The ancient courtyard flagstones, the lush foliage and sweet smelling flowers, combine to create a wonderful private area to swim, sun bathe, enjoy a cool drink or relish the mouth watering aroma of food being cooked on the outside barbecue.
Step inside Villa Laina and you’ve stepped back in time. See the graceful stone arch leading the eye from the breakfast kitchen into the lounge with its original Cretan ‘banquettes’ set along the stone wall, and the beamed wooden ceiling – yet there are also modern features to provide the level of luxury you expect to find on a holiday such as a satellite 40” LCD flat screen TV and a luxurious spa bath.

The villa was everything we hoped it would be and became a home from home. We enjoyed all aspects especially the pool, the bbq, and the balcony area. Treasured memories of our time there. Having a car was a must for us with elderly family members and allowed us to explore local and other locations. We would have preferred a closer taverna or two but didn't spoil our experience. Thank you to Georgia for her hospitality

Amazing historical home with all the amenities

We truly loved this home and all aspects of it. The home had plenty of space, large showers, large kitchen and living areas and a wonderful pool. The outdoor area was so cozy and relaxing which really added to our wonderful stay. The beach was an easy 1km walk away and had plenty of places to lay in the sun along with many dining options. I am so happy we chose this place as we looked at over 70 places before making our decision. We wanted an authentic/older home true to the area which we were staying and this did not disappoint. The hosts were so very nice and we are grateful they care so much about their homes, their guests and ultimately making our stay so wonderful. Thank you so much!!!

Alles sehr sauber und sehr nette Vermieter. Die Unterkunft ist sehr gut ausgestattet, auch zum grillen ist alles vorhanden. Mietwagen ist zu empfehlen, zumindest wenn man in der Nebensaison da ist. Wir würden jederzeit wieder kommen.

Villa Laine lässt keine Wünsche übrig

Wir waren eine Woche in diesem wunderschönen Haus samt Pool und tollem Außengelände. Die Dachterrasse sowie der Poolbereich laden zum verweilen ein und es findet sich Platz für jeden. Das Haus wird von den Besitzern wirklich schön gepflegt und mit viel Liebe geführt. Zudem sind sie super nett und beantworten jegliche Fragen oder Anmerkungen schnell. Die Ausstattung lässt nichts zu wünschen übrig (der bereitgestellte Raki hat fantastisch geschmeckt) und zusätzlich wurde in der Woche, in der wir dort waren, zwischendurch alles einmal gereinigt und Handtücher und Bettwäsche ausgewechselt. Das Haus ist ruhig gelegen und ca. 15 Minuten zu Fuß vom Strand entfernt, wo sich einige regionale Lokale am Wasser finden lassen. Wir waren mit sechs Erwachsenen im Haus und es hat uns allen sehr gut gefallen.

The people owning the house were very kind and forthcoming. Problems were solved immediately, even at Late evening. The villa was even nicer than the pictures suggested. We had a very nice time.

Geräumige Villa mit tollem Pool

Wir haben mit 2 Familien (8 Personen) Urlaub gemacht und hatten sehr viel Platz. Es gab 4 Schlafzimmer und auf jeder Etage ein Bad. Die Dachterrasse war genauso großartig wie die Poollandschaft mit ihren Liegen, den Hängestühlen und Hängematte und diverse Poolspielsachen. Die Kinder hatten sehr viel Spaß. Dazu gab es einen Grill, den wir ausgiebig genutzt haben. Die Unterkunft wurde in den 12 Tagen zwei mal gereinigt und mit neuen Handtüchern ausgestattet. Der Vermieter war sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Die Übergabe der Schlüssel hat sehr gut geklappt.

A beautiful 19th century stone villa with all that is necessary for a wonderful 21st century holiday. Fully agree with all the previous reviews. The villa is spacious with a marvellous terrace, ideal for breakfast. Great pool to drop into after a hot day enjoying the pleasures of Crete. Georgia and Dionysios were very informative and helpful. We were made to feel very welcome. We would recommend having a car to see the lovely island.

