Stylish family-friendly waterfront retreat on Spring Lake in the Cotswold Water Park

Welcome to Twitchers Lodge, our chic New England-style lakeside retreat with plenty of room for six.

Located on Spring Lake, our lodge has prime position in the Cotswold Water Park, one of the best kept secrets of Gloucestershire! One of 150 lakes in an area the size of Jersey, there’s so much to explore and something for everyone.

Aptly named, birdwatchers will be in their element – you may be lucky enough to spot woodpeckers, herons and great crested grebes as well as the resident geese, ducks and swans. There is also an abundance of watersports, activities, great eateries, walking, history and culture to discover nearby.

Our chic New England-style lakeside retreat has so much to offer it that it is hard to know where to start! For most, the pretty clapper board-style exterior and fantastic water-front setting make a brilliant first impression, whilst the convenience of the location within steps of a family-friendly lakeside bar, brasserie and gym come a close second.

This contemporary lake house has been stylishly renovated to mirror its waterfront setting, offering panoramic views from inside and out. Downstairs, its open plan living area has a modern kitchen that flows through to the sitting room and out onto the private deck via French doors. A perfect spot for alfresco dining or simply to sit back and enjoy lakeside life!

Upstairs there is a large master bedroom with a 5' bed and full length window overlooking the lake, allowing you the same stunning views. There are two further twin/double bedrooms with 5' zip and link beds offering flexible sleeping accommodation and a family bathroom. Extra care has been taken for families, and you will find lots of special touches around the house if you are planning on taking the little ones.

The light bright interiors with family-friendly luxuries are added bonuses, whilst the fact that there’s a golf course, water sports centre, bike hire and routes, plus a choice of restaurants and pubs, within a short, scenic walk really sets it apart. Although, for most young families, the fact that the UK’s largest inland beach with a purpose built toddler paddling and playground area is within a 10-15 minute stroll is the icing on the cake.

Lovely but a bit tired around the edges

We had a lovely stay at Twitchers lodge, the location is amazing. However the accommodation is a little tired, the furniture has changed since the photos were taken and the inside needs a bit of TLC particularly the downstairs shower which needs a good bleach. There were only 3 champagne flutes, not ideal when a group of 4 is staying for a 60th celebration! Generally the crockery is a bit tired too with a few cracks and chips and some items of cutlery a bit sparse. One of the chairs on the terrace is also broken. These small things didn’t impact our stay particularly, but when marketing the property as luxury with a price to match, we expect attention to detail and this is where the property fell short. Don’t let it put you off booking, just lower your expectations slightly before arrival.

Friends weekend away

It was a very nice property in a great location. Water front was a real plus point . The sunshine, water, swan snd ducks made it really pleasant. The boats and water sport activities made it more interesting to view and enjoy. The accommodation was good size and facilities were of high standards . We thoroughly enjoyed our stay . The restaurant nearby was superb . It was an unforgettable holiday for us even though it was raining for couple of days. We stayed 3 nights . Nearby Spa and pizza place were all making our stay worthy over all. Heating and WiFi were excellent too! So…totally a superb place to stay ! Already recommended to couple of our friends!
