Cottage in St Minver, Nr. Rock & Polzeath in Cornwall - Rural Country Setting But Minutes Away From The Coast
Why Karla Sloggett chose Wadebridge
We love Cornwall, especially the North coast. After visiting different parts of Cornwall for our own family holidays we fell in love with this area and have returned for many years. We bought the cottage in January 2017 and are delighted we can share it with you. It is situated close to fabulous beaches such as Polzeath, Rock and Daymer Bay which offers everything from surfing, sailing, coasteering, walking, dog friendly beaches etc. A few miles from the now famous Port Isaac, a ferry ride away to Padstow, a couple of miles to Wadebridge (which offers the camel trail and bike riding) and only a short drive to Newquay. There so much to do and see in this part of Cornwall we never tire of visiting and are sure you will love it too!
What makes this Cottage unique
Glen Valley Cottage has been equipped to cater for family holidays and we're delighted we can share it with you. It is one of 10 cottages with large communal lawns, as well as a private, enclosed garden to enjoy the evening sun. For those of you with children who want to enjoy some outdoor play at the end of a day, it's a safe environment which is totally visible from your cottage. Or you may wish to have a barbecue in the cottage garden. It's very quiet and tranquil setting, well away from the main roads. Perfect to relax after a busy day at the beach or walking some of the fantastic footpaths or stunning coastal walks.

A lovely week in North Cornwall
We stayed in this lovely two-bedroom cottage in a great location near to all the dog-friendly beaches in North Cornwall, the little food shops in Rock and Padstow is just a ferry ride away. The cottage itself is set in lovely grounds with a nice big communal lawn for the kids and dog to play in when at home. The cottage was comfy and well equipped, especially the kitchen, and it was well decorated throughout to provide a homely feel. My only gripe was that the mattress in the double bedroom was too soft to support my bad back. Overall it was a great stay and thoroughly recommended.
Fantastic cottage. Clean comfortable everything you could wish for. Great location. Had a lovely holiday. Would highly recommend
Easy booking although no picture of bathroom. Homely feel and well equipped. Cosy. Nice touches of books, dvds, games, throws. Outside space great but could do with a bit of love and attention as bit overgrown. Fridge and sink when arrived needed a bit more of a clean. Overall enjoyable and would definitely go again.
Thank you for booking with us and for your review. The grass has now been cut and the garden is back to looking neat and tidy, unfortunately due to the recent wet weather it has been too wet to cut. I'll ask our housekeeper to do a double check of the fridge and sink, thank you for pointing that out.
Lovely to hear you had an enjoyable holiday and looking forward to having you stay with us again.
A little gem
We had a two week stay in this very well equipped and comfortable cottage set in very quiet grounds. It was a pleasure to be there and we will be returning. I can highly recommend this cottage.
Fabulous stay in a lovely cosy cottage
A wonderfully presented cottage, though it is not big was plenty big enough for us as a family of 2 adults and 2 older children of 17 and 13 years who were more than happy sharing their pretty big twin bedded room. Very clean and cosy with everything you need if you decide to cook, which we did a few nights. Pityme Inn pub within 5 minute drive has delicious food and an excellent gin menu and a plus for teenagers, a pool table. Couldn't fault a thing here and our 2 teenagers loved it too. Nice touch with a chest of family games just in case weather's not good or just for some family entertainment. We loved every minute of our stay here and for April were extremely lucky to have such amazing weather that we didn't even get when we went to St Ives last August. Obviously this is just down to luck with our good old English weather. Excellent location for visiting the beaches with Rock and Polzeath very close or a short drive to the other gorgeous beaches of Mawgan Porth, Constantine Bay, Harlyn Bay to name a few which are great for bodyboarding, surfing and games on the beach. We loved the various costal walks and it is just quite simply a beautiful and breathtaking place. So much so we are coming back next April would be sooner if we could as none of us wanted to leave and are wondering how we are going to manage without the beach and the delicious bakery near by. Dillon the dog has thoroughly enjoyed all of the beaches and is probably only happy to be home purely to catch up on some sleep after exhausting days of digging and carrying pieces of slate from the beaches!! He's a king Charles spaniel and I'm not sure this is normal but he loved it!! Anyway we definitely recommend this lovely cottage and all the gorgeous surroundings. Go enjoy, explore and take in the beauty!!
Very clean and tidy everything you need beds and bedding very good quality.
We really enjoyed our visit . The only problems we had was the storage heaters that they was controlled by the owners app on their phones .We think that it would have been better if we had control over it as sometimes we would have liked it hotter especially at night time and early mornings
Thank you for your review, we’re pleased you enjoyed your visit.
We recently replaced the old night storage heaters with modern, smart electronic radiators. These are set to detect when guests are in the house and will increase the temperature to 23 degrees downstairs and 18 degrees upstairs. When guests leave the property the heating automatically adjusts to a few degrees lower.
All heaters are controllable by guests but we agree they are a little complicated, so suggest they are controlled by turning them on or off rather than trying to adjust them. I hope that explains how it works a little better and that you will come and enjoy our cottage again.
We are brilliantly located, close to many beaches. The closest are:
Rock is 2.7 miles away, sailing and water sports with a foot ferry across to Padstow.
Daymer Bay is 3.5 miles away, a large sheltered beach with safe swimming and sand dunes.
Polzeath is 4 miles away, a lively little village with shops and cafés famed for its good surfing.
Port Isaac is 6 miles away, AKA Port Wenn in the TV series Doc Martin.
Padstow is 12 miles away by car, but it's more fun to take the estuary ferry across from Rock, Padstow is an unspoiled small fishing town, the home of famous TV chef Rick Stein, his Seafood Restaurant is well worth a visit.
A car is essential to get around and explore the area.
The nearest Airport at Newquay is 17 miles away with car hire on site.
The village shops in St Minver and Rock are about 2 miles away.
Wadebridge the nearest town is 4 miles away with wider variety of shops, supermarkets and banks. A small cinema and a sports centre.
North Cornwall is very well served for restaurants to suit all tastes and budget.
We provide an abundance of information and recommendations on places to go, things to do and places to eat in our "House Brochure" located in the cottage.