Wonderful historic house

We had a lovely time at Villa Lania. We felt we were living in Crete three hundred years ago. Nonetheless, the interior, while still true to history, was very comfortable. The kitchen and baths were modern. Some of the bedrooms have small windows, but we didn’t spend time there except to sleep. Georgia and Dionysius were incredible hosts, responsivea to our requests. The roof balcony is lovely, with a nice view of the sea. We came in April, so didn’t swim in the nice pool. There's a sweet cat, Baby, amazingly trained not to enter the house. We recommend Villa Laina heartily

We booked after reading excellent reviews and were not disappointed. The owners could not be more friendly and attentive. On arrival we were greeted with a kitchen table full of fruit, bottle of wine, chocolate and rakki. An amazing welcoming gift. Acomodation had all the character that reflected its age but filled with everything modern you could possibly need from fully equipped kitchen, beautiful bathrooms, bedrooms with comfortable beds. Then outside a pool, seating areas terrace. Nothing was too much to ask and accomodation and pool cleaned frequently throughout the holiday. A perfect holiday home

Georgia and Dionysus gave us a warm welcome when we arrived beautiful, charming villa Laina, and left ud with wine, fruits, homemade olive oil and raki. We had all the information we needed about this historical house, places to visit, restaurants and shops. The house, garden and the pool were perfect for two families. We spent a lot of time in every part of this place, and had sun all the day. The kitchen was big and well equipped, and from the garden we picked herbs for our meals. From the villa it was easy to travel around also without a car. Only 5 minutes walk to the bus that will bring you to the nearest towns and beaches like Platanias and Chania. It took us 15 minutes to walk down to the local beach, restaurants and shops. We spent two wonderful weeks at villa Laina. If you are looking for a special, cosy, charming and warm house, garden and hosts, then you definitely should visit villa Laina! We hope to come back some day! Thank you for everything! Two happy and satisfied families from Norway

Outstanding Cretan Holiday Villa - Perfect for All - Highly Recommended June 2018

Where do I start.... we have just returned from the most perfect family holiday, ten nights, in Metochi, Crete. Villa Laina was the most beautiful villa we have ever stayed in, the attention to detail was just outstanding, we wanted for nothing in terms of home comforts made even more perfect by the quality & traditional character of the villa. On arrival we were met by the owner Dionysis who is the perfect gentleman & speaks better English than us! Not only did we have the biggest bowl of fresh fruit we also had homemade raki & a bottle of wine, what a welcome, we knew straight away we were in for a real treat. As I’ve said the attention to detail is amazing, the bed linen & towels are clearly quality and everything across the villa so fresh & clean. The roof terrace has stunning views across the village and out to sea, perfect place to watch the sun rise, set or soak up the sun. The pool was immaculate and refreshing, plenty of places around the pool to relax and soak up the sun but also plenty of shade if you want to avoid the sun. The air conditioning throughout the villa was a welcome feature when it became really hot. We are a family of 7 ages 14, 19, 23, 27, 28, 43 & 51 & it was the perfect location for us all - we hired a seven seater car to explore the island, plenty of car hire in Maleme & Platanias, we had ours delivered to the villa, the 3 boys also hired mopeds for 4 days from just outside Platanias, there is a little shop about half a mile walk, not so bad walking to it although walking back is a bit more uphill so choose a cooler time in the day. Eating out we varied between Maleme & Platanias but also enjoyed staying in and cooking in the villa & BBQ’ing - we did a big shop between the local supermarket in Maleme & Lidl which is closer to Platanias. We found some amazing beaches and the roads are easy to navigate, the Blue Sea beach bar is a must, the food and scenery and sea swimming is outstanding. Visit to Chania Old Town is also a must do. We also got a takeaway delivered, menus were provided in the villa and the food was fantastic. We used the local taxi company in the evenings who were great, again details provided in the villa. Dionysis came to see us on the second day to recommend places to visit & check we were ok, we also met Georgia later in the week who was beautiful & charming, what a lovely family who own the most outstanding villa - can’t wait to go back next year. Very nice house with private garden and pool

We loved staying in this old but modern villa. The garden is great, totally private and a good size pool. The rooms are good sized and it is perfect that all rooms has AC. The owners were very helpful and we can really recommend this villa.

