This was a great apartment fully equipped with everything you might need. The owner was most helpful, just a phone call away, to help us get the heat turned on. Very convenient location and a beautiful setting, looking out over the river. It was perfect for 2 couples with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Would definitely stay here again!
Thank you so much for your comments, I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay. Have a safe onward journey.
We loved having supper on the balcony, with a view of the fast-flowing clear green river below. Belluno was a nice town and well-located for exploring the area. The apartment stayed reasonably cool so we slept well despite the hot weather.
Eery at first and then very nice
We found the apartment to be very nice and comfortable. The view of the river right in front of the open windows was fantastic. The kitchen and bedrooms were great. The building entrance and outside area is slightly creepy. Also, a man in a red car tried to electronically jam our car key fob right when we arrived. There appeared to be two men and a woman working together. My husband refused to leave the car because it would not lock. When the man drove away, the car locked. Apparently, jamming peoples key fobs happens often in Europe because it is illegal for cars to make noise when locking them.
We walked up to the city center in Belluno and really enjoyed the history and charm of the area. We drove to Venice one day and visited a beautiful nearby lake with some lovely waterfalls another day. I would stay there again, but continue to be aware of everything going on around me.
Great location. Unfortunately the parking can be difficult.
Nice beds and good showers. The maps and restaurant suggestions were very helpful.
Comfortable place to enjoy Belluno
Love the view of the river. Enjoyed standing on the deck listening to the river and seeing the water rise after a big snow. Good location with a 10 -15 minute walk "up" to Piazza dei Martiri, with multiple ways to get there. Clean, comfortable space with lots of closet room. Enjoyed our stay very much.
Thanks Cathie for you kind review.
Special interest holidays:
Biking - there are a wealth of road and off-road options. We are well placed for rides from Munich to Venice, to shorter ones from Belluno to Venice or just enjoying the mountains and countryside either on or off-road. There is a lock up garage to keep your bikes safe with two nearby bike shops to cater for your biking needs.
Some great walking areas to explore in and around Belluno. The famous Alta Via 1, through the Dolomites finishes in Belluno. A range of walks from Via Ferratas to more gentle strolls.
This area is popular with military historians and there are many significant battle sites from World War 1 to visit and explore.
Great fly fishing in the River Piave one of the best areas in Italy for fly fishing.
Skiing nearby in the small resort of Nevigal or slightly further away the stylish resort of Cortina. A favourite ski area of ours is Civetta in the Val de Zoldo region.
The Adriatic beaches such as Lido d'Jesolo are only an hour away. Or a great favourite with children, Caribe Bay with it fantastic water park and slides. There is swimming/beach at the nearby Lake Santa Croce and other nearby lakes.
The airports of Venice, Treviso and Marco Polo are about one hour away. Car hire is available at both airports. Airport transfer can be arranged. Use of car is recommended.
The apartment is short walk from the centre of Belluno. Venice is 1 hour's drive away Just half hour's drive will take you to the beautiful towns of Vittorio Veneto and Feltre. Not far away beautiful green "prosecco region" is a must for wine lovers and foodies.
There is a supermarket open everyday only a short walk away from the apartment. A wealth of restaurants, pizzerias, cafes and wine bars all located in the centre of Belluno as well as all the other amenities a town can offer, such as, train station, banks, supermarkets, butchers, bakeries, greengrocers etc and a market on Saturdays.

About Frances Holgate
My husband and I bought the apartment in 2009. We both enjoy skiing in the winter and walking in the summer. We fell in love with Belluno and the surrounding area, where we have enjoyed many wonderful holidays, winter, spring, summer and autumn.
Frances Holgate purchased this Apartment in 2009
Why Frances Holgate chose Belluno
We love it because it is so conveniently placed for Venice, the mountains and lots of good restaurants. The town of Belluno nestles in the foothills of the Dolomites and is unspoiled by tourists. We also chose the apartment because it is located on the banks of the river Piave.
What makes this Apartment unique
Walking into the old town for a glass of Prosecco before our evening meal. Listening to the sounds of the river and watching fishermen leisurely casting a fly for alpine trout. Walking through the spring mountain flowers. In the summer, returning from a long walk in the hills to enjoy a cold beer on the balcony. In the autumn admiring the wonderful display the colours trees turn and in the winter heading up to the mountains for a days skiing and returning to our cosy apartment.
