There is no reason to hesitate - this is a GREAT villa!
We haven't been to Tortola since Irma and Maria in 2017 so we weren't sure what to expect. Although there is still damage around the island, this villa is absolutely perfect! There are several things I would like to point out: (1) the owner and his team are fabulous! They were very responsive and provided any and all information we could ever need. The ladies who greeted us upon our arrival, booked our car rental and did a mid-week cleaning while we were there were top-notch! (2) if you are like us and rent homes and villas instead of hotels when you travel you will appreciate that the furnishings, etc. were purchased for this villa (instead of being the cast-offs of the owner's primary residence) - it makes a big difference. (3) the beach in front of the villa has eroded some but it is still a beautiful spot! There are very few places that I have found in the Virgin Islands that are directly on the beach - you will love sitting on the covered balcony and seeing nothing but crystal blue water and the sunset over Jost Van Dyke! It's awesome! (4) You will find renovations underway all over the island - Cane Garden Bay still has a few good beachfront bars that provide chairs during the day and a nice outdoor restaurant at night (there's a new restaurant across the street called Ba-na-nas that we really liked). We also ate at De Coal Pot and Pussers in RoadTown. Our favorite beach, by far, was Josiah's Bay. Second was Smuggler's Cove. There was alot of construction on the beach at Brewer's Bay while we were there. (5) the baths at Virgin Gorda seemed to be untouched by the hurricanes. We rented a private boat to take us around JVD and Peter Island - all good! Ask for Ed 346-6131...he's terrific! All in all it was exactly what we hoped for! If you go in the near future, keep in mind that the island is still recovering but stay at the Casa Carib - it's really the best place on the island!
Unit very nice; everything you need; steps to upper loft a but much for older folks
We really enjoyed the stay at Casa Caribe. The view is beautiful from the bedroom loft and from the balcony. The beach directly below the unit is very rocky, but a very nice accessible beach is just 50 yards down to the right, where Sabastian's bar and dining is located. Hurricane Erma did a lot of damage to the BVI, but Casa Caribe was totally repaired and ready for us when we arrived. The spiral staircase to the bedroom loft was a bit much for us older folks after 3-4 days. However, we would have had no issue 20 years ago:) We would love to bring the grandkids to the area; they would love it. Check out Sebastian's bar and grill within walking distance from Casa Caribe. They are very accommodating. Rent a car and see the island if you really want to have a great time. Smuggler's Cove is only a couple of clicks away and has a great bar on the isolated beach. Casa Caribe was very nice and is managed very professionally. Very clean and up to date. Highly recommended for the young and middle aged vacationers out there.
beautiful and comfortable villa in a special place
The Casa Caribe loft is a wonderful villa right on the water in Apple Bay. Sharlene met us there and gave us a tour of the villa. It was very clean, and decorated beautifully. (I recognize the ceramic lighting pieces of Donald Schnell of St John, USVI!) We loved hearing the ocean waves, and we had colorful sunsets every night! The bed in the loft was very comfortable with soft linens. Great pillows. The L-shaped couch is large enough for two, one on each end. It may be a tad stiff for sleeping with my bad back, but our daughter slept great! Plenty of bathroom and beach towels provided. The kitchen had all that we needed, but we splurged and ate out every night for dinner:) The mini-split air conditioner worked great, worked quietly, plus there were fans available. Plenty of space and hangers to store clothes and spread out! The bathroom door was louvered, so we had to improvise for privacy for our teenage daughter--we played music a lot :) We appreciated the plug for USB charging, as well as the foot-wash tub at the front door and the clothes line off the porch. Enjoyed making our own coffee and swinging on the porch. Right in front of the villa is the rocky water line, so to access the beach, we walked a few villas down and found a cut-through. We also loved being close to Long Bay and Smuggler's Cove. Lots of villas in the area are still ramshackle, but we saw several villas being fixed up. Apple Bay is a quaint area, and though it is about 20 minutes outside of Road Town, it is definitely still our first choice to stay. Great restaurants--D'Coal Pot, Sebastian's, Gene's Bar and Grill in Sea Cows Bay, Red Rock. Also, Omar's Cafe in Soper's Hole. Bananakeet wasn't open mid-July:(
We highly recommend: Groundsea Adventures BVI, we did the Hike-Paddle tour--Alex guided us on paddleboards through the mangroves, (saw baby sharks, the coolest jellyfish) and we hiked up over Trellis Bay. Also, Capt Debs with Island Surf and Sail. We did a full-day excursion to five snorkeling locations--saw lots of nurse sharks, tarpon, barracuda, turtles, wreck of the Rhone, comb jellies, so much! We loved that she guided us in the water. Nice snack and drinks too!
Also, hike at Sage Mountain National Park. Up there, Jim makes a killer banana smoothie at Mountain View Restaurant--the best! And a day trip by ferry to Virgin Gorda. We were the only ones at Devil's Bay!
Casa Caribe is a great BVI home base! We highly recommend Casa Caribe!
Beautiful environment almost like a dream.
Kudos to Patty, Samantha, Cheryl and the rest of the crew. You guys were so helpful during our stay.
We stayed a week in Casa Caribe's loft. The villa was wonderful. there is an AC unit upstairs in the bedroom that provides adequate cooling for the unit. The villa also had 2 beach chairs and a small cooler that made our outings to the beach so much easier. The villa also has a full kitchen with microwave and coffee pot. We had the villa provisioned before we got there which worked out great.
The surrounding area is still pretty devastated from the Hurricane, but this did not detract from having a great vacation. Da Coal Pot is a local restaurant that is nearby and the food is very good, sunsets even better. It seems as if restaurants and shops are reopening each day. Would go back again next week if we could afford to!
