Lovely Villa

Les Rotes is the nicest part of Denia. (we stay in Denia regularly). The beach and restaurants are walkable. The area is somewhat upmarket (compared with the north side of Denia), leafy and close to beaches. The pool is great and was well taken care of by the pool guy. There’s plenty of space and loungers, cushions outside and room to easily park two cars. The upstairs living space is great, bedrooms and bathrooms are at least adequate and the showers are seriously good.
All the doors and windows have effective bug screens The utility room is a great bonus. The poor internet connection was a constant problem and blighted our stay to a considerable extent. It appears to be a satellite system. Such systems are beset with latency issues. This is not a massive issue for internet browsing, email, social media etc. Generally is was in the 5-12 range which is OK. However, the latency means that your kids will most definitely not be able to play online games. There was a problem with dropouts that lasted for a minute or two every 5-10 minutes. So Netflix/BBC iPlayer/Amazon Prime etc are more or less inaccessible. This really needs to be resolved before one could fully recommend this property. The barbecue is rather primitive. The fridges were very poor, lacking upright bottle storage and the one never got really cold. Dishwasher was adequate, but hob and oven the cheapest possible quality. Better quality kitchen and dining equipment would be appropriate.

2 weeks in July 2024

We arrived to a lovely clean and very welcoming villa, gaining access was straightforward. We went with our 4 teenagers 13-16 years and they loved the pool and outside areas. We had barbecues and sat outside on the lovely table. Coffee in the morning under the shade of the pretty foliage and a siesta in the afternoon beneath the shade of the villa. The bedrooms are lovely, air conditioned allowing for a cool nights sleep. Denia is really fun,Ellie communicated the best places to go and eat. Breakfast at Guiseppies on the marina, tapas at La Cubanita and dinner in the Els Magazinos. Lovely cocktails and every food you fancy. We would recommend the sushi! Helios is 10 minute walk from the villa with gorgeous views of the sea, cold beers and tasty tapas. We swam and went snorkelling, I would recommend shoes you can navigate the rocky/ pebbles and swim in. Download the Medusa app to keep an eye out for jellyfish, we found that useful and didn’t have any problems. Sasha came every couple of days to check we were all ok and keep an eye on the pool, he was absolutely delightful and we are so grateful for his kindness and top tips for places to visit. We enjoyed the gardener popping in, he was friendly and discreet. We rented a car for the 2 weeks, I would recommend. Go and see the waterfalls, but go early in the morning, it gets quite busy in July and Aug. We wanted to go to Valencia for a day out but a bit too hot for us! Fantastic property and host

Absolutely fabulous- spacious, clean and everything you may possibly need. Lots of small restaurants located within a short walk and only 25 min walk into the marina/port. The pool was kept so clean and nothing was too much trouble, Ellie responds quickly and efficiently and is a great hostess, thank you for your hosptality Ellie.

Fantastic Denia

We stayed at Villa Gecko for 3 weeks and had a fabulous time. The photos of the villa and surrounding landscape do not do it justice. If you’re looking for an authentic Spanish holiday, then Denia and this villa is for you.

Es war großartig aber …

Unser 2 wöchiger Urlaub mit 2 Personen im Herbst (Oktober / November) war großartig in der Villa. Aber die angegebene Lage stimmt leider nicht! Es sind 2 Gehminuten zum Samaruc Restaurante und ca. 20 Minuten zum Strand. Aber ansonsten war alles schön!

Mooie Villa

Mooie villa in het mooie Denia, het huis heeft zeer veel goeds toch een paar kleine tips: * bedden zijn behoorlijk hard * verlichting buiten zeer miniem * buiten bij eettafel dak van bloemen eigenlijk ongewenst als je daar wilt eten, zit toch wat ongedierte Al met al een zeer mooie en leuke vakantie gehad en dit is mede veroorzaakt door de villa. Nog 1 punt , de poolman Sasha is een geweldige aardige man die je maar hoeft te bellen of appen en hij staat altijd voor je klaar, een geweldige aardige man👍👍

Not ideal for families

We consider the pool wasn't easy to access for either lids or elderly. Cutlery and glasses were dirty. Wifi work very intermittently. Gardeners came at lunch time (even if the check in information said to not make noise 13:30-16:30) when we left the house 11-12 as that is when they were due. Either way why cant those jobs be completed when house is empty on Saturdays?

