove had a burner that didn't work and the oven was not heating completely. Rugs were in need of cleaning. Stains were easily visible on carpeted areas, there was dust and cobwebs and fingerprints on electrical switch outlets and around the switches on the walls. We found items left under beds such as opened container of diaper wipes. There was only one wash cloth and 6 towels, definitely not enough for 16 people. I left a message with Meredith about the lack of towels, washcloths, toilet paper, paper towels, and garbage bags and items were never delivered to the house. A call was returned once with no follow through to solve the issues. Only communication from Meredith Lodging was when I reached out to them about check in details and directions. Never was contacted by the owner. This home could be a wonderful place, but needs some upkeep. Missing curtains, broken window blinds, no grass in the yard (wood mulch for the yard, instead of grass). The kitchen and dining areas had some sort of patching done on the ceiling, but it had left areas still needing repair. We did quite a bit of self cleaning when we got there and prior to check out. Would love to stay here again if repairs and cleaning were completed.

Older property needing some TLC, but in a great location, comfortable, clean, and well furnished. Great living spaces with lots of room for all. We will return again.

Great but.......

The only problem we had was the lack of outdoor lighting and lack of window curtains . We passed by the house when we first arrived because we couldn’t see the address. We enjoyed staying in the Captain Johns house . It was great experience and I do believe we hope to stay there again in the future. Thank You for allowing us to rent it.

Great Location!

Wonderful view, location and beach access. Great deck! Good kitchen, dining and gathering area. Slept 16 comfortably. Home needs considerable updates and yard maintenance could be improved.

Family vaca

Had a large group, everyone had plenty of room. We really enjoyed the beach, just across the street. The kitchen was stocked. I will definitely book this one again. Thank you.

Great house for a large group

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were a group of eleven scrapbooker's and this house fit our needs completely. Plenty of room for extra tables. The dining room table had room for six scrapbooker's and all our extra stuff. We set up three additional tables with no problem. Plenty of beds no one had to sleep on top bunks. Great kitchen space with lots of dishes.
