Perfect for easy village living with all the shops you need within a couple of minutes walk. The area offers some of the best food in France and the wine from Parazza Chateau is memorable. The cycling is along quiet and safe backroads with a mix of flat and hilly areas to explore. A great property with easy parking within a minutes walk hosted by Diane who made us all feel most welcome.

Absolute diamond of a property!We really enjoyed our stay. The property is comfortable, clean and well equipped. The pool is the best we have seeen in over 20 years of renting properties in France. No need to worry about the kids getting sun burnt while playing in the pool they LOVED it. Diane gave us loads of information about places to go and restaurant recommendations. There is a little corner shop, bakery and pizza takeaway/restaurant around the corner which was ideal. Plenty to do and see in the area. We will definitely stay again!!

Comfortable and well-equipped gîte

We very much enjoyed our stay in Canet. The gîte was very comfortable, with good sized bedrooms and two modern bathrooms. We used the covered, large swimming pool most days as we are both keen swimmers - even in early October it stayed pretty warm. We also appreciated the easy access to the Canal du Midi (only 1 1/2 km) with its safe cycle tracks both towards Carcassone and Narbonne. Lots to do nearby with Narbonne and its historic centre only 20 minutes away and with good car parks in the centre. Beziers was also well worth visiting and Perpignan and Carcassone under an hour away. The owners were very discreet but also extremely helpful when needed - especially when dealing with the aftermath of a large lorry driven by a local reversing into my new car!

Wonderful!

We had a wonderful stay in Canet. On arrival Diane welcomed us and showed us around the Gite. She had very kindly left two bottles of wine chilling in the fridge and a lovely gift basket. The house was perfect for us, we felt very at home and comfortable and the garden was a massive bonus for us with two children. They loved spending lots of time out there and the pool was lovely! We would definitely visit again!

Relaxed stay

Diane is a very nice and relaxed host, which makes the house feel very private while it is actually in her family’s backyard. The kitchen is very well equipped and for a family of six it is nice to have two bathrooms. Of course the

Toller Aufenthalt!!!

Die Ankunft war problemlos, da die Vermieter zeitlich sehr flexibel waren. Der Empfang war sehr herzlich und es wurden uns alle relevanten Informationen zum Haus und Umgebung gegeben. Das Haus mit Pool war toll! Es war sehr gut ausgestattet und es Alles vorhanden, was im Urlaub in einem Ferienhaus benötigt wird. Ein Highlight war natürlich der Indoor-Pool und das große Grundstück. Die Vermieterin Diane und Ihre Familie waren sehr freundlich und sehr hilfsbereit. Wir würden wiederkommen.

Immer wieder gerne

Sehr nette Vermieter, alles ganz unkompliziert, viele gute Tipps für Ausflüge, Ort usw. Super überdachter Pool. Gute Ausstattung des Ferienhauses, nur der in der Anzeige aufgeführte Trockner fehlte, vielleicht war damit nur die Wäscheleine gemeint. Auch einen 2. Kühlschrank gibt es nicht. Den haben wir auch nicht vermisst, da der vorhandene Kühlschrank sehr groß ist. Insgesamt hatten wir einen tollen Urlaub bei Diane.

Eine schöne Woche

Wir haben zu sechst eine schöne Woche in diesem Ferienhaus verbracht. Das Haus ist geschmackvoll eingerichtet und gut ausgestattet. Der hintere Teil des Grundstücks steht den Mietern zur Eigennutzung zur Verfügung und bietet nette Sitzgelegenheiten. Der Pool ist durch seine schattige Innenlage wunderbar erfrischend. Diane, die Vermieterin, hat uns sehr herzlich empfangen und steht bei Fragen jederzeit sehr hilfsbereit zur Verfügung. Die Umgebung bietet viele schöne Ausflugsmöglichkeiten. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und empfehlen die Unterkunft gerne weiter.

Herrlicher Platz für einen entspannten Sommerurlaub

Geräumiges und komfortables Gite an der Rückseite eines ehemaligen Herrenhauses, dass von den Vermietern bewohnt wird. Sehr großzügiges Gelände zur eigenen Nutzung mit Schatten- und Sonnenplätzen. Fantastisches grosses überdachtes Schwimmbecken, perfekt sauber und zur alleinigen Nutzung. Ruhig gelegen, aber trotzdem mitten im Ort, kleiner Supermarkt und Bäcker in 100-200 m Entfernung. Netter Kontakt zu den Vermietern. Der Ort bietet nichts Besonderes, aber gute Lage für Ausflüge nach Carcassonne, Narbonne, Beziers, zum Canal du Midi usw. Alles in allem: Sehr zu empfehlen.

Tolles Haus mit wunderbaren Gastgebern

Une superbe demeure de vacances

Nichée au coeur d'une région absolument splendide, la "maison du général" est idéale pour se reposer et visiter les entourages (plages, randos et inévitables châteaux cathares. Nous étions quatre amis et avons eu le sentiment que nous ne pouvions pas avoir fait meilleur choix. Un grand merci encore à Diane pour son accueil chaleureux !

Wir haben uns in dem sehr schön gestalteten Winzerhaus sehr wohl gefühlt.

Das Winzerhaus ist sehr ruhig gelegen und trotzdem mitten in einem kleinen, hübschen Dorf, in dem man alles bekommt, was man für das tägliche Leben benötigt. Es ist ein großzügiges Anwesen und wir haben das große Innenschwimmbad jeden Tag gerne genutzt. Alle interessanten Ausflugsziele sind mit dem Auto gut zu erreichen. Diane ist eine sehr hilfsbereite und freundliche Gastgeberin. Wir bedanken uns für die schönen Urlaubstage.

great stay in this lovely house

We had a great stay in this lovely house. The gite is clean, comfortable and well equipped. The "welcome provisions" of food and drink was much appreciated and thoughtful. We spent most of the time outside though, enjoying the various places to sit and relax. Our daughter loved the pool and the garden with the trampoline. There are lots of places to visit (Carcassonne, Gruissan, little villages and walks on the Canal du Midi) but it was always lovely to come back to the gite. Diane and her husband are kind and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they made us feel very welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay and went home relaxed. THANK YOU DIANE!!"

We moved here in 2008 on the basis that it would be an adventure but if it didn't work out, well we'd just go back to the UK. Happy to say we are still here and still enjoying it. Our kids are now proper French students (though well trained so dont worry!), our French is still not quite perfect, and the main house still needs a lot of work, but on the whole life is good.

* The beaches at Narbonne plage, Gruissan and Le Franqui

* The historic walled city of Carcassonne.

* The Roman city of Narbonne - the daily (morning) indoor market is always a favourite with food lovers

* Walks and restaurants along the Canal du Midi

* Family swimming areas in local rivers

* For older children river jumping/swimming is a must at Ribaute.

* Paint balling, canoeing (in the Orb valley) and go-karting near to the beach at Gruissan

* Water park at Narbonne Plage/Gruissan which our younger vistors always enjoy

* The medieval towns of Lagrasse and village of Minerve, Cathar castles and ancient forts.

The reason we chose this house (out of the thousands we looked at!) was that its fairly unique in having a large garden that gives a feeling of being completely secluded and peaceful and yet it is situated 200m from the centre of the village. Perfect.