This villa was perfect for 3 generations.Cleanliness was up to our American daughter in laws exacting standards. In a great position. Road no problem as not busy and made for easy out and about.

Fabulous property

This villa is very spacious and had a fantastic layout for our group. It worked really well for our group of 6 and I felt that it would not be that crowded if there were 8 adults. There is plenty loungers ( extremely comfy as well) and seating areas all around the villa. The terrace on the 1st floor was an ideal spot for morning coffee or our evening pre dinner drinks with a lovely view to the side of the surrounding hills. The outside dining table was a perfect place for a shaded lunch under the pergola which was draped in bougainvillea . There is mention in previous reviews of the noisy road and it is a relatively busy road at some times of the day but the beautiful tall hedging and electric gate made this property feel very secluded and we all managed an afternoon siesta despite a little bit of road noise. I think the cost of this property reflects that and I would challenge anyone to get a better property for the price. It is a 30 min walk to supermarkets but we arranged a Mercadona delivery to the villa the morning after we arrived and that worked amazingly as we did not have a hire car . ( Book this at least 4 days in advance) There is one or 2 small restaurants locally and Helios is perfectly placed for a G&T with a stunning waterside location only 5-10 mins from Villa. The local beach is a 10 min walk and lovely and uncrowded - the beach on other side of town has pedaloes/an inflatable adventure park/paddle boards for hire - It is a 40 min walk - a taxi will cost 8-10 euros from Villa to town . There is a local bus which we caught a couple of times if we felt lazy but the walk into town was lovely and Denia itself felt authentically Spanish . Lovely food and atmosphere every time we were out. Highly recommend this villa .

Denia villa holiday

We came with the family to celebrate our Golden wedding. We were very impressed with our first sight of the villa! It was beautiful, set in a lovely garden in which was a very inviting pool. We have holidayed with the family in the past but never has our accommodation come with metal shutters and mosquito screens…. a real bonus for safety and security. The furnishings inside the villa were tasteful but family friendly, the kitchen was well equipped and there was English language TV as well as loads of DVDs, games.etc to suit all tastes. We could even access Netflix using our own account. Outside these was a sun lounger for everyone complete with cushion and pool towel as well as a variety of elegant seating in all areas of the garden and the upstairs balcony. We also made use of the built in BBQ. A large, cool utility room housing the washing machine, laundry essentials and fridge freezer was a bonus and were it needed, a high chair, travel cot and even a baby bath! This laundry room gave direct access to the drying area outside. AC in the bedrooms allowed us all to sleep comfortably even though the temperature during most of our stay was in the 30s. It was a memorable holiday especially since there was a weeklong fiesta including bull runs through the main street of Denia and into the sea, a parade of floats and finishing with fireworks! Perhaps this explains that the hourly local bus service to and from the town did not run to time in our experience though the 30 minute walk each way was pleasant being mostly flat and along a seaside promenade. The nearest supermarket was about 15 minutes away and we used this to buy fresh bread but the local Mercadona supermarkets provide a very reliable delivery service.

Ha estado muy bien. La casa muy completa excepto que no hay lavaplatos. Las fotos podían ser mejores, ya que al llegar nos llevamos una muy buena sorpresa al ver que la casa era mejor de lo que se veía en las fotos. Muy contentos

