Having stayed at Mina on several occasions now (another week already booked for next September) I really thought I should write a review of this much loved apartment. Funnily enough I stayed here when it was the Mina Hotel (Tapestry) and when I realised it had been converted into apartments I was delighted. There are many good things to write about Mina but the top few are firstly, being a penthouse apartment it has the best view of the bay, including Mouse and Snake islands. Secondly, unlike many properties in Kalkan it is an easy walk to the old town, about 5-10 minutes, the slight incline on the way home really isn’t a problem and thirdly, it is the best ever equipped apartment I have ever stayed in. Just like being at home.
If you are just a couple or a family it is a great space to enjoy your holiday. It’s very spacious.
Kalkan is also a lovely place. There is a small beach but if you prefer a swimming pool , Mina shares two with the other apartments. I have always found there to be plenty of sunbeds available.
Restaurants in Kalkan are plentiful. Like one for nearly every day of the year I should imagine! They range from really quite expensive to small and cheap and where you see the locals eating, always a good sign.
And however much I bang on about how fantastic this apartment is , is does have some setbacks. Eh, I can’t actually think of any at the moment. Roll on September 2015 is all I can say.
Kalkan’s small beach which is adjacent to the entrance to the harbour and bars is a 10 minute walk. Alternatively there are many beach clubs offering water-sking, jet ski, scuba diving in the crystal clear waters of the bay. There are many famous beaches and historic sites a short drive (or bus trip away) Patara with its 18 km of beach, spectacular sand dunes and historic sites is only 20 minutes away and the stunning Kaputas beach is only 5 minutes away.
Flights from the UK to Dalaman airport Turkey take approx 4 hours. Dalaman (airport code DLM) is the closest airport to Kalkan. A new terminal building is now open.

Kalkan is a small peaceful Mediterranean resort and fishing village. It is more sophisticated than the usual resort and has not been touched by mass tourism.
Sheltered at the foot of the towering Taurus Mountains, Kalkan curls round an ancient harbour. The town overlooks a beautiful bay dotted with small islands. Narrow streets twist down to the harbour, lined with white washed, shuttered buildings draped with brightly coloured bougainvillea. There are many speciality shops and excellent restaurants, often with roof terraces overlooking the harbour. Because of its great charm, Kalkan has a growing number of perennial visitors who say the town is the only holiday destination they would choose to visit repeatedly. There is simply no other town quite like Kalkan along Turkey's coast.
