About this property

A very special condominium just minutes from Cruz Bay!

El Nido is our home away from home, and we love the time we get to spend here when we can. With cathedral ceilings throughout and very tastefully decorated with lots of teak furniture and original artwork, El Nido is the definition of a relaxed stay on St. John. A fully stocked kitchen with new appliances and everything you'll need for your stay is here. One large bedroom with air conditioning allows for two adults to live comfortably. Being on the third floor allows for gorgeous views of the Caribbean Sea and Little St. James and Pillsbury Sound. The Caneel Bay trail is literally steps away which connects to the National Park trail system and will take you to Cruz Bay, the north shore beaches and all of the National Park trails.
We know you'll enjoy staying here as much as we do!

This artistic and well decorated Caribbean condo became our home away from home immediately! Just 5-10 minutes up the hill from Cruz Bay center, it has great views of town and other islands. The deck was a perfect spot for meals and relaxation, and the grounds were charming with lush plants and a nice pool. A comfortable bed and quiet atmosphere topped it off, and we can't wait to return!

So pleased - it was perfect. Check in a breeze, we wanted for nothing. The views, pool, cool breezes in the evening, beach chairs, floaties, cooler and very easy access with parking - my only disappointment.... I couldn't stay longer ;) I look forward to returning.

lovely slice of paradise

What a slice of paradise! The condo was conveniently located, very clean, well set up and well apportioned with utensils/pots/pans/dishes/etc, sheets and towels, AC in bedroom, lovely back deck with comfy furniture for eating and lounging, nice pool, and amazing views. Both the owner and the property manager responded within MINUTES to any questions or concerns, including just requests for recommendations. This was easily the nicest Vrbo place we’ve stayed at (out of 3) with the most responsive owner and manager.

Convenient, comfortable condo with spectacular view

The condo had everything we needed for a great home base as we explored the island. We loved relaxing on the porch in the mornings and at sunset.

Great little property near downtown

This is a great place to stay without all the noise and bustle of staying directly downtown. Just a 3 minute drive into town. The condo is nicely appointed and recently renovated. Brand new porch with great sunset views and twinkling St. Thomas off in the distance. Best view in the entire complex.

Patio with Cruz Bay view, priceless!

This was the perfect home base for us for a week of beach going, snorkeling, and hiking. The patio is very spacious with lovely furniture and a spectacular view. The kitchen is also a huge selling point. While not big, it was better equipped for cooking than any VRBO we’ve ever rented and very functional. We appreciated the adjacent spur trail to the main hiking path and used it often. Thanks to the hosts and Dena the property manager!

Great stay in St. John

We had a great stay at El Nido. The kitchen had all the equipment for a few breakfasts and dinners at home. The view from the patio was gorgeous. It's nicely perched on the hill to take advantage of the breeze. Furniture was generally comfortable. Wifi was good. There was some road noise later into the morning but nothing too disruptive. Would definitely recommend to other couples visiting St. John.

February 2024 Stay

First time staying on Cruz Bay side, location was very conveniently located off of Centerline Road. Condo was clean with plenty of space for the two of us. Neighbors and the local animals were slighlty noisy but wasn't a deal breaker. One downside, we put together one of the puzzles and it was missing a couple of pieces, LOL!

Great location!

We loved the view, needed a car for sure. Absolutely no communication from host before the stay, pretty stressful. We emailed a few times and even up until an hour before check in no word. He called and said father-in-law passed away so he was sorry. Property manager gave us some money for dinner while cleaning crews cleaned up. Overall great place just stressful at first!

The most beautiful view from the big balcony. This condo made us feel like at home. Everything you needed was there for you. Wifi worked great. A most comfortable breeze from the south windows really coiled rhe pkace off, even rhough we used rhe ac in the bedroom at night. The kitchen was large and had everything you needed. The pool was really nice. Parking for one vehichle right next to the steps. This place was perfect. Close to the ferry, grocery shopping at Dolphin Market, etc. Communications with both the owner and property manager were spot on. Manager Trevor met us there and gave us the details we needed. He made us feel at home. I'd reccomend this beautiful condo to anyone looking for a place near Cruz bay with a beautiful view.