Amazing house in the middle of paradise

First of all the house was way over our expectations, Really authentic with loads of sun hours (basically all day). The owners was some of the kindest people we have ever meet and gave us loads of useful information and also the safety of helping us out with any obstacle that might occur (fortunately we didn't need to use this service). We need to mention the pool. The water in this pool was really clean, basically felt like you where swimming in a gigant bathtub. We really miss the house cat Baby! (Don't worry she doesn't go into the house so if you are allergic this will not be an issue). The thing we where probably most impressed by was the balance of the picturesque old stone house combined with the luxurious modern facilities, such as newly renovated bathrooms, dishwasher/washing machine and a range of pillows. But enough about the house. Taxis are affordable and since the house is located between a lot of small coastal villages you will be able to have dinner on a different location every night. There is also a supermarket not too far from the house in case you run out of anything. Overall we had a really great experience and wish we would've been able to stay longer. Awesome hosts with a fantastic property

We just returned from a very chilled 10 holiday in Crete. My husband and I were travelling with a 9 month old. We met friends there (another couple with three young children). The different arrivals and departures of our group were dealt with no issues at all. We were all made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We used the BBQ lots and even had a meal cooked for us The building is beautiful and pool could only be improved on with a touch of heating! The house was more than big enough for our group, was clean and equipment spot on. An excellent cot and highchair were supplied. A generous welcome of fruit and Raki were a lovely touch too. We had a constant supply of clean towels and our hosts were keen to check in on us and ensure we had anything else we needed. We encountered some issues with WiFi which was a minor thing (and dealt with quickly). The closest shops, beach and restaurant were too far to walk in our opinion (especially in the heat) so a car is handy to have. Plus there are plenty of places to visit nearby made easier if you have a car. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend and hope to return again soon ourselves!

Fantastic 2 weeks at Villa Laina

As a family of 7 with ages ranging from 18 to 75 we had the pleasure of staying at Villa Laina. On arrival we were met by the hosts Giorgia and her husband, Dionysus. Despite arriving at around 11.30pm we received a very warm and friendly welcome. Their passion and enthusiasm for the property they had renovated was clearly evident . The villa far exceeeded our expectations with plenty of space for all of us. The swimming pool was private and not overlooked, not a day went by without us having a dip a least twice no matter what time of day or night! The house and swimming pool were cleaned twice weekly with fresh sheets and towels provided. Air conditioning throughout ensured cool living and sleeping spaces which was very welcome. The villa was ideally situated for visiting nearby Chania (20 minutes by car but try the bus for 2.80 euros each way - pick up outside the mini market at the end of the road - buses running every 15 minutes until late) and Rhethimno (45 minutes by car). Car hire enabled us to visit remote villages and the beaches at Elofanissi and Fallassarna within an hour. We also took a boat trip to Gramvousa island and Balos beach with pick up from outside SynKa supermarket in Maleme. Giorgia was always ready to offer suggestions for days out and places to eat with her recommendations always being spot on. We discovered for ourselves the Cretan brewary which is around 10 minutes by car which was a real treat especially as you are able to purchase their beers to take away with you! All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Laina and the 5 stars we have awarded are simply not enough! Thank you for allowing us to stay in a most beautiful and relaxing property.

Sehr schönes Haus

Das Haus ist traumhaft, mit viel Liebe und Geschmack eingerichtet. Es fehlt an nichts. Es wurde in zwei Wochen drei Mal komplett geputzt und wir bekamen immer frische Handtücher und Bettlaken. Die Vermieter sind sehr hilfsbereit und gastfreundlich. Bei unserer Ankunft erwartete uns schon eine gefüllte Obstschale, eine Flasche Wein und Raki. Insgesamt ein absolut erholsamer und toller Ort.

Lovely place- felt like home but warmer and more beautiful!

Our family had the most wonderful holiday at Villa Laina and Georgia and Dionysos were the best hostesses ever! The house and the garden is a bliss for your eyes1 The area around the pool is Lovely, as is the terrace on second floor where you can enjoy the sea view and the quiet and beautiful surroundings. We had Everything we wished for and even more. It is a perfect 15 minute walk to the beach and less than 10 minutes to supermarkets and restaurants in Maleme village. The bed rooms are cool and beds are comfortable, bath rooms are fresh and in the kitchen there is Everything you need. We will definitely come back and recommend this Place for people who search for a quiet and cosy atmosphere! Marja from Sweden with big family
