About romany mark bruce
I am a painter and sculptor living in Brighton, just a couple of doors from The Artist House.I have owned the house for about 12 years and have spent 6 months renovating it .Now it is well appointed, bright and sunny, and filled with art work which will be constantly changing. You will also find books and information about the history of Kemptown which is an interesting area with a colourful past!
romany mark bruce purchased this House in 2006
Why romany mark bruce chose Kemptown
I have lived in this area of Brighton for nearly 30 years and I would not live anywhere else. I am on the beach every day with my dog. Everthing you could want is nearby = shops, restaurants, clubs and bars and theatres.
What makes this House unique
The house was built in the 1790's, George St being one of the oldest streets in Brighton, dating back to when it was a small fishing village.

Brighton holiday June 2019
We have just spent a week at this beautiful property minutes from the beach in the heart of Brighton . The house is colourfully furnished with masses of character and Romany’s stunning art work on the walls made the house even more interesting. The beds are comfy and the bathrooms spacious. It was great being in the heart of Brighton which has an overwhelming choice of restaurants, we stuck to some of Romanys recommendations and can highly recommend ‘Food for friends ‘ and ‘casa don carlos’ . The Lanes were wonderful and it was great to see so many independent cafes, shops and eateries. We were a mixed aged group with three 20 year olds and four 50 something’s and we all felt that Brighton has something for everyone . Thanks Romany for such a great holiday
Situated in Kemp town this property is very well located and all the main attractions are easily accessible . Bedrooms quirky and comfortable and we loved the master bedroom . We didn't use the outdoor space but it was good to have it .
No need to cook as there are cafes and restaurants on every corner .
The pavilion is a must .
Brighton Marathon weekend
Five adults and two children stayed in Romany’s property over the Brighton Marathon weekend. Romany was in regular contact before our stay to ensure our stay was as comfortable as he could make it. This was despite him experiencing a personal tragedy. During the trip, he was low key, discrete but close to hand if we needed to call upon him (which thankfully we didn’t). The house is well equipped and comfortable. We would deffo stay again. Thanks Romany
Very comfortable house in a very central location
This is a beautiful house which is very comfortable and well equipped.
It’s only a few minutes walk from the pier, pavilion and lanes so very easy to enjoy Brighton without needing to use a car. The owner was extremely helpful too.
Perfect pad for a weekend in Brighton
Fantastic stay in a house full of character, not least because of owner Romany's superb artwork adorning the walls throughout. Located right in the heart of Brighton, this is the perfect base for a great stay in the UK's best town.
Location is great to all the key Brighton attractions
Very well located property that comfortable slept a family of 6 people.
Only small negative & there is nothing that can be done is that the living area is small & does not comfortably accomodate the same number
I am pleased that you enjoyed the great location of the house which in one of the oldest parts of Brighton and dates back to the 1790's. To assist potential visitors, the photographs include detailed floor plans with measurements of each room. The living room has to 3 seater sofas and a chaise. There is also a second reception dining room with a large table that can be extended to seat 14, and a private walled garden. To ensure the comfort of visitors the reception rooms are dedicated as such, with no casual sleeping or sofa beds.
Gatwick Airport is 30 minutes train ride or 40 minutes drive.
It's a 10 minute walk or a £6 short cab ride from Brighton Station
There is no parking space with the property, but there is a limited supply of parking vouchers . There are municipal car parks nearby
The seafront is two streets away, a matter of a few hundred meters. The house is very close to Brighton Pier, The Pavilion, The Dome, the Laines and the North Lanes.