Dated noisy property, needs improvement

I have never had to give a bad review but sadly I do this time. Outside This house is a good size with a nice pool but it is on a busy noisy road which may be ok for some people but not us. The garden needs constant sweeping because the trees and plants don’t get watered so constantly drop leaves. There were a couple of rats running above the bougainvillea canopy from the house into next doors garden, we saw them a few times. There is no evening sun in the garden or terrace sadly, the one that did (solarium), the owner didn’t allow access. All in all we didn’t find the outside space relaxing which is a huge shame as that is why we rented the house. Inside The inside of the house is tired in places and needs some work. The bedroom we slept in mattress was extremely hard so had to buy a topper! The bedside lamps had UK plugs on so couldn’t use them, we then found other lamps in the house which didn’t all have bulbs that worked. The lounge/dining area which is upstairs has no air conditioning which was not comfortable in 37 degree heat as there was no breeze, in cooler weather with all the windows it probably is fine without. We had a few leaks in various places which the property manager sent someone to look at. The house overall wasn’t cleaned properly before we got there it was a very light surface clean so we had to do it ourselves which didn’t add to the overall relaxing holiday we thought we were going to have. We contacted the owner after a few days to say just how unhappy we were and asked to leave but we had no response at all from her which was extremely disappointing and upsetting.

Perfect villa gataway

Villa Gecko is stunning and was fully equipped for our stay. The pool was perfect for cooling down in and for the kids to play around in. The numerous outdoor seating areas meant that everyone had space to relax. The road outside is very busy however the private garden and electric gates mean that you are secluded from it. Ellie's communication was first class, she was incredably helpful with any of my queries and questions before and during our stay. The villa is around a 10min walk to the nearest beach and promenade and around a further 20mins to denia town. Villa Gecko is perfect for families who are looking for a quiet break away from civilisation and the hustle and bustle of big tourist resorts. The supermarket is quite a walk so if you dont have a car then I can recommend you use Mercadona online shopping and delivery, this was convenient and easy for us.

Beautiful home and garden

We had a fabulous stay at Ellie's home in Denia. It was exactly what we were looking for - an oasis to enjoy family time, soak in the pool, and stuff our stomachs with food from the BBQ! Beds were comfortable and showers strong and hot! We had a minor issue with the lights but as soon as we informed of the issue it was fixed very quickly. At all times, prior to booking, after doing so and while on our trip the communication was flawless. One thing to note that we didn't know ahead of time (not sure if we missed it in the listing or not) is that the kitchen and living/dining rooms are upstairs. We have one family member who struggles climbing stairs too often so we honestly should have checked in advance instead of just assuming those public areas were downstairs, but it's a good thing to note. Luckily there are bedrooms on the ground level and a wonderful outdoor eating area that we used for every meal so it wasn't a major issue for us. We hope to return to Ellie's home some time in the future as it was so relaxing for all!

This villa is contemporary light and airy - when the house remodelled we concentrated on making it light and airy - we had upstairs as the living space open plan with kitchen - dining and lounge area - plus two bedrooms both with en-suite downstairs is a further two bedrooms plus bathroom and our own bedroom which we keep locked and are not for use - large entrance hall and utility - I am a safety fanatic so we had safety gates made for children's safety on the inside stairs and also the outside stairway too - electric gate for security and safety for children - pavements aren't great for first few minutes walk until you join the main promenade walkway which is easy walking access into town and the port passing by the marina

Being involved in travel I enjoyed traveling to many places - I never thought of buying a holiday home until I visited Denia and I immediately fell in love with the area and the Spanish traditions still continuing in this cosmopolitan historic town and resort - I have now retrired and have decided to let the property for a short period -as this is predominently our holiday home and we want to keep up the high quality and standard of the interior and pool area and enjoy when possible our lovely home the beautiful surrounding beaches and appreciate the beauty mount mongo and the nature reserve that our home sits along side

The property is in the upmarket area of Los Rotes which has great views of Mount Mongo - we are on the edge of Mongo National Park and therefore have great views of Mount Mongo and miles of National Park on the doorstep - the villa sits side of mountain road Denia to Javea and a 15min walk to the sea - and beach - the property is private - but it is not remote - convenient for the local bus stop which is two minutes walk away and this service runs about every half hour into town - marina and to the supermarket behind Port Denia Hotel which sells fresh bread and pastries daily which are delicious mmmm...but if you dont fancy the 25minute walk we have the local bus - some say Best tapas in Denia restaurant on our doorstep next door but two eat in-take out-We are not remote people we do enjoy privacy but the thought of us being stuck out in the sticks needing to drive every where was not for us - we love it and guests who have stayed have gone home with great reviews and memorable holiday times - many have returned for second and third time
