Lovely guest cottage next to a refreshing saltwater pool. The bed was very comfortable, the setting was perfect with wonderful pool, hot tub on golf course. Close to the historic Benbow Hotel & restaurant on the river.
The in-law 's unit has everything you need to stay cozy and warm. The bed was very comfy.

We chose this place partly because it said it had a kitchen with a refrigerator freezer. It turns out there was a mini fridge outside and no kitchen area in which to heat or prepare food or wash dishes. The outside area was under a significant state of disrepair and lack of care. The pool is green and likely toxic.

As clearly stated in the listing, the studio does not include a full kitchen. Standard amenities provided are a BBQ, mini fridge, and coffee maker. When you shared that you needed additional space, I was happy to extend access to the main house kitchen as a courtesy, along with complimentary use of the hot tub.
Guest reviews are an important part of the vacation rental community and play a meaningful role in supporting small hosts and local businesses. For that reason, accuracy and alignment with the listing details are essential, as reviews can significantly impact a host’s livelihood.
I always aim to be accommodating while remaining transparent about what is included, and I appreciate guests who review the listing details prior to booking. I wish you well in your future travels.
The property has the potential to be a very nice older house. Outside is in disrepair. Pool is terrible, bbq have mold and mildew, inside was ok except for the kitchen where countertops, oven and small appliances were dirty. Trash was left in both the trash and recycle which stunk. There was exposed wires in the ceiling at the dining room light which probably isn’t safe and not to code. I was allowed to check in early which I did by 1/2 hour at 3:30 with checkin being later than any hotel and other vrbo ‘s I have stayed. Appreciated being allowed to.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. I appreciate guests who communicate thoughtfully, as this home is professionally managed with great care and pride.
The pool is seasonally closed during the winter months, as clearly noted, and is fully serviced and immaculate for spring and summer guests. I personally visited the property the day prior to your arrival to prepare it for your Thanksgiving stay and to ensure it was welcoming and comfortable- which explains the trash in the can. I was excited that you weee going to have the full chefs kitchen to prepare you Thanksgiving meal
I encourage guests to reach out immediately upon check-in with any questions or concerns so that I can address them promptly. Open communication allows me to provide the level of service my guests consistently appreciate and expect.
This is a well-maintained, mid-century home, full of amenities, that is loved by many returning guests who value its character, cleanliness, and thoughtful stewardship. I strive to offer a high-quality experience and warmly welcome guests who appreciate and care for the home as if it were their own.
We were only here for one night and the weather was too chilly to take a dip in the pool. Parking was close to the guest house/pool. Nicely decorated but it’s small. Fortunately lots of outdoor space! Bed was very comfortable. Nice towels and many toiletries provided. Perfect location if you are looking to tour the Redwoods. Two things that kept me from giving 5 star rating were: there was old coffee(how old?) in the pot and the refrigerator is located outside of the unit and it wasn’t clean.

Place on the hillside
For the price we paid we could’ve stayed at a very nice hotel. There were spiderwebs in every corner of our room. The whole place needs attention. The large trash cans outside had not been emptied for who knows how long. The large fridge and freezer in the breezeway has rotten food in it. The mirrored cabinet in our bathroom had expired toiletries in it from over 10 years ago. This could be a beautiful place to stay, but nobody’s taking care of it. The best thing about it was that it was very quiet.

Hello Therese, thank you for your input. I just spent 2 weeks staying in the guesthouse- I cannot say enough about owners becoming guests in their own spaces! It was awesome. I addressed your issues, but didn’t see the spiderwebs. I thought that the space was quiet, the temperpedic bed was a dream, I found the jets to the awesome bathtub (which had honestly been a mystery to me before) I found the coffee station was awesome (I just rolled over and turned it on) the tv was a great size for the space, and the shampoo provided for the guests in the shower was new (I did see my “Boss lady” soap, and yes it is old, but I thought it was cute. Clearly it’s not for use but rather a decorative surprise. There are plenty of new gorgeous bath products within eyesite- lavender/orange hand soap, Wednesday brand smoother shampoo and conditioner and epsome salts for the tub! I thought it was great. I’m sorry that you didn’t communicate with me during your stay and chose to leave a subpar review when all I want is my guests to be happy. I loved spending two weeks in my little guesthouse. I will be doing this with all of my properties!