El Nido

Pros: Beautiful location overlooking the bay. Kitchen is modern and well stocked with all the things we needed to cook. We loved the deck with the chaise lounges. Pool and pool area is nice. Condo was clean. Dena was lovely to deal with. Cons: AC in bedroom was very loud and didn't cool the room much. Mattress and pillows uncomfortable. On one of the beach chairs, the backpack part was ripped and didn't work so we had to carry it. Just be aware there's no dishwasher, and washer dryer is not located in the condo. But honestly it served us well for our trip.

Great Views, But Some Unexpected Challenges

The condo was very clean and comfortable, with a fully stocked kitchen and absolutely stunning balcony views — definitely a highlight of our trip.We encountered several issues that made the experience less than ideal. It's not uncommon for St. John to experience rolling power outages, but unfortunately, the power went out during the night on Monday and wasn’t restored fully until Wednesday.Because the property uses a cistern water system, we couldn’t use running water or flush toilets while the power was out. We were also advised not to drink the tap water, and no bottled water was provided, which added to the inconvenience. On top of that, the pump for the cistern had burned out on Tuesday evening, so using the water wasn't possible until it was repaired the next morning. The property manager, Dena, suggested using buckets of water to flush the toilet as a temporary solution. While that helped somewhat, it wasn’t the experience we had hoped for. Once the power and water were restored on Wednesday, the rest of our stay went more smoothly, but the first few days were definitely challenging.We also found the pool murky — we couldn’t see the bottom — so we chose not to use it. Additionally, the outdoor grills were rusted and unusable, which was disappointing.We enjoyed the condo’s comfort and views, but the issues we faced made the stay less relaxing. If you’re planning to stay here, it’s worth being prepared for these potential challenges.

Beautiful views/lovely decor

Pleasantly surprised w the unit. Beautiful new deck, w comfortable lounge chairs and outdoor dining. Had all the amenities you’d want… Gorgeous views of Chocolate hole, Cruz Bay, etc. Location made it nice to access South or North shores. AC in bedroom although the open rafters made it difficult to cool. Everything else was exceptional.

Much needed sun and fun!

We loved this property. Gorgeous views, close ride to downtown. Would recommend getting a Jeep Rental to explore island and get around. The condo was beautiful! Bedroom stays cool with the AC and the rest of the condo stayed cool with the breeze. Condo development quiet and pool was a great. A must stay!

Amazing veiws

There's something special about St. John and this property is perfect! It was spacious (just me and my husband), the view is amazing, the location was great, and the winds kept things cool! We were able to check in early on our arrival day and the property is very clean. I would highly recommend!

Beautiful and convenient location!

We loved staying at El Nido for our week in St John! The location was incredibly convenient to Cruz Bay area, with a beautiful view and a nice modern unit. The decor was great, amenities exactly what we needed for a week! The greeter was easy to work with, gave us some tips for while on island as well. We can’t wait to return to the island!

Get-away at El Nido

This one bedroom condo was great choice for us. Panoramic 180+ view to the southwest from the deck, cool breezes - so no need for AC, comfortable bed, lots of towels, great shower, well equipped kitchen, plenty of beach stuff for two, and very, very clean. Property manager Dena we rated excellent, and the owner's information packet was one of the best we've ever come across.

Very Happy with this Property

The property was just as the pictures online showed. No surprises, which was nice. Very clean, plenty of space for 2 people. We enjoyed the large deck every morning and evening. The deck provided more privacy than we expected, as there are no other decks next to you. Good location and nice views of the water. The property manager met us at our car rental's office, we followed her to the unit and she gave a quick tour of the unit which was appreciated.

Very clean property in a convenient location. 5 min drive to cruise bay. The bed was comfortable, views were spectacular, and the neighborhood is quiet. Clean pool, convenient laundry, well equipped kitchen, I could go on and on.

After about three years of wondering and hoping we could someday find a place of our own on St. John, an opportunity came up and our dream came true.
Glenn is retired and Debbie is a school teacher which only allows her vacation time during specific times of the year. Unfortunately for now, that only allows us to visit our happy place a couple of times a year.

Why they chose this property

On a stay in March 2019, we met a couple who were the owners of El Nido. They showed us their home and we fell in love with it the minute we saw it. It wasn't available for purchase, but we knew this would be our perfect St. John place. We told the owners that we'd certainly be interested if they were selling and if they'd give us a call first if indeed they were going to sell. Two months later, they called us and here we are. We then knew it was meant to be. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
