About Reggie GIllespie
Karen and Bill love their Bass Lake getaway and decided to share the cabin and property. 'We both grew with summer time cabins, and we just fell in love with this cabin. The lake is so beautiful, clean, and deep. We also enjoy campfires and entertaining our family and friends. We know you will enjoy our cabin, as much as we do!'
Reggie GIllespie purchased this Cabin in 1998
Why Reggie GIllespie chose New Richmond
In the 1970's, the original owner, started building his dream log cabin. He was a busy lawyer during the week and on weekends; the Catholic lawyer 'paid penance' by building. In the 90's when he finally completed his dream, he was ready to retire and move South. My brother, Bart, found his dream cabin, and we all felt the warmth and beauty of this lovely place. Welcome to our beautiful dream log cabin, and we hope you will make your own wonderful memories!
What makes this Cabin unique
Bass lake is close to the cities and very clean. The hand built log cabin is unique and authentic. The convenience of the location is ideal, within 45 minutes from the Twin Cities. St. Croix Valley offers many sight seeing delights, shopping and dining are abundant. This cabin is within 10-15 minutes from Stillwater and Hudson. Five major golf courses are with 10-15 minutes, and the Willow River State Park is at our back door. The Apple River for water tubing is a fun filled occasion and within 15 minutes. For the winter folks, the Afton Alps is nearby, sno-tubing at the Badlands, and Trollhaugen ski resort are with 15-30 minutes. There is a grill for barbeques, and a camp fire pit for bonfires by the lake.

A cozy cabin with great views.
We loved staying at this cabin. The view of the lake is amazing, especially with the beautiful sunsets. The cabin is cozy and roomy and met all of our needs. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. Not to mention the owners are wonderful people and are very helpful.
Rustic lake cabin
Clean, rustic, lakefront log cabin. Excellent service. Lake was gorgeous, water clean and warm in early August. Some features of the cabin were a bit dated (appliances, no air conditioning), but these did not detract from our experience. No cable television which for us was a big plus (forced teenagers to get outside). Internet service worked well. A small hot tub was nice in evenings, which were nice and cool. Overall, highly recommended.
Amazing Place, A Must Do!!!!
We had 10 family members stay at the cabin. It was spacious and provided adequate space for us all. It provided the look and feel of rustic living with modern capabilities. The amenities were amazing and the owners were great to deal with. We are already trying to identify when we can plan our next trip there and the other family members are also talking about coming up on their own at times. I recommend renting the pontoon boat, the lake is great for just leisurely boating around and stopping off for swimming or fishing.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!!!!!
Father's Day weekend was a hit with lots of time on the lake! Pontoon Boat is key.
Beautiful Cabin, Lots of Character Both Inside and Out!
We had a great time at the cabin! House has all the necessities and a lot of amenities if you forgot to pack anything. The lake was quiet and peaceful, and the surrounding area has a lot to offer. We went to a few breweries, hiked to the AWESOME waterfall at Willow River State Park (waterfall is seriously underrated), and enjoyed the pontoon. One thing to note, we were charged $50 to use the pontoon, which is fair, but was unclear in the description. Otherwise, we had a very relaxing time in this cabin full of character!
We loved the location; close to the Twin Cities and within a 30 minute drive for all who spent time with us at the Nature Lover's Cabin Retreat.
The space was just right for our 5 occupants and 2 visitors; the weather did not cooperate by raining during our entire stay and we were very comfy whiling away the hours inside the cabin. We entertained ourselves with fine food and beverages, games and cards, chic flik marathon and lots of laughter.
We would love the opportunity to return and enjoy the lake activities.
