About Mrs Liz Miskin

I am a young at heart grandmother, retired translator, grew up in Kent, extensively travelled and lived many years in Kenya, where my children were born. I live in the village 300 yards from the property, am involved in village affairs and eager to share the delights of the area with new friends. I have a large and somewhat unruly German Shepherd and welcome visitors' dogs.

Why Mrs Liz Miskin chose Saint Teath

"Highly recommended but, most importantly, dog-friendly" -"The owner welcomed us with a delicious cake" - "Well-equipped and tastefully decorated" and many other complimentary reviews on both cottage and village. Tynedale has a "homey" feeling. It is comfortable and well-furnished and equipped but child- and dog-friendly. The log burners give it a cosy atmosphere. It is well-placed for activities and attractions but not overrun with other visitors.

A very disappointing property and in need of improvements and a deep clean!

  • 1 of 5

Upon arrival we were greeted by a house similar to the photo's, clearly these were taken upon it's arrival onto the holiday market (4ish yrs). Very little maintenance or cleaning seems to have taken place in that time. Both bathrooms were filthy, thick with dust, soap stains, hair and more worryingly black mould within shower cubicle and walls. Broken wall tiles with razor sharp edges. WC upstairs has been clearly leaking into the kitchen below which now has a bowed ceiling and mould growing. The kitchen itself was grim with every cupboard door covered with previous guests food and drink. Microwave covered in food splashes, dishwasher growing green mould on the thick sludge around it's door. Kitchen equipment and utensils with food remains on. Cloakroom had previous guests faeces on the toilet seat. En-suite hot tap on basin loose, toilet made an awful noise when flushed (not the saniflow) Window blind filthy and a most unpleasant smell filled the bedroom overnight. Areas of skirting boards covered in dirt, dust and dog hair, infact, anywhere with a flat edge was covered in dust and probably not cleaned for years. After dark and with lights on, the house turned into a Halloween scene, cobwebs adorned the ceiling and walls, they've been there a while as also covered in dust. My children's socks were black within 2 hours of being there.

Although the owner seems nice enough and after reporting the condition to her, apart from a bottle of dishwasher cleaner no attempt to rectify any problems was made! Fail to understand how this property has become in such a state without previous comment in it's reviews. I will be looking for a refund!

We had an amazing time in Cornwall. The cottage was beautiful and had everything we needed including a Travel cot and highchair for my baby. Liz was a great host. We were in a perfect spot to explore the beaches and would defiantly return.

Great place and a very good cottage

  • 4 of 5

Stayed for the Royal Cornwall Show so really just needed somewhere to sleep! Pub next door but one is just wonderful! Really friendly staff and very good traditional food all at great prices.

The house has comfortable beds and is well equipped. The floors are all wooden so are easy to keep clean. A great base in a beautiful area.

An amazing holiday, the owner of the cottage Liz met us with a warm smile and a fabulous home bake cake.

We had a wonderful time, St Teath is a warm and friendly village a great base to stay and very central to many places to explore.

We spent fabulous sunny days visiting Padstow, Port Issac, Newquay and Tintagel castle and many more places.

The cottage was lovely, spacious and extremely well equipped

Highly recommended and but most importantly dog friendly.

A mention must also go the White hart pub 2 doors along great food and very welcoming.
