About Julie James
Mature female - working in HR in Sydney Australia. Have a blended family of 5 children (all adults) and to-date 2 grand children. A number of properties in Australia - rentals, share with family, holiday home and a 'live in'. Considering retirement - but can't seem to make the step! Often book accommodation over Xmas (big enough for all to drop in, spend some quality time move on!) usually for 4 weeks or more. Friends are very important and as an expat friends have become extended family. Love food - all types and always experimenting. France is a favourite destination. Champagne a favourite drink in daylight, red wine when sun goes down. Holiday home is 30 acres on the Monaro 1 hour from Australian Snowy Mountains - we all love to ski/board, 'bushwalk' and roam. Always on the look-out for good interior design ideas and respect quality furnishes and finishes. Enjoy cooking for a group (hubby now competes - eventually learned to cook - released a monster). Take pride in hospitality, home & family.
Julie James purchased this farmhouse in 2003
Why Julie James chose Arable
Cherry Tree is one of the original buildings on the Monaro. Some parts of the property are heritage listed. We purchased in 2003 and over the years have converted the Schoolhouse into a games room and the Cooks Cottage into a self contained living quarters for onsite manager. All rooms have been decorated in keeping with the period of the house. The most recent addition is the front deck - an 18 x4 metre wooden deck running the full length with doors opening on to it from the living room and master bedroom - a wonderful spot to unwind in both winter and summer. The property is our much loved family holiday home - one which we will most likely retire to. We bought originally so we had holiday accommodation close to the ski slopes. The advantage being we can always stay home and have plenty to do if the snow is not so good. It is 1 hour 15 minutes from our front gate via the back road to the ski carpark at Perisher or Thredbo. As the last lift is around 4:30pm so you can be home by 6pm with a lovely open fire and a space to relax. The farmhouse is heated (radiators) in the kitchen, bathroom and sitting rooms (bedrooms have separate electric heaters). Fully fitted kitchen, with large open fireplace, gas/electic oven, convection/grill microwave, air fryer, coffee options and all the kitchen appliances you would expect in a gourmet kitchen. A separate games room with open fireplace (and gas heating) with the usual board games a half size snooker table, darts, fuseball and table tennis options. Outside area has a huge front deck with outdoor tables and seating. For the energetic there are around 30 acres of land belonging to the property with plenty of places to explore. We have 5 bikes for guest use (children and Adult). Under supervision happy to provide tractor, quad/motor bike rides. Archery can also available - country style! Also we now have a hot tub -a winter must or unheated for a summer cooling dip.
